@@salmark9080 Yeah, same. Only game I’m some what looking forward to is Stellar Blade.. so I ended up doing a NG+ of Rebirth. "They want us to feel the same way as Cloud, empty and confused." Totally feel this. I had hope that we can change it. As Aerith said, "We can change it -- make it right." Feels like the knife went deeper and turned
@@prime8plays870 They meant to do that… at the same time, I’m pretty sure Aerith’s words will turn out to be true. They just weren’t necessarily about saving her.
Late comment, but I really enjoy THIS specific style of SpoilerCast way more than any of the previous SS+ ones. Going chapter by chapter discussing each point of the game along the way, instead of just general discussions hopping all over the place. As someone who comes to these after just finishing the game, hearing a rundown of each point of the game is so refreshing. Plus you can still have those general discussions along the way while still covering everything. I don't know, this style just feels so much more comprehensive and thorough. All that to say, great job Brad!
42:50 I think what Matty is missing is that many of us who played ff7 never used certain characters, so when a game for ex split the party and put red xiii with barrett twice, you HAVE to play them and learn them. It also build up a friendship which wasnt there within the party members before. Same with Caith Sith, I never ever used him in OG ff7 but now I even have to play AS HIM in the story. Or how Tifa and Aeris have their moment together and chat. They really want you to get to know the characters more and also experience their combat play style. I dont see that as "padding" or filler. Heck in original ff7 it was weird how nobody seemed to care about the "black robes" now we have the party addressing them, talking about them even protecting them and going off to help them during main story and sidequest, once again "not fillers" for me, it feels more real this time around, its real humans after all, in front of them. I see all that as "real fan service" which shouldnt just be about a "tifa bikini" as most ff7 players seem to think. And so yes, even the mithril mine as barrett and red xiii running off and helping "black robes" and chatting together while doing it has a real purpose in the game.
Not to mention Disc 2 is, IMO, entirely about the journey and not the destination. And Cait Sith is actually kinda OP when you learn him, I'm pretty sure his dodge mechanic, where he spins, has insane i frames that make him hard to hit plus you can jump off the Mog to avoid hits too. And Aerith with the wards is insane
@@Kevxtreme21 right, I could barely play him on my first normal playthrough, and so I had a very tough time in shinra manor, HOWEVER, in hard mode when I was "FORCED" to learn him and go through his abilities - I beat the enemies/boss MUCH easier when I figured him out and how to use the moogle toy for distraction and some serious physical DPS when needed. Its all about WHEN to mount/dismount the moogle and go from magical to physical dmg etc.
@@quezcatol Yeah, I had such a hard time fighting yin-yang and was probably one of the hardest bosses for me bc I had to figure it out. Maybe the game could've explained how to play Cait better but it's still better than him doing something the other characters already do And just to re-iterate what your fist comment said, almost nothing in this game felt like filler. If you truly enjoyed these characters and this world you'd play all the side quests and suck up every ounce of content it had to offer, so it's weird when people go on to talk to Brad (who obviously played and enjoyed almost everything the game has to offer) when you only kinda know the main story beats. He was left hanging quite a bit when he'd bring up a side quest or mini game. I literally didn't want my first playthrough to end and felt so empty after I had beaten it.
@@Kevxtreme21 yes, thats why when people mock/complain that the first sidequest in remake was looking for cats and killing rats as a waste of time, they dont get that... WE HAVE WAITED YEAAAARS to experience this remake. im not in a f-ing rush to speed into next mission, just running around the sector, WITH TIFA, and getting to learn about the neighborhood works for us and yes, even a small things like hunting rats isnt menacing its there for a reason - not to scare the player or feel "stressed out". But if you arnt a "fan" I can fully understand how this is just a distraction and you wanna go from A - B as soon as possible- as a long time fan who started with 7 back in 97, not me though.
1:06:45 Chadley is going to be a boss in Pt 3 I bet. Some kind of Chad Mecha or something that is triggered by Hojo at some pivotal part in the game haha.
I expect that the conclusion of the final side quest with him will result in him dying, and regaining the lifestream. I feel like that is the most logical conclusion to his arc
Unpopular Opinion. All Spoilercast/Review Discussions should be on free feeds. Unlike Colins terribly names Sacred Symbols episodes, these are the type of shows/episodes that could actually reach a whole new audience and actually add to the zeitgeist around the game. Brad did a great job hosting and deserves to have this conversation around RUclips to be passed around and talked about by people who also are discussing the game.
