One important point when disposing of something in a river,/creek/brook/etc.: make sure you dispose of it DOWNSTREAM of your home, otherwise the running water will carry what you're "disposing" right back to where you live.

Something important to remember is that some products are labelled as "compostable/biodegradable" but they need extreme heat or processing to break them down, so make sure you're being v careful with any plastic alternative type things because they could still be harmful to wildlife 💖

OH MY VARIOUS GODS, FINALLY someone talks about this! Thank you sooo, so, so much, Olivia! 🙏
This is something literally no witchcraft book that I've read so far was talking about, same with witchy content creators I follow. I was always wondering how to dispose of spell ingredients, but even more: offerings! I always wondered if there is a respectful vs disrespectful way to do this, especially when it comes to offerings (for example food offerings that just get bad after a few days max) and when you live in the city and don't have the opportunity to give natural ingredients or offerings back to nature / have your own compost and stuff like that. Is it disrespectful to just throw it in the trash?
I really needed this video, so thanks again. (Okay, I needed to get this out first, now I'll watch it and see if any more questions pop up. 😄)

That must depend on the gods. Ganesha hates his offerings thrown in the trash. But yet again they're mostly candy and peanuts, so I can accumulate it in an airtight container and burry it in the summer. (I would not just leave it outside though, I neighbor dog can get poisoned. BURRY. Alcohol can be used to light offerings on fire and burn them, but I never tried that. The same way, wine offerings I always throw in the sink - but not the toilet, I've had divine complains last time I tried that.

I usually compost my leftover ingredients if it doesn’t include salt I throw those herbs in my compost pile which then fertilizes my garden. It’s a nice way to recycle them imo and the energy goes into the growing plants which I really like. I usually only do this with things like protection and money magic or non-baneful work though.

I’m fairly new in the Craft, but I felt like sharing my methods might be helpful to someone. Personally I’ve always utilized one of the elements to release a spell into the Universe. The reason I have always done this is because every practitioner I’ve talked to has released a working either by burying, burning, dropping the spell into a body of water, or tossing it into the wind. Just as many spells are activated/born from one of the sacred elements, so to can a spell be released by them. I really connect with the element of fire, which is why I do a lot of cauldron spells. If the spell was an attraction spell I will keep the left over ashes in a little charm bag that I carry with me. However if the spell was a baneful working, I’ll toss out the ashes using one of the elements like I previously explained.
    Hoped this helped! Blessed be!✨

I just wanted to add that more things can be harmful to water bodies than people think, it’s not just like trash or plastic. I did a study in uni about how caffeine/coffee affects organisms in rivers. The effects of all the coffee we dump down our drains are devastating on marine life. Just because something is “natural” doesn’t mean it’s safe for you to pour it into water. So check how the herbs and ingredients you use will affect marine life before you just decide “whatever its just water”.

Living in an urban area, small town but still not really out in the middle of nowhere, I literally throw away any spell ingredients exactly as you said. I thank them and into the trash they go. I think anyone who may be alarmed or upset by this way of thinking may not necessarily consider that, especially living on a rental property, that you can't exactly go digging holes wherever you want or if not many people know about your practice, throwing things away is the most secretive.

Honestly, I came for validation haha. I have often worked with things I wasn't comfortable burying in a public space or releasing into a body of water, and I was left with only the option to simply throw it away.
Everywhere I looked told me to 'release it back into nature' but, like you mentioned, synthetic wax was not something I felt would be appropriate to do so, ESPECIALLY because I'm a guest in another country, and I felt it was disrespectful. Not to mention I live in a city with not many parks or natural areas, so really, most spaces are public or communal.

Best is burning with a oil potion feeded with intention/spell/ritual as applicable for of dismantling them. If the spell is by self the ingredients will dismantle to neutral meta properties.
For spells by others the casting person is required !! We have to know who casted it !!
Now when I say know means full of knowledge about conditions of life of that being. Including his/her strengths, weaknesses and cons.

Are there types of spell casting that wouldn’t require ingredients? For example, maybe writing? And how would one go about it?

for other witches who work with spirit guides (or just anything similar) - how do you dispose their offerings & how do you know when to do so? this is something I can't really figure out and it's why I tend to offer mostly stuff like beads & shells and little knick knacks that my spirit guides like. they're not like mad at me for not giving them stuff like apples or acorns or anything, but i just feel bad cause i want to be able to offer more, i'm just not sure of when & how to dispose of them afterwards

If I offer spirits food or something to drink, I like to offer them something from my plate or cup and if they are okay with it, we just share the offering. Most of the time, they are okay with it, because they know, I hate wasting food. 😂 I keep cones and other earth's treasures for them around, but I only keep a few of them. And sometimes I charge the items with energy I want to give them. With some spirits, I don't offer physical items, but instead I do stuff for them or dedicate activities to them. It can be simple things like saving energy by turning off the light. 😂

hey this is offtopic but could u help me ? answer this question?
alright so my “friend” , told me lilith was upset with me & she was trying to hurt me (for no reason) .. he told me to do a ritual with him & my other friend.. (long distance) . He told me lay on my back with a necklace of lilith sigil pendant , & my friend being the bait , after all that my ribcage started to hurt or feel weird .. he told me it was a exorcism but I don’t really trust him or know .. what does this do? bind you?

I would strongly recommend looking into cleansing and unbinding rituals just to be safe. you're not in grave danger but you were definitely coerced which isn't okay. always be wary of mystics and witches who proclaim that ONLY THEY can save you from possession or the wrath of a god or some other arbitrary "evil" you've randomly been hit with.

Hi Olivia. I love your videos. I have a dilemma. I work at a storage site and when units go delinquent they are sold at auction. If they don't sell I am responsible for cleaning them out. Occasionally I find spell jars and bags. What is the proper way for me to take care of these? Treat them like they are mine and dismantle and dispose the way I would my own?

I'm sure most things could be cleansed and reused. Personally if it's something particularly nasty that it's absorbing then I'd toss it. I reuse my protection spell candle wax for other protection spells. So it carries the same intent, but I get more use out of my candle magic

A question: do you ever reuse spell components? I also live in CO and acorns can be hard to come by here. And you can’t exactly buy a bag of rusty nails at the hardware store! 😅 do you ever reuse things like this (cleansing them of course) of do you see them as expended afterwards?
