I had the exact same thing. Four lesions in left and 1 in right breast. Never missed my annual mammogram. Had 28 rounds of radiation. No chemo Thank God. Couldn’t feel them as they were very small. Had cyst removed when i was only 16 which was benign. Early detection is the cure. I also was shocked as these developed within a year. For all you women, get your mammogram. I am 11 years out and am 69 years old.
She was very fortunate. Because DCIS is microscopic and still contained in the ducts, it doesn’t always show on imaging. I know someone who went for a lumpectomy for a tiny, sub centimeter invasive ductal spot, but DCIS came up in the margins on pathology. She went back for 2 more lumpectomies, but each time, more DCIS was found in the margins. Finally had to just do a mastectomy after 3 lumpectomy attempts. The DCIS never showed on any imaging including a breast MRI.
Breast cancer survivor 9 years cancer free. It was caught early, I had lumpectomy, 6 weeks of Radiation, 5 years of aromatase medication. So I had fairly aggressive treatment even tho it was so small and surgery got clear margins, and there was no spread to other places. Different times I guess. I agree mammograms are lifesavers.
Thank for this show. My niece at 30 years was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was told that she was young and insurance would not pay for her mammogram. She was suspicious and said she did not care. Finally she found a doctor that agreed to get her a mammogram. Results she had breast cancer.. Always follow your instinct.❤
Hannah my prayers are with you and your family.
For those of us who don’t have moms anymore thanks Hannah ❤ needed to hear this. Never heard of it.
I was diagnosed with DCIS two weeks ago so this video hits close to home
I was diagnosed 5 years ago at age 44. So lucky they found it early. Good luck to you. ❤
Aw, I literally grew up watching her every day on ESPN. Get well, Hannah.