The Rufus fight is my favorite fight in the game. It is a complete flip on the combat from everything else in the game. I platinumed the game, I did everything. There is not a single fight like Rufus in the game. The casting while all the fights are happening too. It is gold.
not a fan when a game tells you it plays certain way and has certain rules then flushes it all down the toilet just to mess with you. i'm happy for those who found that canker sore of a fight fun
Game is absolutely awesome. Scale, graphics, art design, charachters, party dynamic, combat system, MUSUC, orography, minigames, emotions, secreta, depth....games like this are rarely done these days. Too bad many youngsters are more imterested in EA sports cards, gatchas and Fortnite skins, they are missing a true classuc released in their days.
“At journeys end” is a crisis core loveless tie in, for sure, and adding the “no promises await” is a nod to the addition of Aerith’s song. I’m just super surprised we didn’t get the line “nothing shall forestall my return” because Fricken Genesis said that line, I swear to god, like 20 times in crisis core. Super weird that it wasn’t in the G-version of loveless.
She’s the female character with the most character and personality in the entire game She is oozing so much charisma at every turn She always has something interesting to say
1:40:00 Dustin brings up that Tifa doesn't seem angry enough at Cloud for trying to kill her in Gongaga. But the reason for that is that Tifa learned something about her past and Cloud in particular while being in the lifestream. And Cloud is also very vulnerable with her when she wakes up, telling her about how he doesn't know where Cloud begins and the cellular degradation ends. They express this to each other and actually become closer to each other for it. Tifa knows that it wasn't actually Cloud doing that. She sees through it.
Yuffi has one the best character development in the game. Strange comment from Matty. I hated Yuffi going into Rebirth but ended up loving her character by the end, she’s going to be awesome in Part 3.
I get where he’s coming from. She really didn’t have great character development and if it was there it wasn’t meaningful. It was all about materia for her like 95% of the time. It’s really pretty surface level
She’s obnoxious and never shuts up about materia, but here and there her heart of gold shines through and you have her doing something like defending Barret against the Corel residents. She’s great.
@@DOC_951 Giving people Dachao beans and then complaining about “foreigners and their weak jaws.” Having not one but two fully rehearsed, choreographed, self-flattering introductions. Telling Cloud that he must be captivated by her bodacious beach bod. Loudly singing about how bored she is and how she’d rather be hunting materia. I think Yuffie is great, but she’s definitely written to be obnoxious. It’s indeed a less profound character flaw because she’s young.
I absolutely loved this game. GOTY for me for sure. The loved the ending because there’s so many questions and possibilities and I love that kind of shit.
They have said Glenn was always meant to be a new Rebirth character, and the game tells you all you need to know about him. They saw the opportunity to flesh out his backstory in Ever Crisis.
Fun fact, according to the devs, Glenn was actually conceptualized for Rebirth first, then they developed first soldier and by extension ever crisis and included his story.
Could Zack’s hypothetical party in part 3 be him and Aerith trying to “get back” to the “main timeline” and you play as them like 1/4 of the game time? 3:21:28
Hey Gene, long time fan! love your work for The Post and really appreciate your insights into the industry. Also thank you for the interview you did with Neil Druckmann last year about the Last of Us HBO adaptation. You chose my question first and Neil gave such an honest and detailed answer. Thank you so much for that experience!
30:46 I heard (haven’t confirmed for myself) that broden is a reference to an innkeeper in the OG that mentions feeling an urge to wear black at one point, then if you come back later in the game, he’s still an innkeeper, but he’s wearing a robe, so that implies that he was a former soldier if you pay attention to the clues. You are correct Brad, if you do the Nibelheim prototelic quest, the one where you get to shove robes around, he recognizes Broden in one of the parts of the quests and has a moment of sadness.
3:10:54 we have seen that effect before, sort of, in advent children when the trio are equipping the materia they stole, it shows them sort of being absorbed into their arms. We’ve just never thought of the actual mechanism of equipping a materia before, and why they always look much smaller when they’re equipped in a weapon etc.
