Sure, but the thing is that he wants NINJA GAIDEN, I kinda get it. Like there are a lot of games like Mega man, but he wants the real thing. I would play both. I would play the Blasphemous games and Ninja Gaiden but I get it.
Colin being so against Astro Bot winning game of the year and even claiming its pro Sony bias is so surprising to me. Did we play the same game? I know Colin loves PlayStation how did a 10/10 platformer that celebrates the history of PlayStation not do more for you? It has a 94 on metacritic, it’s the highest rated game of the year.
I would say it doesn't look awful. The truth is much worse. It looks like nothing. If you'd told me that was DLC for Borserlands 3, I wouldn't have questioned it for a second, and not even taken a second to think how uninteresting it looked. At least awful would have kept my thoughts on topic fpr a little while, being disappointed at X bad choice, or Y terrible song choice etc...
I'm by all means not defending Borderlands 4, but let's be honest. Borderlands 1 had generic characters, Borderlands 2 had generic characters at launch. I do think the cyborg barbarian guy looks cool. But eh.
I don’t agree with the guys all the time, but I think they’re pretty smart and well spoken. However, I think Colin’s take on astrobot was pretty unfounded and came off to me as a little ignorant.
I really need Colin to clarify what he thinks "no disrespect" means. You can't say you think Astrobot winning is proposterous, and that you think it was held aloft by Sony bias, but hide behind "let me clarify, i liked it. I loved it. I bought it twice." You are undermining the accomplishments of a very talented and hard working team that put together the most complete and thoroughly fun entry on that nominee list. I loved every game on that list. Any one of them could have won. Edit: grammar
@@Psilo_Sybin That's also not true. People tend to assume their own perspective and echo chamber is the prevailing one. I preferred BM:W to Astrobot, but Astrobot absolutely slayed when it released - people are still discovering it. It's not a multiplatform game remember so doesn't have the reach BM:W has. BM:W also required a longer tail to complete (and harder to complete in fewer sessions for many). But Asobi continues to release challenge maps and expanding content. I thought BM:W was stunning, but strip away the stunning visuals and it's a competent but unremarkable action rpg game.
Personally I think Rebirth deserved GOTY but I’m happy with the award going to Astro Bot. I’m just glad DLC didn’t steal the award. I love Elden Ring but it already got its flowers.
I haven't played FF VII Rebirth or Metaphor but everyone that says they're good always complains about bloat and slowdown in the game. I Platinumed Astro Bot and the game was fun and didn't have bloat or waste your time. The platforming was crisp, concise and top of class. I had no issue with it winning GOTY.
Chris: ff7 rebirth and metaphor are too long. No, if you enjoy a game they arnt "too long" because they are closing in on 100 hours. Its just that much content for the fans. If you dont enjoy red dead rdemption 2 im sure it was 30+ hour too long as well. And yes, Persona 5 royal at 120 hours works as well for us fans.
Yeah! It's Exciting. It's also funny a Franchise known for being on PlayStation. And the Trailer features a fat Microsoft logo at the beginning. I'm glad it won't get stuck on PlayStation but still funny. Hey also Turok! is back too. Looks interesting. Let's hope Saber can knock it out.
Sorry but the defense of companies selling shit for 80 dollars and saying well you gotta waste your money before you can make a statement on it even if you watch reviews clips and streams is absurd money and time are limited and these companies don't deserve us giving them the benefit of the doubt we are the customer and first impressions are 90% reason for a sale.
Colin's refusal to admit Astro is worthy of even being a GOTY *contender*, is hilarious. Chris is correct, the right game won. Astro is simply a game that knows what it is and excels at everything it does - it's just damn fun to play. I think sometimes people get bogged down with weighing up various aspects like narrative, performances etc - sometimes a videogame just has to be FUN. But I don't understand the question of "why was Erdtree there and why was an exception made" - it was on the nominations because it got enough votes to be there, but not enough votes to win in those categories. It's pretty straightforward tbh. No "exceptions" were made, Phantom Liberty was also eligible last year but 2023 was a stronger year
Disagree that the “right” game won. Astro definitely deserves it, but I would have been fine with any of the others winning(except Erdtree, because it isn’t a new game).
