  • @TheChanceAllen79

    Ordered these for the H14BM. Installed them and they blew out my wheel hubs… complete split the hex walls on my rims, and destroyed a complete set of new stock wheels … I put calipers on them and they were .01” oversized, not a lot but obviously enough to blow out the walls of the plastic. I’ve ordered a replacement set that does have thicker plastic and even ordered a set of nice metal ones. I’m going to take a tiny bit of material off of the extenders before next install tho… A $10 “upgrade” has turned into about $100 fix.

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff 5 дней назад

      @@TheChanceAllen79 that sucks! I blew out one of mine when I hit a curb… But I figured it was mainly because I had to drill out the wheel a little bit to fit the nut. I did not have any of these fail just with normal driving. They are definitely not meant for jumping and hard bashing. What were you doing when it broke all 4 wheels at once? Just tightening them down? That is crazy! These are cheap Chinese parts and I’m honestly surprised they’re not off by a small amount… But I’ve not had any other problems with these and run a version of them up to 108 miles an hour in my Bandit no problems . 🤷 What did you spend $100 on?

    • @TheChanceAllen79
      @TheChanceAllen79 5 дней назад

      @ yes literally all I did was finger tightening them down. I never even had time to ride it. I had it sitting on the side installing one side at a time keeping the pin in place. I did the first two, flipped it over did the other two, picked it up and one tire fell right off, the hub damn near crumbled. Then two more did the same. I inspected the fourth and it was split and ready to do the same. Ugh pretty pissed 😂 But oh well lesson learned I guess… I still look forward to the offset and the new tire I have ordered showing up Wednesday gives me a tad bit more width also and the metal ones coming in a month are freaking tough (not the cheap thin walled ones off amazon from china) So all and all it’ll wind up being even better 😂

    • @TheChanceAllen79
      @TheChanceAllen79 5 дней назад

      @ it was close to $40 for a set of beefier plastic wheels and tires to replace them, then it was almost $60 for the metal set I have coming.

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff 5 дней назад

      @@TheChanceAllen79 That really sucks, I am sorry to hear that happened! I wonder if your set was just off or what. I haven't run into this but I would be really disappointed if I did for sure! The rims were perfectly fine before they cracked like that? I assure you once you get the offset in there, it will help with the handling but man.... that blows. Keep in mind some wheels have different offset than others and that can eat into the offset of the hex adaptors depending on the wheel (some of them the wheel nut attaches in the middle of the wheel and others closer to the outside edge.

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff 5 дней назад

      @@TheChanceAllen79 Man! I just got a set of Arrma Hoons for my Jetwood truck and used some 3d printed adaptors to go from 12mm to 14mm. The issue with the Hoons is the wheel nuts mounts at the outer edge and the stock Jetwood wheels are closer to the center so the 15mm hexes do not offer as much offset as i would like when running the Hoons. I have a set of 25mm adaptors coming to try for this setup but it should be solid at the 70+ mph speeds I am running with it now! Amazon had some 85mm Hoons for likr $15 a set of 2.

    Good to see it running again. I know exactly what you mean about the durability though, I have a FTX Zorro which shares some of the same components, but mine has a centre diff (its a short course truck). Anyway, yes it's literally my weakest car and to be honest I struggled initially trying to decide what to do with it. I couldnt bash or jump with it as it would bend driveshafts or break arms and hubs. And then mine is not good for speed runs, as at high RPM the angled centre driveshafts tend to chew up the bearings and the plastic diff covers get torn apart. Plus the short course body style parachutes and causes flip over after 65mph. I'm just about to release the video on it actually, I end up just hooning/power sliding it around, as it drives pretty good!

      Man, that blows! It seems crazy to me they release crap like this and don't take the time to fix drivetrain.... it would be an easy redesign I would think! I trimmed the back of the body for mine and maybe that is why it is so stable? I am not sure but it is right up there with the most stable RC I have driven at 75 mph with no real modifications! I look forward to the video!

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff 7 дней назад

      SMC makes the best LIPO at a medium price range. Shipped, you can get this 3s 6,500mAh 150C for under $60 with the connector of your choice. I have used this lipo to go over 100 mph on 3s in my Bandit. LiperiAir and CNHL have also been really solid at a somewhat lower price point!! Turnigy (Panther and others product lines) and Gens Ace also has some outstanding stuff and my contact from Liperior now works for Turnigy and I am sure their LIPOs will only improve. I honestly don't know what is the best LIPO at any price. SMC is probably pretty close to the best you can get but I don't have the money to be spend crazy money. Keep in mind that within a brand they will have varying performance depending on the specific model and in general, the larger the capacity the higher performance everything else being equal.

    If the charge function is the same as balance why do they have both? Most videos on here are so divided on whether it should be balanced or just charge. Another tuber said don't even change the amps as the charger will give it what it needs to get to the intended 4.2...? So confusing!

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff 7 дней назад

      They are not the same. The normal charge mode provides a standard balance charge. The balance mode is designed to help batteries that have a wide gap between various cells equalize and it has been useful for me a few times. I don't understand what the the guy saying don't change the amps was talking about. You set the amps to what you want the charge rate at and it will charge at that rate. It is very important to get this right as if you charge a 1,000 mAh LIPO at 10 amps.... it probably is not going to end well lol.

    Thanks for the laugh, Brian. Morning started off pretty heated. I think with cars it wouldn't help much with a tailwind in terms of speed gains. A slightly decline would probably be almost negligible but depending on the steepness you would start seeing a difference. Maybe on a day with no wind, try both ways a few times alternating and see if there is a meaningful difference.

About 3/4 of the way through my run I hit the throttle all the way and it completely cuts power and I can let off and get back on it a little bit and it runs fine. • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff 9 дней назад

      Sorry man, I have a hard time keeping track of everyone's setup I talk to. 😔 What LIPO, gearing, and rear tires are you running? 77 mph is great though! Very nice! I think you are dead on. Assuming it is a low performance LIPO, all you can really do is only do 1 or 2 runs on it (assuming even that doesn't cause it to hit LVC) and be done for the day or shut off the LVC (but that is REALLY hard on the ESC because you are probably getting bad ripple voltage). Assuming it is not a great LIPO, I would suggest getting one that can handle the amps you are drawing now. But with speedruns, especially as you continue to go faster, you will only be able to do a few runs before you should really move onto a fresh pack. This 30 sec clip or so in this video (timestamped) does a pretty nice job of summing up voltlalge sag. ruclips.net/video/AiEjx8_mHmg/видео.htmlsi=YymSSMSmkji3gGWl&t=720

      @ what capacity and brand are the batteries? Is this on the stock motor? If so, I would try dropping back to a 31T pinion. At least in my previous set up that was my fastest gearing. But you should be up well past 80 with a good battery. If you want some suggestions, I can give them to you.
