I higly recommend the book to anyone interested in the universe. Even if the game isn't as great as we hope the actual novel itself is very well written and fascinating. The universe in the book actually is more of a mix of Mass Effect, Game of Thrones and a spy thriller, with a little bit of Interstellar. The thing that surprised me most was how interesting the political "Great Game" was between countless hyper advanced socieites. The lore of how things got to where they are, awakended animals, livestone, Heaven's Gates, etc is all very interesting and awesome and will 100% be in the game. But the thing I hope they can capture the most is the intrigue behind a universe where every faction is spying on each other and there are secrets on top of secrets on top of secrets filled with breathtaking worlds and technologies. If they nail all that, then we have a universe that has more potential than even mass effect, my previous favorite.
@@FranklyGaming the book was pretty good. Very long, but I got it on Audible and played it at 1.75. the world building was very good, so it made me very interested in seeing this game set in the same universe.
The book is great. Reading it right now. Peter F Hamilton (the writer) is a household name for any literary sci fi junky. I can also really recommend other work from him (The Realiry Dysfunction, Pandora's Star). As someone who reads a lot of sci fi I have been wondering a long time why in many games and movies nowadays we get the same bland story lines with a different "skin" and nobody asks these writers to enrich their universes with some deep background storytelling. Just fantastic to see them actually do it. For anybody who gets hungry for more stories I can recommend (from other epic sci fi writers) Hyperion, Revelation Space, House of Suns, Shards of Earth, Children of Time, Red Rising, Empire of Silence. Where games and TV fail a lot lately there is an abundance of fantastic creative and imagitive sci fi story telling to be found in books. I can really recommend it. I usually combine audioboek with an e book so that also when I cannot read (e.g while driving) I can still progress the story.
People are complaining about facial animations? The facial animations were better than a lot of games released within the last couple of years. Like Starfield.
The smartest thing the devs did for this game was to hire a seasoned SF writer (and one of my favorites) Peter Hamilton , to create most of the lore of this universe. I am halfway through the book. It is s excellent and up to his usual standards compared to what he writes on his own. That's because he wrote it without any restrictions or interference from the devs, which is very different to how media tie-in books are written. I have always thought this is how SF games should be made. I think they have pretty much guaranteed a pre-sale purchase from me by doing this.

I have been devouring every video on youtube for this game. The way they are handling the lore and drip feeding it to us before the games release is genius marketing!
This future RPG has really caught my attention. I agree that it appears to have a heavy Mass Effect flavor (or at least hoping that's what it will provide) and the meshing with some Interstellar time dilation effects in the story line could provide a game experience worthy of multiple replays.
I'm not the biggest fan of the character designs, but I did like the Secret Level episode, combat looks fun and Drew is a great writer so I'm hoping this turns out great! And honestly? The trailer gave me Andromeda vibes, but if Drew Karpyshyn is at the helm for this, it just might have promise! In respects to animations, this looks leagues ahead of what they had with Mass Effect. My one major flaw with the Mass Effect games is they always had very stiff and uncanny animations in those games. The stop yourself thing isn’t the time dilation in Exodus. There’s no actual time travel. In the Secret Level episode for Exodus it actually did a really great job in showing what happens with the time dilation. Also I finished the book a week ago and it’s pretty fun book. It’s also really informative and it really sets up a very very climatic second book.
You forgot to mention Blur studios involvement. You know the Secrete Level people? Love, Death and Robots? And the company that made this amazing cinematic? They’re a huge part of the creative team. Watch the episode of Secret Level that’s based on the Exodus world. Brilliant
It's such a tragedy what Bioware has become. So many great RPG experiences have been ruined. I hope this studio succeeds. Need more story-driven, player-choice-focused RPGs with adult themes in my life.
2025 sounds good. Maybe they have already been taking their time. And they're one of the few crews that reveal something that is genuinely fleshed out. Used to be this way once. Revealing trailers only when we were actually close to release.