I don't love Astro bot like the rest of you, but I'm not someone who grew up on Super Mario 64. I got a N64 late, by then I had no reason to want or play that game. None of my friends who had one, brought that game to my attention. I did own and love the 2D Mario games. I just love 2D platformers so much more
People really don't understand how these award shows functions. Games in the same year are compared against each other. Not compared against all games in the history of games. Shadow of the Erdtree has 95 on metacritic. It is one of the highest rated game of all time.
They updated the controls of Onimusha HD. These guys need to stop talking about things they don't know about. If you don't know something, it's fine to say, "I don't know."
This the same company which a white male untalented hack Niel Duckman , who got a women fired (Amy H who clearly was 1000x more talent than him ) and stole her job ? Now hes pushing w0ke political and propaganda .. Yeah your comment sounds legit .....
2:33:36 Colin and Dustin are being disingenous here per usual. Ciri never took the trial of grasses because women can't survie the trial of grasses. Therefore, she shouldn't have cat eyes and shouldn't be able to drink Witcher potions. That's my understanding anyway.
Yeah but Ciri also has teleporting powers so she's not just a regular human who would have struggle through the Witcher initiation. I felt like Ciri becoming a witcher was pretty obvious having only played 3, Vesemir and Geralt were training her since she was a child.
Seems like you guys don't know a lot about Michel Ancel, or haven't heard about the allegations, but whether they are true or not, that is definitely the number one reason why he disappeared.
Colin - your comment about the buzz cutting makes no sense. You absolutely hold it like that. I'm assuming you've always had a clipper guard attached. Then you obviously wouldn't need to, but without it it's like shaving with a knife with the cutting edge against the skin. You probably don't understand what I'm saying but stop trying to act smart, please? You're not.
I've seen so many people comment about the clipper orientation... but I literally use clippers like that all the time, usually as second pass as it catches even more hairs. I don't get the big deal lol.
Colin's lame reaction to Astro Bot winning game of the year, it's a gigantic disappointing goddamn bummer. Astro Bot is absolutely brilliant. It represents everything that's joyful and good in video games. I was ecstatic to see it win, it's far and away the best game of this year.
@@MisterK-YT Not OP but there are tons of videos of Steve Jobs praising Sony's products and marketing (along with others like Nike, old Disney, Coke, etc.) but it carries more weight with Sony since it's another electronics company. Just lookup Steve Jobs Sony
He's been consistent in not liking them for many years. Aside from Last Guardian (mid) I have love for ICO and Shadow. I'm a huge ps2 lover though. That's Colin's least favorite PS console
@@boochtron I just wasn't aware of that. It is all his opinion, and I am glad/respect that he is being authentic, but his least favorite console being the PS2 is actually so incredibly the opposite of my opinion, that it is hard to take Colin too seriously... especially when he talks about how the PS5 has so many great games. PS2 crushes it by any metric I care about.
Why is Colin only eating once a day if it’s making him sick? I’ve heard him tell a bunch of stories now where he’s getting sick and I don’t get the logic behind the one meal per day lol.
Colin thinks that if he only eats bad once a day and exercises it won't catch up to him. That's literally not how it works. You can't outrun a bad diet. Even if you only consume a certain amount of food a day.
1:12:32 - There's a reason Sony acquired a ~15% influencing stake of FromSoft in '22. They WANT more exclusives and if the acquisition happens, it WILL result in more console exclusive games with maybe an eventual release to PC years later. Continued releases on Xbox will not happen unless Kadokawa is allowed to run itself, which it probably won't especially if they part ways with the Natsuno administration like the employees desire.
This will blow your mind Sacred crew! To anyone not aware, Temple of Doom is a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark. That is why there are no Nazis. Anytime I want to watch the Indy movies again I always start with that one. Lucas loves prequels (as any Star Wars fan can tell you)
Colin, when his feelings get hurt, is catty and condescending in a way that would make even the most stereotypical mean girls larper Karen balk. Just utterly incapable of speaking in a fair-minded manner with even a shred of humility. He may have been kicked out of that clique but he really does belong next to guys like Greg Miller and Tamoor Hussain and whoever is at IGN these days.
