    Your Florida Beauty is definitely beautiful 😍. I am wondering if the moss pole stand completely covers the drainage hole in the pot. If it does would that put the plant at risk for root rot? I also wonder what exactly Plant-tuber's pets really think of their people always sitting around and talking to themselves. Olive left the room like " Uff! She is at it again" 🤣🤣🤣

    • @drehgonsleher893

      The moss poles she uses are from trofolia and have holes around the base. I'm not positive if it would allow water to pass through or not, curious to know this as well.

      HAHAH I know, that is exactly what I thought when I saw her get up and walk away 😂 too funny. And regarding the moss pole, I think the water is able to get past, it was still draining. I will keep an eye on it though 👀

    I don’t have any moss poles. I use coco coir or bamboo and my plants attach to them without water. The aerial roots don’t get crazy big/long but they do attach to the dry coco coir fiber and bamboo stakes. I attach the growing plants with simple plant velcro. Also, love the close up of Olive exiting. That was adorable!!

    Hard to keep a moss pole wet in Tucson. I use saguaro ribs for stakes!!! The plants are not having any troubles at all. And thanks for the nice, peaceful diversion while I wait for the news. My son and his wife are at the hospital right now delivering my first granddaughter. Very excited. I generally use larger containers than you. They don't dry out as quickly and they provide sufficient nutrient and space. I used to use moss poles, but I see no decline at all using the saguaro ribs (tapered sticks).

    Ive just started exploring planks for some of my smaller plants that climb. The dollar store wooden garden markers are great for it. SO fare still waiting to see progress. I figure if the grow and thrive on trees in the wild they can climb a plank. 🤷‍♀️
    I just chopped up my SS, and tossed them in a moss prop box and they are starting to develop roots already, and my trial chop was dying in water but thrived in moss.
    I think they just may like the prop boxes better the water rots them so fast.

    Regarding stakes instead of moss poles, Shaun from Hakuna Maplanta (a big fan of you!) hates moss poles and only uses stakes and hair clips. His vining plants mature nicely. Like his skeleton key and brandtianum in recent videos, which he had to cut the tops off. I would ask him. (He mostly uses pon and leca, though.)

    So I've mentioned a couple of times in comments that I'm on the same journey with moss poles, and at the same time as I made a bunch I got a large aquarium tank, and my "half sized" moss poled plants fit inside the tank. I'm finding with the humidifier running I don't even need to hardly ever wet my poles, or water my plants either for that matter. It may end up being too humid but we'll see. It seems to sit between 75-99% humidity and with heat mats in there they sit between 26-32 degrees C. My aerial roots are growing into the poles already and it's really rewarding seeing that happen so quickly.

    my thoughts on the moss poles: plants can still root into the wood if you use a wood plank, a dowel, w/e. i don't think plants can really grow up mossy trees in nature, so they (moss poles) might be gimmicky? it might be worth doing an experiment!

    I have been making all sorts of things for my plants to climb on lately. I make my own moss poles with pvc pipe and drill holes so I can put water down the pipe to moisten the moss and then I make trellises from bamboo poles from Amazon. I rubber band 3 ends together that goes in the pot, then I cut pieces at different lengths and weave in and attach with plant wire. I put a Hoya Australis that has gone climbing wild on one today and it looks so happy. I have a Pubicalyx on a moss pole I made and it’s roots are going all through the moss and going grow crazy. I love creating poles and trellis for my babies. Your plants rooted so fast!! You are doing so awesome!!!

  • @anoekremminga6228
    @anoekremminga6228 2 года назад

    A friend of mine has a monstera growing on a big stake by using ‘plant friendly’ cords to train it up to it. It’s getting BIG, like with the inner fenestrations and everything. So I feel like sometimes the support is just enough. Same with my own syngonium. The leaves are really getting bigger and i just use a trellis.
    I do like to try to grow a plant up to a plank so it can really use its aerial roots to grow big. Like Caitlyn from plant life in the tropics does. Moss poles are also great for that ofcourse, but I don’t think it works for me.