I think it looks GREAT for pre-alpha. I have no issue with the art style or animation. It's not quite as realistic as say BG3, but A) it IS pre-alpha and B) it's a sci-fi game which is a little more forgiving. Honestly, the game reminds me of nothing so much as the Andromeda we freaking DESERVED. Not that I hated Andromeda after they finally cleaned it up, but let's face it... it was a hot mess for almost a year after launch. It's still not "great" it's just fun. Exodus at least looks like it's honour my time, money, age and intelligence. The book is well worth a read, especially if you have an Audible membership. It's looooong, so it's great for commutes. Pre-warning it's VERY wordy... like Tolkien levels of wordiness, but once you get used to the cadence it's really interesting and by the end of the first half hour I was hooked. If you're not fond of long monologues and chronologies/genealogies, skip the first part. It's great to hear the genealogy but wow it's a slog when you have no context on who the names belong to. I think it's worth a background listen just to get the context for what the traveler power and lifestyle, and the politics of the world. It's really good 😀

Veilguard didn’t have a “woke” problem, it had a “made for YA or Disney adults” problem. This game looks like it was made for an adult. I’m in. I’m still in for Mass Effect, too, as long as it is made for actual adults and not YA or Disney Adults (who, let’s face it, are stuck in YA mentality). Respect the audience and your game will sell.
I was waiting for this one. I knew you'd feature this when I saw the gameplay trailer! As others have said, the Secret Level episode was really great too. And for anyone who's like WTF about the animals, go to the site and check out the little videos about the Awakened species. It's absolutely fascinating!
This is the tagline on the website: "Having fled a dying Earth, humanity has found a new home in a hostile galaxy. Here, we are the underdogs, fighting our final battle for survival. You are the Traveler, humanity’s last hope." So it's ME: Andromeda with Destiny naming. I hope this game blows me away. I refuse to get hyped though. Been let down too many times.
I think this game is going to surprise a lot of people and also at the same time shake up the industry as a whole. Bioware has competition now for what truly could be the successor of Mass Effect done right. If this game means we get a better Mass Effect 4, awesome. Competition is good.
I am so excited for this game! Every time they drop a new trailer or interview. I watch multiple times. I read every new piece of lore that comes out.i have the book, haven't started it yet, but plan to soon. Im nervous to be this hyped for a game since Starfield was such a letdown and i haven't been that excited for a new game since Starfield. But I'm loving everything I see for Exodus
Well I wasn’t particularly interested in the game. But hearing that there’s talking animal factions and weird time dilation I sure am now. Gonna have to peep some of that Lore
Bro first we get Baldur's Gate 3, which is basically a Modern Day Dragon Age. And now Exodus, a Modern Day Mass Effect. I'm so hyped for this. The lore videos are pretty good.
The Q&A on Cohh's channel with James and Chad has me both confused and more hyped than i was previously. In the Q&A prior to this one James said that it was not an RPG but an action adventure and not to expect exploration via a map or galaxy map but then in this Q&A he says it's an Action Adventure RPG made in the KoTOR/Mass Effect/Dragon Age model.
I stumbled across this game a few weeks ago and I am hyped. Bought the book mainly because I read Peter F. Hamilton's other books before and like the author. We'll see but there is a lot of potential and it would be so nice to get a decent SciFi game again.
I just looked up the book. And it's authored by Peter Hamilton. His dreaming void series is a stellar series, he is a solid author not a home run every time, but thanks for mentioning it. I will check this one out for sure. Can't wait for the game.
I remember pre-ordering and standing in line at Gamestop to get my copy of Skyrim, while my girlfriend was too embarrassed to even wait for me in the car, and left... My point is this. I haven't been THIS excited for a video game since 2011. Please don't be woke🙏
My hype for Mass Effect completely died with Veilguard. This has me hyped to play another Mass Effect like game though. The devs seem great, let's hope they can pull it off.
About 75% thru the book, and I'm really enjoying it. The lore is awesome if you're a space sci-fi fan. Peter F. Hamilton as the writer is icing on the cake.
Give in Matty you know you want to. Embrace the hype! I’m stoked I ordered the table top game. Maybe that’s me being naive, but I have a good feeling about this game and I never buy game merch.