I've gone through the game 3 times now (last one was just to record a YT story-only, deep-dive into lore and theory-crafting) and it's insane the level of detail you can find going back through from an already finished POV. Having seen the end, there's so many details and hints along the way for what I think they did and where they're going, and so many tie-ins to the full FF7 universe of games, books, and movie. It's always weird listening to other people's theories and ideas because sometimes I'm in total agreement, and other times I'm wondering how they possibly missed THIS detail or came to THAT conclusion. This game is freaking amazing.
Dustin used to have solid opinions - then he said "she's singing stupid songs" about Yuffie and I lost all respect. Gene is fucking ice cold ripping on the rizzless dead. ResetEra was right. Seriously, you guys are great. Can't wait to hear the rest of this massive spoilercast.
26:49 the zack conversation is very interesting, I’m watching a streamer named Whimsy Psyche who is going through rebirth, and has only played remake. She doesn’t know anything else about the series, but she’s been paying very good attention to what’s been going on, what’s being implied, and has correctly theorized what’s actually going on more often than not. In my opinion, even though it’s only one example, it’s a great example to me that there is enough in these games to keep up with what’s going on. It’s been amazing to watch someone go through the game and be able to figure out as much as she has, just by paying attention to the clues that have been left… so these people do exist!
3:31:48 interestingly, the scene you bring up here with cloud and tifa changes in the OG based on your decisions earlier, and there’s two dialogue options, one that implies they were comforting each other, and one implies that a lot more than that happens. 😳
I can see FF7R3 starting with Nibelheim flashback again. Nojima clearly put enough emphasis on it to make the whole town as early as FF7 Remake just for one line of dialogue from Cloud. The party skips to north crater in cutscenes and this time, it’s Sephiroth telling the account and showing Cloud that his memory was wrong.
it's funny - the endings of Remake and Rebirth had exactly opposing effects on me: Remakes ending was amplified by the fact that things might change and nothing is for certain while Rebirths ending was completely muted by them doubling down on the uncertainty yet again instead of delivering on one of gamings most iconic scenes or walking away from it and creating a new one. It's like that spinning top at the end of Inception. I watched it spin for the duration of two games and when I think the most pivotal moment for it to topple over or cut to black has finally come, DiCaprio just shows up again to throw a second spinning top on the table while just giving a triumphantly "didn't see that one coming, did ya?" Not a fan and also really can't see me suddenly getting the emotional catharsis about Aeriths death three years after the fact when Cloud finally gets his shit together. Idk, maybe part 3 is going to make it all worth it but I'm really sceptical - getting major LOST vibes here ngl.
I get what you're saying but a lot of the emotion back in the day was built in the shock of not knowing it was coming. These days it's THE video game spoiler and often heavily meme'd. As such I don't think they really could of done anything to truly capture the same emotion in the moment and so made the (imo) wise choice of shifting the emotional beat to Aerith being able to say goodbye earlier, and then double down on Clouds mental turmoil to make the eventual catharsis of the lifestream sequence stronger. Of course that depends on whether or not they nail that part, but obviously can't judge that till it happens lol.
I never played the og FF7 so I wouldn’t have any expectations set but I assume you’re talking about the Aerith death Playing this game I thought the ending was cool but very blue balled Like I just don’t feel like we went anywhere significant story wise I don’t dislike it, but I’m not foaming at the mouth itching to play part 3 Cause I just feel like this story keeps going around in circles and doesn’t commit very much
@@darthmarth87I kinda disagree. I don't think knowing what happens takes away the emotion of the scene. It's all about how they pull it off. Many people, including me, are very excited to see how they do the life stream section in part 3. But why should I? Given that I've played the OG and know what's going to be revealed. That scene hasn't lost any of its emotional weight because I've seen it before, I want to see how they reinterpret it in this new series. This can be extended to the Remake series as a whole. If you already know what's going to happen, why play it? While I wasn't disappointed about how they handled Aerith's death in Rebirth, I feel like it leaned too heavily on familiarity with the original game. Which is weird since Square constantly says they want new players to play the Remake series.
the opening to remake still makes me shed a tear. I'm so happy this project was started. remakes story length was the same as rebirths story length which is a bit of a headscratcher considering remake only covers the first 6-8 hour section of Og, but I have faith square will figure it out. I just don't see how they can cram what's left to cover in the last game unless its 90 hours of straight story. I guess we'll find out in the future though. also i know ppl think rebirth is longer, but its only longer if u run around in the world doing mini games and intel and remnowave towers. if u just mainline the two games stories they are the same length, give or take an hour
My ideas for subtitle of part 3: -Rebellion (ties into idea of fighting fate and sephiroth plans) - Reality/ties - Recoded (that’s a Nomura/JRPG title lol)
Loved the game. Couldn't stop playing the first weekend it was out. I thought the ending was pretty poorly executed though and left a bad taste. Didn't bother with any side content afterwards. Not being able to change materia mid battle is definitely my biggest problem with the gameplay. Use assess on a boss, see what they're weak to,quit out and redo party members/materia got tiresome. Wasn't that much of an issue for normal battles.
