CE rating. . . "sigh". . . Why? . . . It's a U.S.A. company with garments ethically manufactured in Bangladesh. To subject them to E.U. CE certification would only drive their costs even higher. It's excellent gear meant for people who understand and accept the inherent risks of Motorsports.
They are working on an integrated armor versions of the basilisk, with ce rating. Seems like they cannot ce rate the clothes without protections. That’s what they told me, should come out on mid 2024
I've spent Sooooooooo much money on Mosko Moto gear I can't even think about it. LOL. But I love it and it's the best or near best in literally everything they make. I love Pete and the team too. Great people that actually use the gear, more than WE do. Great video Ian..love your stuff too dude!
Ian, thank you once again for your great video. Mosko should sponsor you since you just gave them advertising and endorsements that money can’t buy! Mosko gear is very premium, but you are the Mosko Moto of RUclips motorcycle channels! Congratulations!!!🎉
They are sponsoring him and give him free equipment so he can advertise their overpriced shit to gullable people. To be honest he mentioned it many times.
Awesome video! I have used Mosko gear for years. Primarily the luggage , which is simply the best! Incredibly well made and has never ever let me down. Great warranty as well. Best!
I used to purchase Mosko gear a number of years ago but I have been priced out. As a high school teacher, I am sadly not part of their target audience and they do not want customers like me :(
The prices are total madness at this point. The basilisk used to cost 700CAD$, which already was too expensive to begin with. Now they sell them for 990CAD$ which is absolutely ridiculous even considering how well made their apparel is. That said, do keep an eye out for the Dirty Bird sales. I scored a pair of Basilisk pants for under 400CAD$. Basically brand new.
I'd be really happy if you could do a review of AdventureSpec gear, they use layering adventure system as well, base/mid/outer/shell layers and it seems pretty thoroughly thought through
Absolutely love the mosko gear. The basilisk does have some venting issues but when its hot you can pack it down nice and small in your pack since it has no armour.
Been waiting for your Mosko Moto reviews. Thanks Ian. I've spent SO MUCH money on their stuff LOL. Super well built and high quality and I agree great people in the company too! I agree with all your reviews on them. I do however find the Basilik jacket pretty hot, and the vent's dont seem to be very effective and cooling. Have you had it in warmer weather ? That's my only complaint. Great stuff Ian!
I’m 99% street rider, but went with the Woodsman pant and Leatt knee guards. Most riding pants fit like tents on my skinny legs or look like rain gear. The Mosko pants are extremely well made, comfortable and waterproof enough for anything other than a deluge. The knee guards surprisingly are comfortable too. Al together I couldn’t be happier or more well protected. This separation of outer layer and armor is growing on me.
Please do a video on armor systems. There are so many options. It would be nice to have one place to review all of them. I appreciate everything you do!
Ian always well done...I complain to Mosko every time I see themat rallys because of sizing for the BIG GUYS....the base layer stuff is great and their Jerseys...but they lack the sizing for True 2X/3X guys....I realize Pete is thin as a rail...but they are losing a lot of sales in my opinion not having one size up....I guess we have to go on serious diets to get into them...ha!!!...Thanks again for all your hard work!!!
I have some khaki woodsman pants that i like because i can take my under armor off and change my shoes and go to the pup after a ride. I only need to pack the one pair of pants for a weekend away. These new colours though are way too out there. They need to do some plain colourways also for those who dont want to look silly at dinner.
Love Mosko products practicality, innovations and quality, wanted to get some apparel for my wife from them for enduro riding , but huge zero product for women, contacted Pete and he said their employees are almost 50% female and they are working on it,,,,,, sad part is it was almost 2 tears ago............... keep up good job Ian, cheers V!
I love the MM Surveyor jacket & pants with the following armor: Know MK3 Riding shirt, CE Level 2 all-around with Bohn Body Armor Adventure Pants with shorter knee pads made for taller boots, CE Level 2 all-around. It's a fantastic set-up! Klim Krios Pro Helmet. Also have their Workhorse Jerseys. My baselayer of choice is the Forcefield Tech 3 Compression Baselayer manufactured using light, fast-drying Dryarn. This base layer is anti-bacterial, light, fast-drying, and has the thermoregulation properties of Becool™. These garments keep you cool in hot conditions, keep you warm in cooler conditions.
One thing that MoskoMoto should really make different is -the neck or collar of the Basilisk jacket. The first thing it's just way too hard, stiff, and very uncomfortable, especially if you like to shave every morning- it just cuts into your skin. Another issue- the bright colors around the neck (like the outer side). If you are traveling for a long period and sleeping in a tent, there is no chance you gonna wash this jacket every third or so day, especially since you need to carry special detergents for the waterproof materials. From riding in the dust and rubbing into the bottom of the helmet it gets dirty swiftly, up to the level it isn't very comfortable to walk in public. The solution would be just to make some dark and soft material around the neck area and it would be the perfect jacket at least for me.
