      I have had a rollercoaster of thoughts on this car (my son really wanted a Bandit). I really did not want to like it because the design is outdated and Traxxas has some really DIRTY business practices..... but man it is hard to fault it. It has been so reliable for me. It just does what it supposed to and does it well. It is well through out and the thing absolutely RIPS for being 100% stock related to the power system. I hate to admit it sometimes.... but I like the car a lot and it keeps growing on me. Thanks for watching and the comment!

      @@BriansRCStuff I totally hear you on the Traxxas stuff. I have scratched my head a few times over the years having being a huge fan. But like you I just have to give it to them on the Bandit, it's a gem. I ran a brushed version with a fresh set of Anacondas on a carpet track and actually kept up with all the modified Losi, Associated and Kyosho buggies really well. I was in love with how nimble it was. Ant this was before TSM.!!

      @@AMAZINGRC That is awesome! I bet the Losi, Associated, and Kyosho guys were shocked!
      Recently there have been several people that have been doing a challenge where they race their Bandit against more track ready buggies and many folks have done really well with them. Kind of crazy it can hang with them pretty well!

    Hey Brian great test runs of those 3 different lipos, i only just seen your comment now on my ak917 speed run video when i used the dual 3S Ovonic lipos a couple weeks ago, you comment was in the Held for review tab section by youtube in my youtube studio cause of your links to this and other videos you linked me to. Cheers 🍻

      Thanks for the comment. I think you can probably pick up around 5 mph with a better LIPO if you are looking for some extra speed.

    That’s not LVC
    It’s over amp draw / protection mode.
    One of the leads on the lipo that went into protect mode may have a bad solder check it I would 🤘😎

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  Год назад

      It is LVC. 😎 Slow red blink = low voltage. Fast red blink = thermal protection. traxxas.com/sites/default/files/3355X-VXL-3s-INST-120813-EN-FR.pdf
      In some of my previous videos, I ran a voltage checker with an alarm set at various voltages and that Ovonic 2,200 LIPO was dipping down to 3.4v per cell very quickly and hitting LVC. It is crazy how quickly all 3 Ovonics I ran dip! Even the Ovonic 5,200 mAh would dip down to 3.6v per cell after a couple of passes and that was with shorter gearing. The 2,200 dips much faster and in this video it hit it after just a half of a pass! ruclips.net/video/sbFYcxVGHkA/видео.html=315 at 3:35 in or ruclips.net/video/FXruHYPh4P0/видео.html Also, the ESC is rated for 200 amps continuous and the motor only draws a peak of 100 amps. My speed runs only involve like 5 seconds of full throttle running at a time - the ESC should be as happy as can be (it hasn't got hot during any of my runs.... granted it has been in the 30s and 40s F outside).
      While all 3 of those Ovonic LIPOs tested are really poor performing in this application, they are in good shape with no issues. 👍

  • @IowaBudgetRCBashers
    @IowaBudgetRCBashers Год назад

    Really surprises me about the ovonics.. RC guy garage runs ovonics in his 3&4s Bashers .. I will say I’ve got one ovonic 3s I run in my crawler and tge 5000 mah 2s has just as much power and run time

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  Год назад +1

      All 3 of my Ovonic batteries exceed their capacity claims but all 3 have terrible voltage sag! I have tons of data in my video where I tested 9’different LIPOs. If you run them in a RC that doesn’t draw many amps they are fine.👍. That being said, the run time in the ones I have tested are horrible under high load as you can only access a small amount of the total capacity.
      SMC and certain Liperior are the best ones I have tested. Check out this short video on how bad many LIPOs voltage sag at high load. ruclips.net/video/Y7YVyK5vjCI/видео.html

      @@BriansRCStuff the 5000 mah 100c 2s Zee batteries that I’ve got are my absolute favorite batteries to run. In the crawlers they last forever, like hour to hour and a half and in stuff like the USA-1 running them in parallel to get 4s they still give a 20-30 minute run time.
      The ovonic 2200 mah 3s gets about 45 minutes to an hour on the crawler, and if I run it in the USA-1 or the mad van or something with some power I get 10-15 minutes max.. I always hear great things about ovonic, but I’ll take a Zee or turnigy over those anyday. Tge turnigy nimh I run in my Tamiya stuff is 3800 mah and the zee is tge same. I get tired of running them usually before they go dead , so that says something.. again another awesome video brother, can’t wait to see this thing run with the spoiler on front. Also was gonna say maybe a taller tire would give you a bit more speed too

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  Год назад

      @@IowaBudgetRCBashers Thanks man!
      Yeah, I hear you about the long run times can almost be too long! The 4 or 5 seconds at full throttle in that Ovonic 3s left me wanting for a big more though. 🤣
      I would be curious how your different LIPO's would do in a high draw RC car.... sounds like you have a pretty nice assortment!
      Thanks, I am glad you are interested.... I feel like this subject should have been visited to death by now with the Bandit but it really hasn't so I am really curious to see what I can get out of it! I have never had a really fast car and I know to some 80 mph isn't that fast but man..... for me it gets my heart pumping. Funny as now 65 mph really doesn't seem fast!
      Oh, and yes I need some better tires (maybe taller). I want a set of GRP's 1/8 scale tires as they will not fly apart like mine could going 80 plus mph. They are like 100 mm tall so a big taller than my tires but do not balloon... so I am not sure which ones would be taller at speed. All I know is they would make the car way more stable at high speed!

    Man that's insane for 2s. I don't think I've ever seen anything go that fast on 2s. That's insane man nice job. You're going to accidentally have a 100 MPH bandit the way you're going.

      Thanks!
      I wish! I need some better tires to go much faster but I think the stock power system will top out at around 85 and maybe… just maybe 90mph but idk if that is possible. It has been a fun journey getting there and I still have more to do to find out! 😎

      @@BriansRCStuff I was just thinking about it and after your bandit, the next fastest things I've ever seen on 2s is a wltoys 144010, and maybe a race drone hahahaha, but neither broke 60 MPH.

      @@Rek_Rc Sweet!
      It just hit me the other day I should run it at 2s and and see what it can do so I made the video. I bet with even taller gearing and the right LIPO, I might be able to crack 70 mph which would be nuts for running the stock power system!

      It is really outdated and I am not a big Traxxas fan (the way the company operates against their competition) but the thing is a solid design for what it is no doubt!
      Have you seen the videos where people are using Traxxas bandit against dedicated race buggies and doing well?! It’s quite funny.