I've come to the conclusion, so far, that evne though it is a multiverse kinda what if story, the number of universes or which characters come from which don't matter too much. At first we were following the 2 different Stamp dogs and then Zack creates 3 more universes, and when Aerith takes Cloud on that walk/date at the end (pretty sure was a Crisis Core reference that nobody here brought up) there was ANOTHER stamp that shows up as a toy. So, to me, it feels like the games saying 'Hey there's a bunch of em, don't worry about that and just enjoy where the story is going'
It would be interesting if it was more of a Zanarkand dreamscape version of multiple planes of existance like Gene is saying, rather than actial mulitverse timeline stuff. Although all the theorizing is why im enjoying the remake trilogy so much.
@@raspberrycordial5996 yeah I think anything is possible I just don’t want gene or anyone really to be like oh it sucks the whole trilogy sucks just cause it’ may end up as a multiverse story and he’s sold himself on it not being one cause he hates them
The existence of the Whispers, and them being the arbiters of Fate, means that there is one destined timeline. If you assess the White Whispers in the last chapters, you learn they have taken on the role of Whisper Harbinger who was destroyed at the end of Remake, to ensure the destined timeline. If there are multiple worlds, then they are secondary to the main timeline.
Yuffie is a kid and her selfishness and energetic antics line up with that. She also has a reason to act like this, she's from a colonized nation and thinks that gathering enough materia will give Wutai the power to drive out Shinra/Midgar for good. Also, she does put aside her materia obsession by the time you reach the Temple. She realizes how dangerous the Black Materia is and puts Aerith's death/safety over her mission.
to the fat guy in the mario shirt, around the 1hr40 mark, the reason tifa is still ok with cloud is she sees its all sephiroths doing and that cloud never had a grudge against her when they were kids (could possibly be future aeriths way of deflecting sephiroths attempt to sabotage their relationship)
Definitely wish for Rebirth save carryover to get initial rewards at start of Part 3, even only in portion or selected areas such as summons or learned skills. Right, great if were materias, weapons and accessories but would overlap a lot of Part 3, like only up to midway originally to collect so much. That's why learned skills aren't too much a buff, and the characters limit break moves aren't full in Rebirth. Definitely continue to have Queen's Blood players. Maybe Fort Condor would replace. Even better if already allows change of costumes but no other costumes at start and earn more later.
I like requiem, that’s my best guess, and I’ve been saying so for a while. It fits the themes, and it’s synonymous with Dirge, so that’s a fun little nod.
I finished Rebirth last night and my prediction for the finale name is Final Fantasy 7: Resurrection. It just sounds right. Especially given the ending.
I can't see the sense in believing it'll end up the same way. They end both games telling you that the future isn't written. "the unknown journey continues" "no promises await at journeys end". I feel like you guys took the opposite away from what they're trying to do. Now about that Aerith at the end. I know Cloud is an unreliable narrator, but just before she speaks to him as they're about taking off, she touch's Nanaki and he senses her. Is that not the game telling us "THIS IS AERITH"? We know they use the black robes to trick Rufus by having one appear as Glenn, but he was visible to everyone around Rufus unlike Aerith is here. I don't think this is a trick. They're cooking something and I think they're cooking a happy ending. Maybe Lightning Returns level happy.
The Planet is going through the same thing Cloud is. There are no timelines, only worlds based on memories of the planet, exactly how Cloud’s memories took the form of worlds when Tifa was walking him through correcting them. That’s why they’re vignettes of a world, and also why they can be altered/corrupted like Cloud’s memories can be… but those don’t alter reality. Just because you remember something differently doesn’t necessarily mean that’s how it really happened. That’s why the Planet cries out in pain when other “worlds” ( or incorrect memories ) are created. It’s just like when Cloud gets his headaches and he rewrites his memories to something false. Those go away after Tifa sets him right, because he’s accepted the truth of his memories rather than hide from those realities. The irony of Sephiroth is always that the harder he fights his humanity, the more he is the arbiter of his own undoing. He facilitates the creation of these worlds to draw more power, but he’s also making the main characters come to terms with their despair. In the end, everyone will have to accept that Aerith is dead, Zack never got back to her, Cloud couldn’t save either of them, etc and that’s what sets them apart from Sephiroth who desperately clings to life and hungers for the power to bend reality to his will.