I got to be honest that ND trailer looked awful to me. Top to bottom awful!!!! I hope the gameplay is good enough to pull me in cause none of that did.
As a huge fan of Max, I’d love to see him on the show. I’m surprised Brad or Dustin didn’t try to get him on for the FF7 spoiler cast, maybe they tried and he was too busy? I’ve been hoping they could get him on at some point, but Max is a very busy Dood.
Glad Chris mentioned Bloody Roar. Id just love if at some point we just saw a wolflike face in shadows as a teaser. And then an announcement of a new entry in the series, It's time. Unfortunately I think Konami holds the rights and I don't think they're interested in reviving the series.
3:59:05 Chris I am quite sure you haven't played both Rebirth and Metaphore. How do you know that they are bloated? I have absolute zero respect to game media people when they talk about the game they did not play at least significant time.
@@hododod246 dude… to each his own but you can’t say rebirth wasn’t bloated. Even the developers mentioned making the next game with fewer mini-games. there’s even a certain part of the game when, after getting a certain vehicle, more objectives pop up in each of the regions. Getting rid of hiccups is easy. You just have to empty your lungs and hold it for as long as it takes to expel the burps. Might take over a minute. Works every time for me.
@@dtanobo why stop? clearly this new approach isn't working. character creators or choosing gender for the main character is clearly the move. how many flops will it take for them to realize this?
@@markymark637 Who's stopping? You do realise a majority of games still lead men right? Sorry that now some major titles, have female leads. The bigger question is, why are segments of the gaming audience too repulsed by playing female characters? Why does it bother you that there are some major games that are doing this? Have you not had the same thing for god knows how long? And are we calling Horizon games flops? And I know chuds want to believe otherwise but TLOU 2 was also not a flop. In fact, it was extremely successful. If you think The Witcher 4 will be a flop, that's actually crazy. And choosing the character doesn't allow for character stories. It works for specific kinds of games.
If Intergalactic wasn't a Naughty Dog game, most people would say that was a mid or bad trailer. There was nothing interesting about it until the last 5 seconds or so. I see people saying that this will sell 10+ million copies just because it's Naughty Dog, but that's ridiculous imo. TLOU II has sold 10+ million copies, plus a little more with the remaster, but the first one has sold 30+ million with all the versions combined. I'm not saying it'll flop, but it'll probably do half of TLOU II's initial sales on release and if it's received poorly, then it'll probably sell significantly less than TLOU II. THis is a new IP. It doesn't have any name recognition to help it like TLOU II, which probably would've sold even less and would've been received worse if didn't have that, I think. My biggest concerns for this are the writing and the acting. The only thing I've seen Tati Gabriel in is the Uncharted movie and I thought she wasn't very good, so that concerns me. As far as the writing goes, I love Uncharted 4 and liked Lost Legacy and TLOU, which Neil Druckmann was a big part of, but I think Bruce Straley was a bigger part of those and Neil didn't gain full control until TLOU II, which IMO, the writing sucked. Uncharted is my favorite franchise, but it isn't the same people. We'll see, but I'm very skeptical.
Some devs/studios have just built up the rep over the years to the point where just announcing your next game gets people excited. Yeah we know nothing about it but personally I’ve liked/loved every ND game before this so I have reason to doubt I’ll at least like this one. I don’t need to know anything about Kojima’s next project to know I’m excited for it
@@tonydub98 I'm not talking about getting excited for a new project just because it's a studio you're a fan of. I'm guilty of the same thing. I'm excited about project Century from RGG Studio, even though we know nothing about it. You can be excited about it for that reason, but some people are also talking about how great the trailer was, even though it barely showed anything. Just two characters talking. That's what I'm criticizing.
Neil Druckman’s Naughty Dog is completely unappealing to me. People writing off all criticism as identity politics is just dumb, that was about as generic of a game reveal as I’ve seen.
Thought I was the only one, and not even a slice of gameplay? Cmon man it’s been 4 years surely there’s a vertical slice they could’ve shown. I’ll wait to see more but that felt like a snooze-fest of a reveal I’ll be honest
Dude cares more about pushing his ideals and narratives than delivering actual gameplay on any of their games. High graphic fidelity doesn't cut it anymore.
