I have an earlier version of this tank bag (bought 1st half of 2020 I think) and I love it. I use it on my frequent local rides and occasional longer ones and it works extremely well for me. I use the backpack straps as well all the time and don't even bother putting them away in its pocket but rather when the bag is on my bike i just tuck them in under the bag. I also find the various pockets for organising things very useful. I can see why, for some, this might not be ideal though. Good that there are a number of option out there! I haven't used the water bag too much, but seems to work well. In new version and the way they make the water bag easier to access seems like a good idea. All in all, it has been very durable for me. I use it every day. Love your channel, Pavlin! 🙂
Hi, I use the Nomad (previous version of Nomad). Rather than using the backpack straps, I use a shoulder strap (that I already had) from ONE of the top connectors, to the opposing aluminium eye at the bottom. With this setup, I use it as a sling bag, across my chest. Much more convenient and secure for city use
Great info Pavlin, thanks. For dust and muddy I’ve seen riders using the rain cover to protect it and walking around you can use it in the front and not in the back, it’s protected and much easier to take something out.
Thank you for the thorough review of this expensive bag. I am reconsidering it now. What i like is the rounded top instead of a square one. My current one is squared and the zippers get caught in the corners. I love the clear map attachment. Cheers from Westminster, South Carolina.
Hi so glad you reviewed this bag...i bought the older version second hand... it cleans up EXCELLENT.. all their products do...i like all the organization pockets.. but i want to use for my dslr as well.. but couldn't with a full bladder..😢 i keep my drone in it for now and i have ordered the givi multi charging set up for inside.. but i am still debating on switching to their hood model.. now that mosko also has a used dept.. but if you want something..i will gladly ship over to you..i also bought my used mosko bmw altacama bags used online.. they are amazing.. love your channel and all your amazing no BS thoughts..
I have this bag but not the map cover. I put everything in it that I need to reach while on the bike or smaller items for emergencies. I like that it comes on and off with quick release! It does add some top heavy weight to my Super Ten though! Especially with the water on board.
Tank bags are to each his own. Helk I don't know how many I havw collected over the last 50 yrs. Several. I carry about the sane items aa you. I like a vmb 14:38 ag that stays on the bike no matter the road. Waterproof or at least resistant. Mosko moto makes good deoebdable products and are very open to improvements sugessted. Give it a round. Mattias is a great guy as are the rest of the Nordic ADV gang. TS and Robert. They know how to enjoy life as well in a very beautiful place. Good vid you take care
Hmm, I used my Nomad (pre-Nomax model) on a naked bike with flat tank, obviously not made for it as the wind blows right into it and the flap keeps flapping around if you don’t lock it up. On a Screened bike and tilted like yours, it looks like it’s a better fit. Although it’s obviously in the way if you ride Standing. Mosko has smaller, or more towards the top end mountable bags for that. I locked my Nomad at the bottom with adapted Rock-Straps. Quick and easy to clean-up the bike for riding without luggage and any straps residuals on it. I would buy that tankbag over and over again (but what do I need it twice for ;-) ). Done over 22tkm on it in Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy. And it’s like new! As a summer Tankbag it works fine for me, I like it. Occasional normal rains (come and go) are no problem. You’ll collect during summer a lot of dust, a lot of wasps and other insects. Take all your stuff out in the hotel/at home, and shower it, dry it with a towel and you’re good to go, packing in the morning. There’s no better, just different purpose bags. In the end, yes, I am looking for a different purpose backpack/tankbag, because I don’t have an ADV bike, nor do I stop, when a Storm hits me, I never stopped in my life waiting out a storm or a 100% constant strong raining week, unless for gas, changing gear or getting into the hotel at the end of a day. And so my trusty Harro Elefantenboy, without a rain-cover, but water-proofed never let me stranded in over 25 years, and over 30years of it’s age (replaced now, as the rubber coating got nasty/sticky). Mosko Moto has the most critical and smart team creating unique luggage and clothing solutions for a specific enthusiast advanced purpose. If you’re not in the target spot, it might, or likely not work for you (too much this, too less that). The bad things in my world on this Nomad/Nomax: - Of course, it’s not waterproof, when you fall into a ditch or river - then you lost. - once it rains and you have 1 piece of wet-sensitive gear in it, you’re risking it, the rain-cover is good (normal, but has a transparent screen to view the map), but the bag soaks the water up the bag under the rain-cover, the heavier the rain/storm, the more it crawls up. - Either you have space or a water bladder (I don’t use the bladder and for a water bladder bag it’s far too heavy just by itself, get a light cheap one for your back, better for your waist, if you need that). - this is not a backpack, this is a bring it into your hotel-room back pack so you can use your arms for the bigger luggage to carry up, too. It can serve as a Rescue Backpack, when you need to get out of a situation with the most valuable things and leave all other stuff behind, but only for that. They have better backpacks and so do other brands have even better backpacks, even though some of the best backpack designers now work for Mosko. - it is NOT a camera bag, you need to be very minimal to suit you, which I am, but likely most others are not, certainly not with Pavel’s needs, too much bulky stuff for the micro-organised bag. Pavel, for you this bag makes no sense - zero. It’s top quality, but it’s for people who have many small things to carry and want them super organized, and use the bladder, keeping the bag light and “flatter” than you would. I suggest you get a Klim waist-water-bladder (free your back), and a Enduristan Backpack (bound to your rear luggage, empty) and a mosko moto (gnome) or enduristan waterproof tankbag where your bulky gear just rightly fits in. When you want to walk around, throw that tankbag into the Enduristan Backpack or use that for shopping. They’re waterproof, so if you’re out for a short trip, a backpack would work, or just tie it on your bike quick and dirty. If you’re not spending that much money, decathlon has lots of good running and cycling bags that serve the water bladder or shopping purpose with some weather proofing. I like free shoulders and back, too. 100%
This was way more useful than the actual review! I think I agree that one big space is probably better than all the wasted space used to create separations in the pack.