That doesnt have any sense. I can think at least of 10 things about why this theory is incorrect. But lets stick to this. These world based on incorrect memories (not the OG timeline) how can be called.....oh yes, timelines? And what created them initially...the end of Remake and destruction of the Arbiter of Destiny?
wow, gene's opinions and sentiments mirror my own... also was not a big aerith guy till these remakes revealed quirks that made her incredibly endearing... also i don't think there's any multiverse stuff going on, this is just a retelling of the og ff7
Finally rolled the credits on this one. There were aspects I absolutely loved about this game and by and large I did enjoy it. However there was filler in this game. It didn’t need to be as long as it was. Thankfully you could skip a lot of it. I’m still undecided on the ending as the multiverse stuff does make it convoluted
Reno being absent is pretty rough. They did it out of respect for the Japanese voice actor who had a long term illness and wasnt up for doing voice recording. But it is a shame as reno is such a good character and they only get to remake this game once so its a shame that there isnt more time for reno to shine.
and why do ya'll say its vaguely frustrating? they have to leave mystery there is a third game coming out in the future. if it was all spelled out it wouldnt be interesting. and ill also add these games have already shown u they arent exactly the same as og story. did yall forget aerith visits cloud in the resolution scene of remake? the info in that scene alone tells u this is not just a retelling of og story. i could list off another 100 things. advent children music from the beginning of ff7 remake. aerith being hunted down at the beginning of remake, the very beginning in the start up cut scene, before remake even starts. anyone that disagrees go educate yourselves. I will say though that it is still possible this is more of an adaptation, which would mean they could just do anything and say this is the new ff7. i just dont see them scrapping the og ff7 events. bc if they say this was just a new adaptation of Og ff7s story, that would mean both games cant be cannon, and i dont see them doing that personally. to many things have shifted for both to coexist story wise if this is the case,. i personally believe sephiroth has found a way post Og ff7 to have a do-over of sorts, which has led to the events of remake and rebirth. just my opinion. which would mean that this is an extention of the og ff7 story, (for lack of a better word a sequel of sorts) though i wouldnt call it a sequel really its more a continuation. its like ff7 og just ended and this all picked up right after the end of it immediately. at least thats how i percieve it.
I think everyone is overreacting about the option to not play Zacks sections in ng+. If you actually play ng+ there’s a lot of the game you can’t (re)play. It’s only the side quests and main story. No proterelic quests, basically nothing that’s not green and that’s only if you didn’t finish some side quests or reset them. I think the only reason they put that option in is because there is literally zero gameplay in those sections. So if you want to skip it you can. Most people replay hard mode to take on the bosses with all their gear and to have a real challenge. I played a 100+ hour first playthrough then platinumed the game in hard mode. I believe I beat the game in hard mode in less than 25 hours. And if it wasn’t for a couple bosses and a couple side quests, it would’ve been less than 20. Spent about the same time on the VR challenges for the platinum. Without a guide, those brutal and legendary challenges are well, brutal. Now I’m doing a slow run in dynamic. It’s honestly nuts how much of the game is “missing” in ng+. Honestly wish they had a hard mode that had the complete game for people who are obsessed with the game like myself lol. Cheers!