@@lostinlucidityI don’t think that’s completely fair. Most games are revealed with a cg trailer with no gameplay (I don’t like it but it’s hardly the only one). Also, I think the gameplay mechanics in Uncharted 4 and TLOU1&2 are really solid and fun. The write up about this new game says this will be the deepest gameplay and combat system ND have built yet. It’s just a teaser anyhow, I’ll reserve any judgement for actual details. I’m just happy they’re making a new IP. Isn’t that what we all wanted?
Felt the same. From the main protagonist I got that rebellious teenage angst vibes which is VERY off-putting. Then her fixer(I'm assuming) has a weird thing going on of the voice actor not matching what the character looks like. The fixer looks like she's supposed to be a badass yet the voice actress lacks any authority or gravitas to her voice... Very weird casting decision.
You guys may say it later in the episode but wasn’t there a trademark or something in the last year for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet? I swear I have heard that name before tonight but can’t remember where. Not a great title for a game, but otherwise I am pumped for a new Naughty Dog IP.
@@BushLitter thank you. Yes I actually just saw a tweet from Gematsu reposting their own story where they noted the new SIE trademark with the name. Knew I had heard it before!
Yes, go to episode 294 around 44 minutes to hear Colin talk shit about the title lol. It's just funny to hear now that we know it's his friend Neil Druckmann's game and he was dunking so hard on the name, lol.
To be fair everyone will just call it “Intergalactic”. Every Uncharted has a longer title too. E.g. Uncharted 1: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves etc. almost no one really calls them that
Most of my friends really liked seeing the anime gacha games lol. It just hurts when you have a game like Wuthering Waves which looks similar to Genshin, then Arad World which REALLY looks like Genshin on top of Star Rail which is from the same dev team who did Genshin. Wuthering and Star Rail are legit good games for Gacha, but piling them altogether was the issue.
Colin is on the money with regards to the etymology of bugs in software. Iirc, when computers were room sized, something had blown out and was causing the issue. When the engineers went to go see how something had blown, they found a literal bug fried on a piece of electronic. I think that is the lore.
3:54:09 Eh. I think it's pretty safe to assume what the general writing is going to be like based off of this trailer and even when you look at TLOU2. That game had gameplay, but for me and many others, it didn't outweigh that abysmal love triangle/revenge story full of cringe "bigot sandwiches" dialog. Seeing yet another 104lb girl boss with an "I don't need no help" attitude is enough for me to be completely uninterested. But ok, keep acting like this hasn't been a recurring pattern and that people are responding negatively based on next to no information. We have seen this before and we are going to do exactly what you have always preached; vote with your wallet.
I love the retro future art style an the weirdness of INTERGALACTIC, but I am so unbelievably tired of masculine tough girl main protagonists that I don't think I can play this.
90% of LSM's audience is fucking men. None of y'all represent the entirety of gaming. Don't play the game then, no one cares. You are acting like there are not people out there who will be completely happy to get something other than macho male protagonist #9307. Literally nobody else has been complaining but the second that it's not your default taste, it's a problem. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY GAMER TO MARKET TO.
Something to keep in mind with the hiccup question is how quickly things grow with exponential rates. If you assume a one second gap between the first and second hiccup, you'd have twelve hiccups in the first hour, seventeen hiccups in the first day, twenty-five hiccups in the first year, and by the thirty-second hiccup, it will have been over 34 years since the thirty-first one. There wouldn't be a thirty-third hiccup unless you live over 136 years past the first hiccup. That's over three million dollars per hiccup. I'd take the money.
4:29:02 I think it's important to note that Sony was doing really well on PC up and until they decided to mess around with the PS Overlay nonsense. The intense pushback they received over Steam users not wanting to log in to PSN, and the way Sony has been breaking Steam Deck compatibility with this overlay, is a large reason their sales and concurrents have fallen off. Edit: Forgot that Until Dawn, TLOUP1 and others released broken af and people got tired. Further, Colin has no idea what a Steam Deck or Steam console is, and that is obvious. The Steam Deck has a full desktop mode, and I can use that mode to modify my games, just the same as my desktop computer that I rarely use anymore. The Steam console will work the same way. I agree that the Steam console won't likely sell anywhere near the other consoles, so it's a bit of a moot argument.