Great video! Thank you. When will you review the Barfly jacket and pants you mentioned in the video? I would like to compare them to similar products by Klim...
Hi Ian, good one! If you ever had a chance to wear jackets/pants that are similar to Basilisk line-up, could you share a view on bulkiness/membrane breathability? I mean, with the vents closed, at what temperature those things become too hot? As for competitors I would name Klim Raptor which is gore-tex, Revit Component (which is not and no-one has ever seen specs for Revit Hydratex membrane), something from Adventure Spec line. Thanks!
I've been thinking about going the Mosko Moto route. It would be nice if you could do a video on the armor included knee and hip protection. I value your opinion on good gear.
Nice reviews Ian, just not in my budget and I know I can get good, quality gear for better price. Do the pants have available hip armor insert pockets ( i.e. Klim pants)? Living in AZ I wear nothing but merino wool or alpaca wool in the hot riding months. they're the best (Smartwool or Darn Tough) thanks again.
I say best bang for your buck is to get some articulating knee guards like the leatt ones and one of the many armored jerseys, the leatt again looking like the nicer offering. Wear dwr hiking pants under the knee guards, with merino long underwear if cool. Wear hiking rain pants over that if cold or raining. Wear a light weight merino base layer under the armored jersey if cool and a hoodie/3 layer goretex or event over that if cold or rainy. That way the only things you're buying into that are exclusively for riding are the knee guards and the armored jersey. All the rest of the gear you can wear day to day if you're the outdoorsy type.
I'm not sold on the idea of giving up on abrasion resistance in the outer shell unless you're off-road only. Even then a decent fall on a stony trail or into the bushes will tear through any light fabric and start taking off skin from arms, hips and butt. On-road, worse again, and I don't trust body armor to hold together in a slide. The straps on MX-style armor and the mesh in compression shirts will last about a tenth of a second if unprotected in a slide, there goes your armor, and the sequel to that doesn't bear thinking about.
Hey Ian, have you ever tested the Revit Sierra jersey??? I’m looking to snag one to wear over my armor for short stints on the asphalt. The CE B rating on a jersey is something I haven’t seen elsewhere. I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts!
So am I the only one that has trouble with the zippers on the Basilisk? It's in incredible PITA to open OR close these without taking the jacket off (only exception is the main front zip). I do love their other gear but the zips on the vents lead to cursing every time I wear the jacket.
"Armor", CE or not is virtually worthless in the real world.. Being a Traffic Homicide Investigator for 12 years in Central Florida specializing in motorcycle crashes.. yes crashes not "accidents"... Armor does little to protect the rider in the event of a crash.. why?.. because once impact occurs the rider will usually be ejected resulting in tumbling not "sliding" negating the myth of abrasion resistance.. As for the "armor", unless it's constructed similar to what football players wear....that's also a myth, those thing little flexible panels in your elbows, shoulder area, center back and where ever else the manufacturers place them giving the purchaser the deadly illusion you'll be safe in a crash are also worthless at speeds greater then you typical walking speed .. the vast majority of motorcycle fatalities the primary COD ( cause of death) listed in the autopsy report is "Blunt Force Trauma".... As for helmets, they determine if the funeral will be open casket or closed gasket... And don't buy into anything "inflatable" for rider safety... It's a dangerous marketing ploy from the manufacturers... and a running joke to those of us who actually work these crashes..
They can't do CE in Bangladesh where their product is made. They can still charge huge prices if they manage to persuade customers with help of you tube channels they give products for free.
I love Mosko Moto, but the cost of their apparel is exorbitant. I use Fox apparel. It is just as tough and durable as Mosko, but a fraction of the price. Great video though!
I will help you with the best buyers guide. Their prices are daylight robbery. The fact that they pay someone to promote doesn't justify it as there is way more affordable and quality competition. As someone mentioned it is produced in Bangladesh ethicaly. What that mean as they still pay local labour cost for manufacturing overated expensive products. If you buy this you would probably feel mugged but in a nice way😂. It is stupid to buy a motorbike and think about the price and then allow overpriced scammers to rip you off. It is better to reward honest not greedy manufacturers and they exist on the market.
Wow... I did not know you did advertising. Yes I realize you are affiliated but to me this diminishes your credibility. I hate to see this as you are the best tester out there, Im interested to see if you leave this comment up.

They aren't sponsors, I don't get money except for affiliate sales which I can get from any company equally. I'm doing the gear videos now while people are getting ready for the riding season. I'm sorry if it seems too much, after this week there may not be more gear videos for 6-12 months. It's raining so I do these now.