The preference of Tifa over Aerith is crazy. Aerith and Cloud have so much great banter, and the whole theme of the game being her love song to him and all the ending stuff builds on that way more. Wild
Cloud is just a cute boy who reminds aerith of her old cute boyfriend. Tifa is a real woman who stands by her man no matter what, they are both going through mental issues and are there for each other. It's true love vs aerith's puppy love
@@temryava_ Aerith admits she doesn't even know the 'real' Cloud, how can she be in love with someone who's not even acting like himself. Maybe you should go back and play em lol

@@temryava_ Ok yeah I can agree with that. I was kinda exaggerating/over simplyfying with my 1st comment anyways, the relationship between them is def more complex than that (much like most of the characters relationships in this series). The ending of this game was really dumb. One of the most iconic moments in gaming history was siphoned of all emotion and replace with utter bewilderment. No one knew what the fuck was going on during their first playthrough. Yes, upon rewatching and many RUclips videos things start to (seemingly) make more sense, and the overall direction is still cool, but that doesn’t change the fact that I went from the edge of my seat to slouching and nodding my head because I didn’t know what was happening or what was actually at stake because every 5 minutes there could be a nomura multiverse ass pull. (Yes I know Nojima is the writer, shut up he was clearly influenced). While I’m mad now, the payoff in the 3rd game may be worth it. If so, this will be the greatest gaming trilogy ever. But for now I will bitch.
The pluses are the combat, impressive big world, and lots of optional content. The minuses for me is I have no nostalgia for final fantasy so I have no ties to the characters and lore, the game might be a bit too massive, and the writing is often corny as hell
I genuinely don’t understand the choice to spoil the original Final Fantasy 7 along with this one. Why? It limits the audience for this episode when you can easily just talk about the game itself
Cloud looks like a chocobo, the girls cant get enough of chocobos, he has that haircut for a reason- dont be fooled by him, its deliberate. I wouldnt even be shocked if he wasnt even blond, and in his "memory/story" his mom is blonde? I wouldnt bank on it being true either, that guy is up to no good! And that huge sword he is carrying around? yeah, go figure why that is.

I just finished the game yesterday and I have mixed feelings about it.
Maybe the game could've explained how to play Cait better but it's still better than him doing something the other characters already do
And just to re-iterate what your fist comment said, almost nothing in this game felt like filler.
Is ok bro... No one is crying to hear other people opinion of game. We'll be fine.
I believe all spoilercasts and review discussions do go up on free feeds eventually, right? I can't think of any that are permanently paywalled
I agree about the dumb SS episode titles, way to pretentious and makes me not want to watch them
If the demand is there and you are good at it you should never give it away for free
They do after a bit.
The Rufus fight is my favorite fight in the game. It is a complete flip on the combat from everything else in the game. I platinumed the game, I did everything. There is not a single fight like Rufus in the game. The casting while all the fights are happening too. It is gold.
That’s the most frustrating fight on remake and again here on rebirth.
not a fan when a game tells you it plays certain way and has certain rules then flushes it all down the toilet just to mess with you. i'm happy for those who found that canker sore of a fight fun
Brad did an excellent job hosting. This was easily one of the best spoilercasts/reviews done by LSM
2:54:00 interesting.
I took that scene as Cloud suppressing what just happened in real time. Much like he suppresses Zach's death
1:26:20 you can actually “fail” to get someone on the first date. Cloud wanders around the gold saucer by himself and it’s super sad and pitiful
Is that where the cutscene plays with Cloud passing by Jessie’s photo and saying “Still waiting for that pizza… 😔”?
@@zeldaoot23that’s during the second date in chapter 12, I haven’t seen them all, but he does say that during the yuffie date
Imagine hating Yuffie in this game… smh
I know right? Like wtf man?! How? Shes so fuckin adorable, its like hating a puppy..
@@chochopopstv3468 honestly her character has gotten the biggest glow up from the OG
Dustin drinking that Hatorade the whole episode lol
definitely a red flag
She’s the female character with the most character and personality in the entire game
She is oozing so much charisma at every turn
She always has something interesting to say
1:40:00 Dustin brings up that Tifa doesn't seem angry enough at Cloud for trying to kill her in Gongaga. But the reason for that is that Tifa learned something about her past and Cloud in particular while being in the lifestream. And Cloud is also very vulnerable with her when she wakes up, telling her about how he doesn't know where Cloud begins and the cellular degradation ends. They express this to each other and actually become closer to each other for it. Tifa knows that it wasn't actually Cloud doing that. She sees through it.
And she’s in love with him, people forgive all kinds of things when they are in love
She’s great.
hated is crazy..
@@zeldaoot23how is she obnoxious? She’s like 16…
@@DOC_951 Giving people Dachao beans and then complaining about “foreigners and their weak jaws.” Having not one but two fully rehearsed, choreographed, self-flattering introductions.