Nomax ( V3 of Nomad) is a magic tank bag for me. I use it on CRF300 rally and Bmw GS 1250. it is a lot of pocket and space and you need to be organized but this is the magic: a pocket for everything. in desert color you could not resist. the backpack allow you to go with all your important document, and if you travel with mosko moto other luggage you have your free hands quality is stunning , even the bladder quality is top, they have a website in Europe…. I could not dream about better option for a tank bag… not waterproof but cover include… and like you pavel I love the chart option ( and they have a phone option too) you really understand that these guys in mosko use their product a lot.
@pavlin I believe there is a dedicated pocket for the rain cover. It should be just above the hydration pack pocket. Zipper in the same location. I agree 100% with your assessment on the hydration pack taking up too much space. I removed mine entirely.
Great kit, as you say, at a price. It would be good to see it lockable to the bike for when you walk away briefly to pay for petrol etc, a small lockable cable to the vars maybe. I have small padlocks I use on the zips of mine. They are such convenient bits of equipment I can't believe everyone doesn't use them As always weight and size matters, and that looks perfect. They do a great desert sand colour, too. Ride safe 👍
I now need a new tank bag. I have used, since 2018, the Tour Master Magnetic Tank Bag. I wish it was it was still available. I prefer magnetic bags vs strap bags. The nice thing, for me, is that the Tour master has two great side pouches.
I bought one of these. All the pockets take up too much space. I prefer the hood tank bag and it’s awesome. One big bucket holds more stuff. Usually I’m very organized but too many layers of pockets just takes up too much space. Hydration is a good idea!
Mosko seems to be a brand that is here in northern Europe hard to get and mostly seen in influencer reviews. In my opinion this Mosko bag has too much zippers and clips. I’m using another brand SW Motech from Germany and enjoying magnetic tanklock ring and waterpoof bag, with zipper magnetic lid. Price under 200€. Thanks for overview!
All that brilliant design and functionality becomes useless with the rain cover on. Why wouldn’t they make it 100% waterproof without the need of a rain cover? It would drive me crazy every time it rains putting that on. Great video as always Pavlin.
I know them very well. Made from vinyl fabric and look terrible. Nothing is 100% waterproof. Look good on paper, but not when you have a close look. Not sure about durability as well.
@@motorcycleadventures That's too bad, I needed a tank bag for my tenere world raid that could accommodate a 14 inch macbook for my commuting. Thank you for the reply!
The nylon straps, even the rubberized from rock-straps do. If you want to keep your shiny bike as shiny even though the tankbag is made for off-roaders, you can use the classic and best protection, a thick transparent foil/sticker (or coloured if it fits the style you’re looking for) cut and placed on the touched areas, even around the fram. It should hold 2-3 years or longer, even in strong heat. I have done so, using the bag on a naked bike.
How do you carry the tankbag while walking around the attractions for a longer time? Does it have a handle or anything to make it comfortable for holding it so long?
It’s simple: have a strap, mount it on the many mounts and hang it over with a shoulder protector for straps like a messenger bag. If it’s too big, you need to get organized. If it’s smaller, you can throw it into an empty backpack that you carry for the walkarounds. There’s no big wisdom with that. You can use an ALDI plastic bag, too, to cover-up that you’re carrying your private black-money around… ;-)
Hi Pavlin, very nice and detailed your description of this tank bag, but it's also not for my budget... I'm considering buying a magnetic one, what do you think about? I'll appreciate your opinion. Thanks.
Givi has one. Model EA138B. You can tie it down or use it as a magnet bag, it’s narrow and big enough for the small things. And cheaper. But it’s in no way and no other is, comparable to such high class tank bag as the mosko moto. The price is right! Every owner knows that.
