I have a 2018 scat pack Challenger also and the Uconnect screen de-laminated on mine about a year and half ago which caused the screen to be unusable and flip around. Dealer said there was a bad lot of uconnect screens and it was replaced by the dealer with no drama, no issues since. The stock 2018 exhaust is pretty good so replacing the mid muffs with something like a vibrant 1794 bullet muff sounds awesome an will give you a throaty rumble without drone without spending a lot of $$ (listen to the youtube vids). Love mine and have no desire to get rid of it a all. Enjoy!
My 10k mile SRT392 6 spd. Is about perfectly balanced for the weight and power it has. Only did amsoil throughout, pentosin brake fluid. 195 thermostat, hellcat lower and custom modded upper, custom fitted large catch can. Will do chassis braces, port intake large tb, underdrive pulley in the next year. And follow with an aftermarket ecu and tuner. These narrow bodies are so much better looking than the widebody. I had a 70 Mustang Boss 302 widebody custom build and it looked ok. The Challenger has big plastic flares like a 4x4 that just screw up by the lines. The comfort is unmatched by any other American car besides th performance Cadillacs. Drive an M6, Z06, AmG sl55, rover supercharged etc.. Challenger Srt is my final stop. Absolutely the coolest American car on the market today.
Your opinion on the widebody is not shared by the majority of people. I think your narrowbody looks disproportioned and incomplete. I wouldn't have bought a Challenger if narrowbody was the only option...
This was great. I have a 21' WB Scat 6M and have had fairly similar experiences. I daily drive it and have since I got it, and the interior is where almost every issue I've had came from. I was lucky not to have had any engine issues yet. Great questions and excellent interview.
I enjoyed the format. Keep it coming. Comes off informative, genuine, and jives with my 8 yr ownership experience over 3 models of it. You're right it's way more relevant than listening to reviewers do their spiels.
for exhaust, i went with the dynomax mini race bullets in place of the middle mufflers. best choice i ever made. keeps the stock sound, but a slightly lower tone, and a little louder. i think it sounds better over the borla attak exhaust and muffler deletes.
This was a great video, love the content. I have owned 4 Camaros and 2 Challengers. While I love the Camaros, the cargo space and cabin space after a while usually ends up being its undoing to me. The performance on the Camaro is excellent, but did I really see a noticeable difference between the two, with my kind of driving, definitely not. Plus I'm more of muscle car guy, then sports car guy. The Challenger hands down sounded WAY better. Mid muffler delete which was $179 bucks. My last Camaro had a full stage one on it, long tubes, X pipe, tune, cold air, and the Dodge sounded WAY better. The stage one for my Camaro cost me $3,000. The space and comfort and ride in the Challenger were much better than the Camaro. I do like the heads up in the Camaro. Camaro had 6 piston Brembos the Challenger has 4 piston Brembos, again who could really tell the difference with daily driving. I'm so glad I got a 2022 Challenger before they stop making them. The car is just dialed in at this stage of the game. I really feel you get the most bang for your buck with the Scat Pack. 485hp is more than I'll ever use and its more that the Camaros 455hp. Challenger all the way.
I had the 17 ss Camaro rental for a month. Brembos, 8 spd. It was faster and so much better handling, that I almost bought the rental car! Even though my background is autocross and extremely modified cars, the Challenger srt392 6 spd won me over. Just too comfortable, Cool and fun. Not the fastest, but always the best enjoyed car I've ever had.
Sliding around Dan's 392 on an AutoX definitely had me won over lol. I couldn't believe how much fun the thing was out there. Oddly capable for the size/weight, but I quickly gave into full opposite lock smoke shows. So fun.
Very good discussion guys, I have a '18 Challenger Scat Pack and it looks exactly like yours except no shaker, I did do quite a few performance upgrades; Borla atak exhaust and it sounds beyond exceptional than any other exhaust, kooks long tube headers, P1SC1 Procharger 7 pounds of boost 200 hp, 275 front tires & 305 rear, Demon wheels, 87mm throttle body & Diablo tuned..I think that's everything?! But I can tell by the way he talks about his car he really loves it! You have a new subscriber here keep up the good work!.."Dodge, the brotherhood of muscle"
I had a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack in plum crazy purple. For the first year and a half I had no issues with the car. However, my backup camera stopped working and the brake pedal would freeze up on me from time to time. Then a ticking noise started coming from the 392 engine. Took it to my local Dodge dealership and they didn't seem to think there was a problem. The ticking continued and the engine warning light cane on. Back to the deakership and they fixed the engine warning dash light but the soubd persisted. Finally talked to a person that said it was a lifter problem. I finally ended up teading the car in.
I've read that the MDS is often a fail point on the 392 and the 345s that takes out the lifters and then wipes out the cam. If I owned one, I would delete the MDS and some are having good luck with a Hellcat oil pump swap since it's a higher volume and helps feed the valvetrain a little better.
Great video. I'm actually renting a base R/T right now. The cars handles far better than what I expected, very flat and very easy to feel the limit but man can you feel the weight. I'd also agree about struggling with placing it on the road, it's crazy how big the car feels inside and yet has such poor visibility. A surprisingly fun car for sure but the I can see why people say the 392 is the perfect middle-ground as the R/T does feel down on power a bit. Also the seats suck which surprised me.
Agreed the pistons/rings aren't made for boost as they are already about 11:1 cr. Running power adders on stock internals is possible if you keep it realistic and don't get carried away with the boost and tuning and i know people who have done that. The Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger is a clean install and keeping things mild will safely yield about +100whp/and a little less than +100lbft torque on stock 392 internals. The weak link is the HP70 trans which will start to slip when the torque gets around that 550lbft+ mark (Dodge should have used the HP90 in the 392 cars, just sayin'). Also know a couple SPs running 75-ish shot NO2 with a progressive system on stock internals. To me the juice isn't worth the squeeze on the 392 as by the time you spend the $$ you could get a stock Hellcat that is stronger and faster. Mine is stock NA with a couple of bolt on items, a tune, and drag radials. It will run in the high 11s in decent air, at 0'DA I've run in the 11.6xx range on good tires. Super fun car on the street and at the test and tune nights. 👍💪
Don’t supercharge your 6.4 just a good tune can give you another 60 to 80 HP.. The Hellcat 6.2 is more of a heavy duty engine, it’s built to beat the hell out of it. 👍
Cool. I have a 392 and a 6.2L and I just did a comparison between both as far as which a person should get (it bombed as usual) but Im looking to get another Challenger, stick, shaker but wide body, and the black looks really good on it, enough to maybe sway me from the octane red. Skilled Patriot though....ok, thats good.
I also have a 2018 Challenger 392 Scat Pack Shaker Hood, I was curious how his Challenger did on gas mileage. Mine gets 21 mpg all day long and 25 on the highway. I know only one other person with a 392 and he says his gas mileage sucks.
I've noticed really good highway/50mph backroads gives me betwwen 22 and 25 mpg, but slow city/around town will kill my mpg, around 14-16 which is right where manufacturing specs it out at (14 city)

What's the point of comments like this lol? You didn't even bother to say what you bought instead. Also, your 15 year old boat jokes are embarrassingly stale. 😂

Yea if you build another hi spec motor for it for 20k. That motor is not designed for boost plain and simple. You want to blow the motor go for it.
