What to do with the remains? For something you want to keep close, such as protection, I keep the remains and use them in a charm bag, or a jar, or I bury the degradable(i.e. not the wax unless it's pure beeswax) in my front yard or in a potted plant in or near my home. Hope this helps!

my grandmother would put protection remains in dirt and mix it into the dirt of snake plants and other protective plants. Sometimes she would add a crystal right above the remains for a full moon cycle to enhance the spell.
How do you do a Cleansing?
since i work with small amounts i make tiny paper packets write what kind of work i used it for and tape it in my grimoire

Great spell! It might be helpful to dilute the essential oils before dressing the candle. I use coconut or almond oil(I just pour several drops in my hand)and then add just a drop of whatever essential oil I am using. This is a much safer way to use essential oils, plus your essential oils will last longer!
Jaboyal oil is excellent as well

I wont allow candles or incense in my kids room, either. We have a family altar in the kitchen where i am most of the time. So, don't feel bad its just a safety thing embedded in parents. Good luck, 🍀
Years ago a local witchy store used a metal nail like from your household tool kit to write on candles. It's brilliant & I've always had an easy, handy tool to use.
Also, personal preference because especially cinnamon oil is so potent, I would definitely use a carrier oil or just drop it onto the candle if using straight essential oil. Cinnamon oil does not wash off the skin easily & it's very fiery as mentioned in the video.
That's just the way I was taught this spell, was direct anointing. I very much like the idea of a carrier oil!

"Sweep later....!" :-) My only problem with this spell is that I know myself well enough to be 95% sure I'd knock the candle over well before ever getting to the "light the flame" part.

You can also dilute your essential oils so they’re safer to use. I have a rollerball woth a spell in it. About half the ingredients I used were essential oils, and then I diluted it before funneling the mixture into the rollerball. It’s specifically to help me study and have success in school, so I use it to anoint myself before I begin a task and to anoint candles when I need a little extra help
Love the idea of driving the cloves into the candles. Reminds me of making orange pomanders with my mom at Christmastime. Gives me a warm, safe feeling. I would definitely use that in a protection candle. TFS.
Love this simple yet effective herb + candle magick. 🖤 I have also found mirrors to be quite effective in spellwork, especially in reflecting back magick with ill intent. Honestly, I think in magick that doing whatever resonates with YOU is the most effective.
So I guess I'm what you'd call a baby witch. I've been researching for quite a while now and I've just Started gathering items, tools, crystals etc. I've done lots of studying and research but there is one thing I am confused on, there was a video I seen once where a fellow which stated to "not forget to close off your corners when casting a circle" . I researched all over the Internet and could not find anything on "closing corners" can you enlighten me ? Or could she have possibly meant to call the quarters ?
So the quarters are probably referring to the four cardinal directions or the four elements. I'll list the direction and the element they are associated with.
North - Earth
South - Fire
East - Air
West - Water
Some practitioners choose to open and close their circle using these 4 but I dont so I couldnt tell you much about how. I just know that it is done. Hope this helps!
This is something that depends on the practitioner. Mainly Wiccans practice the act of opening and closing the circle and calling the corners. I don't cast circles, or call the corners, but Harmony Nice has a video on that I believe!

Kassie Marie ...this is a path/journey that you may want to walk for many years. You heard one person mention one sentence and have gone on to find as much info as you can to ensure you’ve got the process correct. What I’d strongly suggest is that you follow your gut, trust your instinct and read some of Scott Cunningham’s books, or Lucy Cavendish. It’s just as much about intention as anything else and what works for one person will not work for the next. What I’m saying is, there’s no one correct way to walk this path so don’t get too wound up in the rights and wrongs - just concentrate more on intention and intuition. Blessings to you.

Olivia, just a heads up, they're very strong essential oils. Usually as a rule of thumb it's only Tea Tree and Lavendar that are OK to use directly on the skin.
I'd definitely recommend putting the drops of essential oil in a carrier like olive oil, mix it up, witchy style in a witchy vessel and then apply to the candle.
I've done a course in Aromatherapy you see.

I've done one like this for years. I don't write the spells on the candle itself I write it on parchment and place it under the candle and use a much smaller candle as I've been taught as a 3rd gen witch. Its Very similar.

I have a few antique crystal glasses, Bowls, creamer/sugar etc... fill it with sand. You can choose a larger vessel and note the size "mote" youve created. Also, container within container using water.

I come back to this and have used this with black salt and Patchouli Oil. Scribe your intention into the flesh of your candle over and over and over in a clockwise manner from the tip to the base to “draw in” protection. Remember cleanse, cleanse, cleanse all your tools and space. Having this black candle on your altar IF it’s just for you, this matters so to ward off energies that are maligned and want to cause harm, they will stay away with a sigil or have an eye drawn on the candle.

I do something like this often on my altar just having one to keep lit when the Altar is “open” and I use the flame for my black candle to light all the other candles. I really do learn more from your videos than I do from any other RUclips content producer. Thank you. I’m glad you said something about not letting the flame get too low because the herbs are flammable, this is so true. I’ve actually had a plate of herbs catch fire, this is the reason I don’t use altar cloths.

Great spell. I personally find roses very protective as well (the thorns!) and I never had an issue with blowing out a candle versus snuffing it out (it all depends on the witch honestly). Mirrors in reflection/return to sender spells are amazing. I always tell people to use discernment when using omen reading with candle wax, the way the candles burn and the smoke because a lot of outside factors can influence that like AC and fans and even the wind. It also depends on the quality of your candle too. Not saying you can't or shouldn't just trying to bring awareness to that. I'm just giving my thoughts based on my experiences, nothing against you or this video lol

I am the same way with my spells dont put in my book of shadows unless i know feel strongly they have worked.
Tip for those that don't have a lot of time, and don't feel they need a larger candle to really work the magic (energies): Birthday candles can work fine. And they're less likely to make people ask unwanted questions.

haven't seen another witch clap their hands ever besides you, i thought i was like maybe a few out of many, but glad some else is doing this and showing the learning process of how intentions work and the energy that goes into the work of the workings and that makes me wonder if you were taught by family or you just have a natural gift for magic or just the fact you've studied for a really long time like i. But right now the way the moon is i like to do banishing and doing shieldings during this time cause we only have a few days until the light of the new moon will actually be seen, which is the first quarter and on i believe the 23rd. I've just tried this spell but with quite a few differences : no angelica root, burdock root, eucalyptus leaf or oils, used whole star anise for protection (the seeds are shielded by a shell which i think is fitting) and added black and violet salt for warding negativity and mental/spiritual protection.
I'm not sure how much these alters will change the result of the spell but it should be fine I think? Stay safe everyone