Man this is one of those series where I buy every game and Exodus looks like it will be better than 2 and 3
Veilguard didn’t have a “woke” problem, it had a “made for YA or Disney adults” problem. This game looks like it was made for an adult. I’m in. I’m still in for Mass Effect, too, as long as it is made for actual adults and not YA or Disney Adults (who, let’s face it, are stuck in YA mentality). Respect the audience and your game will sell.
thanks for the reminder hope it is good
Archetype Entertainment should hire those old BioWare guys that lost their studios too, that would be awesome.
This sparks joy!
Watching that episode on secret level was something else
I cannot fucking WAIT for this game
Also The writer wrote KOTOR and Mass Effect 1 n 2 and Dragon Age Origin
The book is really good, do give it a go Matty
I was waiting for this one. I knew you'd feature this when I saw the gameplay trailer! As others have said, the Secret Level episode was really great too. And for anyone who's like WTF about the animals, go to the site and check out the little videos about the Awakened species. It's absolutely fascinating!
This is the tagline on the website: "Having fled a dying Earth, humanity has found a new home in a hostile galaxy. Here, we are the underdogs, fighting our final battle for survival. You are the Traveler, humanity’s last hope."
So it's ME: Andromeda with Destiny naming.
Didn't you get the memo? Bioware can't do a good game anymore, they are focused on surgical scars these days.
I just wish it didn't take ages for anticipated games to come out.
Had me at Drew Kapyshyn, bud.
"The Mass Effect 4 we never got"
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS THIS
I am so excited for this game!
Wow, this sounds like a… good game. I don’t know how to feel about this.
I can't wait to abandon my companions on a planet and check up on them in a few in game years. 😂
Well I wasn’t particularly interested in the game. But hearing that there’s talking animal factions and weird time dilation I sure am now. Gonna have to peep some of that Lore
Looks like if Remedy made a Mass Effect game.
Found out about this game from Secret Level on Amazon
Bro first we get Baldur's Gate 3, which is basically a Modern Day Dragon Age. And now Exodus, a Modern Day Mass Effect.
I'm so hyped for this. The lore videos are pretty good.
I really want to be excited about this….i think I am hesitantly excited.
I won't preorder, but I'm planning my next hardware upgrade around this game. 🔥🚀👽👾
Really excited for this one
Very excited, the original gang from BioWare created some real art. Hopefully, they can do so again!
This is not the next Mass Effect! Let's not curse it before its released!
Hopefully there will be intergalactic diplomacy involved again
I stumbled across this game a few weeks ago and I am hyped. Bought the book mainly because I read Peter F. Hamilton's other books before and like the author. We'll see but there is a lot of potential and it would be so nice to get a decent SciFi game again.
this game is most definitely on my radar. Big fan of Mass Effect and KOTOR. Dammit who's making the KOTOR remake?
Why remake tho? KOTOR 3
You already have Starfield.
@UmmerFarooq-wx4yo please.. that was a gift for the world🤣
@@UmmerFarooq-wx4yodo you work for bethesda or something?glazing so hard
My hype for Mass Effect completely died with Veilguard.
This has me hyped to play another Mass Effect like game though. The devs seem great, let's hope they can pull it off.
Game looks damn great. Really looking forward to more info and gameplay.
I’m cautiously optimistic. Also, it helped that I saw ‘Interstellar’ for the first time last weekend :D
I like the look of the game lets see more gameplay 👍
Me watching this trailer when it dropped: "just like old times"
Theres also a really nice "Secret Level" Episode for Exodus and it Looks awesome.
What took you so long Matty??? Was looking for this when the trailer droppsed.
more Hyped for Exodus than mass effect 5 ( i am wearing my N7 hoodie while watching this vid)
My view on Mass Effect is as follows: No matter what happens to Mass Effect going forward, we will always have Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3
But this looks cool too, I'd view it as a spiritual successor.
looks good, looking forward to it, personally prefer the jetpack like andromeda than the grappling hook...
Don't sleep on Exodus
Super excited!
I will wait for the release date
can't wait!
I'm already about half way through the book, and it is pretty legit. The world building is top notch, and it's pretty interesting.
How can you see this game and not want to play it?
I am 100% interested in this game.
This game is what I've been waiting for
The book is really good. Definitely recommend reading it