I am interested in Intergalactic, but what they showed looked pretty generic even down to the protagonist. This is supposed to be inspired by Akira and Cowboy Bebop, but besides some surface level similarities like a red jacket and 90s tech, it doesn’t really seem to have anything that stands out unlike its inspirations. The protagonist is a symptom of this with a boring hair style and bland clothing. She looks about as uninspired as the Concord cast. Then throw in the brand placements on top of that and you get what feels like a boring sci-fi universe. Everything about it feels a little too sterile when Naughty Dog had complete freedom to give it more personality. This isn’t a decaying world like the last of us, give your sci-fi universe some flare!
Completely agree. To add to that, we’ve waited 4 years going on 5, to see something new from ND and all we get is a 4 min scene of space, character walking through ship, talking to a monitor, and then 2 seconds of “gameplay”. They’ve been developing this since 2020. They should have showed us more gameplay. The cutscene wasn’t interesting enough to sell me at this point. I’m more excited about Trent Reznor doing the OST than the game itself. I felt it was all in all intriguing but I need to see more before I’m losing my mind over it.
I just can’t believe all the shit this game reveal is getting. (I’m not picking on you guys at all, I’ve just seen a lot of hate and or apathy online) yes they said it started in 2020, but we all know ND was all hands on deck for that Last of Us multiplayer game, up until this year. They didn’t say “full production” either, which could mean it’s still very early. Also, it’s not uncommon to see CG trailers that are nothing more than mood setters. Witcher 4 was the same thing. I just thought everyone would be more than happy to see ND come out with a new IP. They’ve earned my trust and have never missed, for me personally. Everyone complains that Sony is too quiet, but when they finally give us a peek they’re met with more criticism. I don’t understand what Sony fans want.
@@drgonzo123 To be fair, I’m kind of over cinematic teaser trailers from any developer. I’ll give Witcher 4 a pass because CDPR have been very busy with Cyberpunk for the last 7 years? I think Witcher 4 JUST started development. As for ND, I just think they could have shown a little more gameplay. Give us a quick 45sec to minute sizzle reel of gameplay at the end. The scene they gave us just didn’t do enough. It didn’t meet the expectations and anticipation of years without a new game from them. I felt like they were hoping to just coast on name recognition without really giving the fans much to chew on. I’m intrigued by the game for sure, I just felt like they could have given us just a bit more and you’d probably be hearing a lot less complaining. If they started development 4 years ago, then they absolutely have more gameplay that they could have shown off..
@@DFTNSHEXGRM that’s completely fair, I didn’t mean to infer that you were wrong about your feelings in any way. I just think that “in development since 2020” line may be a little misleading, and this game is a ways out. That multiplayer game took up a lot of resources. This was basically a mood setter, and I wish we saw more as well, but I’m just happy to know what they’re actually doing next. I’m more happy that it’s a new IP and not another Last of Us game than anything else.
I'm hoping it was just the first trailer being small and not really showing that flare, but.... if they really had the flare why not show it in the first trailer? I get they were Akira Homaging, but you've got to show us what your unique new additions are too.

No "exceptions" were made, Phantom Liberty was also eligible last year but 2023 was a stronger year
Yeah Astro is incredible and absolutely deserves it
Astro was the right choice for me. I would’ve been happy to see Rebirth, Metaphor, or Balatro. As long as SotE, and Black Myth didn’t win lol
Chris is 16 or 17 hours into a game that everyone says is between 10 and 15 hours. Nice.

1:12:32 - There's a reason Sony acquired a ~15% influencing stake of FromSoft in '22. They WANT more exclusives and if the acquisition happens, it WILL result in more console exclusive games with maybe an eventual release to PC years later.

Naughty dog sucks
I have never seen a bong hit so pathetic in my entire life. Colin, WHAT WAS THAAAT?