Didn't know where Brad went so I missed his thoughts on FF7 Rebirth, such a masterpiece and happy to have found this spoilercast
They have said Glenn was always meant to be a new Rebirth character, and the game tells you all you need to know about him. They saw the opportunity to flesh out his backstory in Ever Crisis.
In the E3 2015 trailer Gi Nattak uses the word "Remembrance". So it would be pretty cool if Part 3's title was hiding in plain sight all along.
That is 100% going to be the name, good catch
I thought it was going to be Reunion
@@jjkazempourreunion was already used for crisis core, the director said he can’t use reunion because of it
Normally I am not a big fan of cancelling people but Dustin's comments on Yuffie makes me reconsider that.
Fun fact, according to the devs, Glenn was actually conceptualized for Rebirth first, then they developed first soldier and by extension ever crisis and included his story.
Hell yeah, looking forward to this. ❤ Excellent panel.
Could Zack’s hypothetical party in part 3 be him and Aerith trying to “get back” to the “main timeline” and you play as them like 1/4 of the game time?
3:21:28
I’m glad this is at least on RUclips, even though it’s not on Spotify.
Hell yeah , can’t wait for part three. They hit all the right notes
Yay I finally get to see Brad talk about this game!
Just rolled creds and come to watch - has this in my watch list for months 👍🏾. Side note: Sephiroth is an OG
This game is in the leagues with GOW 2018 and TLOU 1 & 2 while also being one of the best entries in the entire FF series. Just wow.
2:47:40 Cloud took Zack phrase "you'll be my living legacy" at the end of Crisis Core too straightforward.
"Don't worry Aerith, I'll take care of Sephiroth!"
"You promise?"
"I promise!"

"** No Promises Await At Journey's End **"
It was a revelation. I couldn’t believe, hell, I still can’t believe how incredible Rebirth is.
I need Brad and Gene present for any FF and FFVII podcasts/topics. I do wish more of the guests played the side quests though as they were all so fun.
The people demand a monthly weeb council meeting with this lineup!
Need to add Lock for balance
@@Shrewdy1 lock is the weeb king who oversees the council, of course
Agree Rebirth was great. VII is my favorite game of all time. agree with 95 % of what you boys said. Part 3. Reconcile.
Perfect timing! I just completed the game!
3:31:48 interestingly, the scene you bring up here with cloud and tifa changes in the OG based on your decisions earlier, and there’s two dialogue options, one that implies they were comforting each other, and one implies that a lot more than that happens. 😳
I love playing cait sith he's got the whole rosalina and luma or ice climbers thing going on from smash bros.
I feel like Queen's Blood was teased but you all didn't circle back to it! Someone please correct me if i zoned out and missed it lol
Zack's party is cisnei and kyrie and biggs.
it's funny - the endings of Remake and Rebirth had exactly opposing effects on me:
Remakes ending was amplified by the fact that things might change and nothing is for certain while
Rebirths ending was completely muted by them doubling down on the uncertainty yet again instead of delivering on one of gamings most iconic scenes or walking away from it and creating a new one.
It's like that spinning top at the end of Inception. I watched it spin for the duration of two games and when I think the most pivotal moment for it to topple over or cut to black has finally come, DiCaprio just shows up again to throw a second spinning top on the table while just giving a triumphantly "didn't see that one coming, did ya?"
Not a fan and also really can't see me suddenly getting the emotional catharsis about Aeriths death three years after the fact when Cloud finally gets his shit together.
I never played the og FF7 so I wouldn’t have any expectations set but I assume you’re talking about the Aerith death
Playing this game I thought the ending was cool but very blue balled
Like I just don’t feel like we went anywhere significant story wise
I don’t dislike it, but I’m not foaming at the mouth itching to play part 3
Cause I just feel like this story keeps going around in circles and doesn’t commit very much
@@darthmarth87I kinda disagree.
And now time for the Colin and Brad version 🙏
Thanks for putting this up for free, super excited to get everyone's nitty-gritty thoughts on Rebirth
Man that would be so cool if zack ended up in our world at the end and as a post game you could play as zack in the open world.
the opening to remake still makes me shed a tear.
My ideas for subtitle of part 3:
-Rebellion (ties into idea of fighting fate and sephiroth plans)
- Reality/ties
- Recoded (that’s a Nomura/JRPG title lol)
Loved the game. Couldn't stop playing the first weekend it was out.
I thought the ending was pretty poorly executed though and left a bad taste. Didn't bother with any side content afterwards.
