Hi Johannes! The reason we made this a hybrid instead of a fully waterproof pant is for ventilation! Even a breathable membrane like eVent, is nowhere near as breathable as having no membrane at all. So we put the membrane in the places you need it for water crossings, wind protection, and light rain (ie thighs/seat) and used an Oxford weave - more of a work pant style fabric - everywhere else!
Thanks a lot for the clarification Pete, that makes perfect sense. Breathability is important, and if it really starts to rain I’d throw a pair of rain pants over anyways. Thanks for everything you do over at Mosko Moto.
Great great pants.... also off the bike, which makes a huge difference when you´re on adventure for a few days. Spot on, Johannes.... ditto Mosko Moto.
Similar issues here with big thighs and always struggled. For enduro I’ve recently moved to Fly Racing and I love them. The Race Lite and DST versions have a great level of flex, acommodate knee braces and have a brilliant ratchet system to get them right round the waist. Check them out when you end up looking to swap out your Dakar’s or get a dedicated pant for your 350 enduro rides
Hi Johannes, very nice video, makes me wanna buy them too. You will whear protection for the knees right ? It woud have been nice to find out how do you feel with protection on. Thank you for the video
As always I've forgot a thing or two: Price: Expensive 😆 Armor: Not included, use separate Philosophy of use: All kinds of adventure riding that will include offroad riding (every time then..) Not waterproof enough on its own, will need to carry a rain pant, which I don't like but it is what it is, right? - Johannes
Also looked at these. I know there is no armor supplied, but are there pockets to put knee pads or do you need to have the mx style knee braces on your body?
No pockets for armor, which I like. A hanging liner on the inside is just more material. Which external knee protectors do you use now? I remember asking you a few years back and you used Acerbis ones. I bought them but they slipped terribly, so I bought Leatt Dual Axis and they are fantastic! Doesn't slip, super easy to put on, no need to adjust every time etc. Highly recommended if you don't want to sell a kidney and buy braces.
@@JohannesDalenMC I still have the same old knee protectors, but only use them when I go for active offroad. On trips in hot climates with really long days I want the built in pads which is why I want the option to put them in. Most pants do, but not Moskos.
Yeah I can understand that. MM will release clothing with integrated armor this year if I’m not mistaken. Will be interesting to see, they always have great solutions to things!
Nice pants but come on manufacturers the price you are asking is insane, and all the top brands are accused of charging $$$ for these rugged style pants.
Thanks for the recommendation Johannes. I just got a pair of Klim Outrider pants that arrived today. They look good so far. Looking forward to trying them. I will add the Mosko Moto britches to the list to try too. 👍🏾
What moto stand is that? Just got my first set of Mosko gear and it is well worth it. The Woodsmen pants are well made but the leather on the knees seems low, do you feel the same? FYI, I am 6'3 and workout as well so not a small guy.
FYI to others. I tried those Mosko Moto pants twice. First time the package had the right size labeled, but the pants inside were a size smaller. I called to return, but in just a week they were out of stock in the size I was supposed to get. A year later I tried again, because I too follow John T. young. This time they sent the correct size, but the new, current year pants are now running at least one size smaller. I just returned and gave up. You have me considering again, but just need to order 1 to 2 sizes bigger than a Klim riding pant.
@@JohannesDalenMC The pants arrived! I am in absolute love with these. They are hands down the best pair of pants I have ever owned and the fitment is just perfect. And they look even more bad ass in person!!! Im thrilled.
To answer your question, from Mosko website: "The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer Schoeller softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability" Also, to dry your boots overnight, nothing beats puting newspapers inside the boot. Trust me, it works like magic, the dry newspaper will soak up the humidity and your boots will be pretty dry in the morning. For better results what I do is put in the papers when I arrive in the evening and change them before going to bed.
@@JohannesDalenMC Hey Johannes - I've worked seasonally at a remote hunting camp for many years and can affirm that this method of drying boots works very well, at least for the rubber boots we're wearing! Probably won't get completely dry, but well on the way!
