    Very underrated steel its really good on my Crk Sebenza no complaints. I think when it came out magnacut over shadowed it.

      Spydercos grow on you. They look odd, ugly even. Like a dead pelican. Lol.
      But use it! Once you've spent the day with a Spyderco you can't deny their utility and you quickly learn every odd angle, curve and feature has a purpose. Eventually their weird aesthetic even becomes pleasant and you become drawn to it.
      Before you know it you have become......a Spydy fan!

    Spyderco is one of the greatest knife companies if not the greatest knife company in history. They have been making legitimate hard working knives is all fields for many many years and they are just getting better. Also, that tune you were humming is the Indians Jones theme song

    I like the s45vn 👍, S35VN too . Actually I haven’t noticed much difference with these super steels . To me , it’s kinda like how they build hype for new cartridges for guns . Always comparing to the tried and true cartridges like 30.06 . Yes , they’re better but only at one thing . It’s a sales tactic to get us excited . Still , I like to see it .👍

    • @doodysdaggers
      @doodysdaggers  Год назад +5

      Yeah I mean unless you’re doing cut tests it’s hard to notice a difference for sure. The only thing I notice is how often I need to strop.

      In my experience S45VN has a bit better edge retention than S30V & similar toughness to S35VN.

  • @RockyMountainEDC

    One of my favorite knives in my collection! However I personally have not been impressed with the S45VN. My manix 2 in S30V has required less maintenance. Thanks for the video !

    • @doodysdaggers
      @doodysdaggers  Год назад +1

      That makes sense! Is way rather have S45 than Magnacut. It’s real tough and real corrosion resistant, but just decent edge retention

      @rustyknifelover4463 Год назад +1

      @@doodysdaggers Depends on Heat Treat and the grind. My Hogue Ritter Mini RSK MK1-G2 in CPM Magnacut has incredible edge retention. It's with Scab now looking forward to seeing how it holds up. My Spartan Blades Pallas in S35VN has held up great. Only needing stropping. Even after Scab had it.

    so i went to a Hungarian shop to look at pm2 sv45n blade and the tip is terribly thin i was wondering if it ever falls out of the hand and touches the tip on the ground it is sideways and if it gets a higher force than a punch it will break it could be a cruWear blade it doesn't matter what do you think? thank you help

    I wonder how Spyderco’s S45VN performs against Reeves and Hinderer?
    The blade geometry of Reeve’s would be more compatible.
    Was the S45VN was as good as 15V?

    • @doodysdaggers
      @doodysdaggers  Год назад +1

      That would be an interesting comparison. My XM18 is in S45VN, maybe I will do a battle. With the regrind it’s a good cutter
      It was pretty close, but it seems like 15V held a sticky edge for a little longer.