Not being able to change materia mid battle is definitely my biggest problem with the gameplay.
Use assess on a boss, see what they're weak to,quit out and redo party members/materia got tiresome.
Wasn't that much of an issue for normal battles.
U get to use zack and sephiroth in chadley mission Matty wow how u not know that
Do you?? Which ones?
@@HermanFalckHow the very hard mode ones they r like the last ones u get
Gene is setting himself up for disappointment by convincing himself it isn’t a multiverse story
@@raspberrycordial5996 Yeah I agree, a lot of possibilities are still on the table
The original game taught me how to cope with losing someone. The remake taught me how to cope with losing interest with the franchise moving forward.
She realizes how dangerous the Black Materia is and puts Aerith's death/safety over her mission.
to the fat guy in the mario shirt, around the 1hr40 mark, the reason tifa is still ok with cloud is she sees its all sephiroths doing and that cloud never had a grudge against her when they were kids (could possibly be future aeriths way of deflecting sephiroths attempt to sabotage their relationship)
great post game discussion. going through the whole game.
Around 6:30 is when they actually start talking about the game proper.
FF9 is also my favorite, surprised it's Mattys as well.
This game’s greatest sin, and what keeps it from being great is how much it slows you down and artificially extends its length.
Yuffie is a materia girl in a materia world.
Wait you can get an auto parry if you go into punisher mode ..... I hardly used it and I best the game 2 weeks ago haha
the 3rd game will be ff7: Restore
Take a shot everytime someone says 'dude'
and why do ya'll say its vaguely frustrating? they have to leave mystery there is a third game coming out in the future. if it was all spelled out it wouldnt be interesting. and ill also add these games have already shown u they arent exactly the same as og story. did yall forget aerith visits cloud in the resolution scene of remake? the info in that scene alone tells u this is not just a retelling of og story. i could list off another 100 things. advent children music from the beginning of ff7 remake. aerith being hunted down at the beginning of remake, the very beginning in the start up cut scene, before remake even starts. anyone that disagrees go educate yourselves.
Matty saying he fucked up by getting Barrett made me crack up laughing cause I felt the same way when I got red
I wanna see Gene doing the Rufus fight.

@@temryava_ Ok yeah I can agree with that. For a second I was going to be like.. "What!?!? Colin already finished it?". Haha- bookmarking this for a later watch. Still on Ch.9
But for now I will bitch.
with P3 we will have a complete picture on FF7R...
but base on how i see it, the Remake project of FF7 has no vision, they make it as they go along...

Ahh yes, the famous Jack Mackleson 2:40:30 😅
The pluses are the combat, impressive big world, and lots of optional content. The minuses for me is I have no nostalgia for final fantasy so I have no ties to the characters and lore, the game might be a bit too massive, and the writing is often corny as hell
I genuinely don’t understand the choice to spoil the original Final Fantasy 7 along with this one. Why? It limits the audience for this episode when you can easily just talk about the game itself
We are a million dollar ip now cloud. Dat means we are destined for each other
Cloud looks like a chocobo, the girls cant get enough of chocobos, he has that haircut for a reason- dont be fooled by him, its deliberate. I wouldnt even be shocked if he wasnt even blond, and in his "memory/story" his mom is blonde? I wouldnt bank on it being true either, that guy is up to no good! And that huge sword he is carrying around? yeah, go figure why that is.
The third game is going to reveal that Cloud's father... is a chocobo!
And not just any chocobo. A golden chocobo.
Love how the Gi just straight up are the Phantoms from FF: Spirits Within.... Even if that movie sucked nut-balls
Dont worry about Clouds rizless in game chick magnetism. IRL girls wants Vincent.
I feel the same way gene about aerith in the og game. I didnt care for aerith to be honest. But loseing her in this game really broke me. I really felt like I lost someone close. I was fucking balling fighting jenova. I was sitting telling myself what the fuck is wrong with you this is just a fucking video game lmao why are you crying lol
Yuffie has to be the best character both in combat and dialogue
I just finished the game yesterday and I have mixed feelings about it.
Pros -
Graphics, World, Characters, Soundtrack, Combat are all incredible
Cons -
Way too much filler content, way too many slow paced sections, game got a bit tedious and boring from chapter 10 onwards and way too many boss battles towards the end
I think the name is going to be Final Fantasy VII: Resolution