Sry I don't watch John Young, so thanks for this vid. I believe you've found the perfect ADV and touring pants. I'm built like you(although I'm only 6' tall) I can tell the fit is "athletic" and these pants have all the features I've been looking for. MosKo Moto's site is out of my size in all the colors but I'll keep and eye on them, for when they are back in stock.
I've asked Pete (guy behind Mosko) why the whole pant isn't waterproof. That would have been awesome, but perhaps warmer and heavier? These do tick all the boxes and the fit was just perfect. They are expensive, but worth every penny based on my first impression with them. Let me know if you get yourself a pair!
That waterproofing is a great idea but the gold standard for abrasion resistance is Kevlar lining. I prefer cheaper Kevlar lined pants then simply put on waterproof pants if it’s wet.
I couldn't find the CE rating for them on the mosko moto website. A vague mention of abrasion resistance without it being certified is what puts me off getting a pair!
Hey Johannes, i was looking at the Basilisk Pants, and for a size comparison with you, i was looking at 34T and 36T and im 187cm and 85-90 kg and want to fit scandnavian winter layers and hips+ knee protectors and still be able to move on my bike..
They don't, they are supposed to be worn with external armor. But, I've read that Mosko are creating a line with integrated armor because so many people want it.
Great vid Johannes, quick question, do your Leatt dual axis knee guards fit well under the Mosko Pants? Also, do they (knee guards) fit well under the Klim Dakars?
Nice preview Johannes, these pants look really comfortable. My AS Mongolia pants are stretchy on the tighs and hips and "water proof" in the same way, but less ventilating. I manage to separate the stitching in the crouch at my TET Norway trip last summer, even if they are strechy.. To be fair i jumped on and off the bike very "reckless", kicking over the luggage instead of climbing up on the loaded bike. I thoght that this could be a problem and that happened... hey Johannes i have the adventure spec mongolia and i‘m impressed how comfortable, stretchy and well made they are! They come with removable armor and you can also wear a knee brace if you want to. Also they are Made in Europe and CE AA rated as well. Last summer i rode through a 20min little rainstorm and i wasn’t soacking wet but just a bit moist underneath. Shortly after the rain has stopped the pants were dry. 😊 i hope someday you will get the chance to try the pants from AS! You won’t regret it 😉 Ride safe and have a great day my friend 😎

Great to hear you’re happy with them, I’ve talked to Greg about getting a few items to test and review, perhaps I’ll kindly ask for a pair of pants 😁 I really like the looks of their new supershirt as well. Great day to you too my dear friend 😊
The next pants i will buy from them are the new linesman pants. They look awesome and i think if you want something that is more stretchy than you should try the new linesman too. 😊 The mongolia are very tough! But they are stretchy in your crotch area so it is easy to get on your bike 😊 The supershirt is possibly the best piece you can wear!! I would buy it again without a doubt!!
Hey! Nice review. Thought about theese pants before but I could not find info on them being abrasion resistant. Is this feature new for the latest model?
Thanks Adam! The black panels are made of a fabric called Schoeller, and according to MM it’s very abrasion resistant. The tobacco colored part is a nylon fabric which we know is abrasion resistant. But, I can imagine these aren’t as abrasion resistant as your typical road pant, but still enough to use it for adventure riding. Having this much stretch there has to be a compromise.
Great review…. I was gonna ask about the armour, but I see you touched on that subject. I’m a similar size to you but I’m a bit older with a bigger waistline 😃, so I was wondering if these would be good for me, but I think I heard you mention leather inner knee grips so I’d probably avoid those, unless they’re faux leather of some sort. Otherwise they sound perfect. There are some similar looking Dianese pants, but sizing is always the problem…… so I understand your glee. I’ve found recently that thigh pockets are the best for comfort whilst riding, as it keeps weight lower, so better than a rucksack on your back, and putting anything large in your waist pockets or jacket pockets seems to restrict movement. Certainly the case for me. Heat is an issue here, but we rarely get rain, so the perfect gear, which hopefully also looks “normal- ish” if you stop for a bite to eat somewhere, which also has some knee and hip protection, is the aim.
Thanks Alan! Yes it’s real leather on the inside unfortunately. Knowing Mosko I’m sure it’s as responsibly sourced as possible though. You can have a closer look at them and try them out when I pass you in mid-May 😁
