Cooper: You're a scientist, Brand.
Brand: So listen to me when I say love isn't something that we invented. It's observable. Powerful. It has to mean something.
Cooper: Love has meaning, yes. Social utility, social bonding, child rearing...
Brand: We love people who have died. Where's the social utility in that?
Cooper: None.
Brand: Maybe it means something more - something we can't yet understand. Maybe it's some evidence, some artifact of a higher dimension that we can't consciously perceive. I'm drawn across the universe to someone I haven't seen in a decade who I know is probably dead. Love is the one thing that we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space. Maybe we should trust that, even if we can't understand it. All right Cooper. Yes, the tiniest possibility of seeing Wolf again excites me. That doesn't mean I'm wrong.

If you miss this scene it's like miss the whole movie.
Love is the only TRUTH, we all are THAT, it has no beginning and no ending, is eternal. This is what all enlightened souls tried to describe it. Example, Mevlana Rumi, Ramana Maharshi, JK, Nisargadatta, Hazrat Nizamuddin...

What would happen if they listened brand and went to Edmunds planet at first,?
They would’ve never gotten data from the black hole because they would never have had to go in because Mann would never have had exploded the Endurance engine block so humanity would die on earth and the colony would be fully fledged on Edmunds
Or the future beings who have occasionally been intercepting their mission would have found a different way to bring cooper to the black hole to ensure their own survival. The fact that cooper surviving the black hole ordeal depends on the people he saves with that data eventually going back in time to help him is a large grandfather paradox, as is the fact that cooper is the one who sent himself on the journey in the first place, but with that premise taken for granted I think it could have worked out either way.
