Actually the vampires lack of ability to move around forklifts is a subtle storytelling trick. You see, the vampire ancestor never finished his forklift certification and so all the vampires were cursed to become confused whenever humans use forklifts as cover. Trust me, it’s in the lore.

@@deadphilix1671 Shitty corporate management combined with shitty corporate culture invading the development process. The Developer's used to have significantly more leeway for their projects than they do today, where every marketing executive who thinks he or she understands what makes a good product because they did some entirely useless marketing (for product development) focused degree and their daddy knows somebody high enough up to get them employed at a high level immediately. They start shoving elements, usually based on some boardroom meeting checklists about what's popular in the industry or seems to be trending in the public mind (obviously taken from social media trends now), into the dev process in order to make a more "marketable product" no matter if they fit the project or even worsen the concept significantly by their inclusion. If you think about this alongside the fact that developer's are constantly forced to crunch because management arbitrarily shortens deadline's no matter what the estimated development time is given to them as, the fact that none of these upper management ever see consequences for their inability to do their job properly, and that the development studio's are usually gutted after a less successful release to ensure executive bonuses, it doesn't really seem preposterous that games would SIGNIFICANTLY decline in quality. There's no place for creativity and passion in an industry dominated by corporate culture and which is steadily being monopolized by mega publishers like Blizzard Activision or Bethesda as we speak. We saw this occur early on with EA (the studio killer themselves) and titles like Dead Space 3 that were ruined because the original design concept was cut apart and sewn back together with NTX, Coop mechanics (thank the success of Gears for that), and other out of place mechanics combined with a lack of development time and arbitrary changes to the story and mechanics of the game (like an unnecessary love triangle and the ending being cut short), and you have a game that effectively kill's a franchise. But are the upper management held responsible? Nope, the studio dissolves, most are fired or absorbed into other studios, and over time creativity is replaced with stock game development as management dictates that their other studio's make carbon copies of whatever seemed successful to those ever tumorous marketing executives. It's really the same in every industry. Film has been seeing this recently with, say, the Disney franchises just being a dumpster fire in most cases and simply stagnant and unappealing at best, so they shake up the infrastructure, but the people really responsible, like Kathleen Kennedy, aren't going anywhere. This is why extremely talented studio's like Raven are stuck churning out mediocre and bland products by their corporate overlord's. Because the latter are incompetent and can't see anything past the promise of immediate profits.

Extremely unlikely they still have the same talent from 10-years ago. Even 5-years is a long time in the industry. This game screams too many corporate interests trying to make a game to sell but never really having an identity or target audience.
That's the problem when people just follow studio names, companies and IPs. It's the people who make these games that matter. I wish game industry started highlighting the devs more in similar manner movies do for example. Big name directors sell movies. There are only a handful of game devs widely known by name. But I guess that would undermine the value companies and IPs got? Gotta keep making that money instead.

Which is extra weird since I distinctly recall when the name "Redfall" was trademarked by Bethesda and how people were freaking out since it wasn't too long after the tease for TES VI and people were speculating it was the name they gave to it (a bit weird in terms of naming convention but it was a really cool title regardless which would have some neat lore interpretation between fall of the Redguard or fall of the Empire etc), so much so that until very recently I still didn't know Redfall was the name given to another game. But all of that means that they already had the title set quite a few years ago, which means that they realistically should have been on the final stages of pre production at that time (the definitive title is rarely the first thing you find for a project unless it's something that already had an idea behind that needed to be greenlit; but seeing how the game turned out I really doubt it was the passion project of someone at the studio that they pitched to see it come through, or if it was, the people in question left a long time ago). There is something deeply wrong with this game, I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that there has been some massive drama behind the scenes, it really looks like the result of constant redraft that strained ressources thin and not a single vision coming through

Dishonored was one of the first video games I played on Steam and I fell in love with it for the mechanics, the art style, the story, the setting, the versatility and choice in how you could play, and the astounding devotion they put in notes, environment, NPC interactions, etc. to help flesh out a world that felt like the player was getting only a piece of a fleshed-out universe, like it was adapting directly from a ten-book series. When I think Arkane, I think “good writing” and “top-notch world-building”. It’s sad that this is what they’ve been reduced to slapping their name on.
Dishonored was insane. Such a unique world and playing it didn't feel like any other game. Can't believe how far Arkane has fallen. For me, the main issue is the price tag. If this was $20 I wouldn't bat an eye (pun intended)

I agree except "the absurd ease of headshots" since isn't that just down to the players skill? Or does this game have like massive head hitboxes or something?
The whole game actually feels like some sort of Netflix adaptation of a scooby doo episode, the scary “monsters”, the most corporate voice actor you’ve ever heard as the main character, the slideshow cutscenes with extremely out of place music and of course the bewilderingly unrealistic and easy shooting gameplay where one shot deals 80% health.
To be completely fair, the crap-ton of damage comes from those headshots the game practically forces you to do via aim-assist. Shooting someone in the head is gonna hurt. A lot. As for the vampires? That's fair. I'd rather have devastating headshots over what far cry 6 did where an unarmored enemy takes about 7 or 8 to a whole mag to put down.
I don't know if "unrealistic" is the word I'd use to describe one shot dealing 80% health damage. Realistically speaking, that's pretty accurate given the number of areas on the body that will likely result in death from a single gunshot wound.
tbh slideshow cutscenes only work when emotion is really shown, the best angles and expressions are chosen, the posing is well-made, and theres interesting dialogue
@@mrmanolomax7328 wtf happened to Arkane anyway? They went from making Dishonored, a game brimming with passion and creativity, to whatever the heck Redfall is.

Shitty corporate management combined with shitty corporate culture invading the development process.

There is something deeply wrong with this game, I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that there has been some massive drama behind the scenes, it really looks like the result of constant redraft that strained ressources thin and not a single vision coming through
@@sephikong8323 considering all that happened around the time 76 was being made I'm guessing it was the big brain IQs at Zenimax deciding every game was going to be live service because having 2 mobile apps and a whole MMO wasn't enough. The funny part is that it's almost exactly the same as Dishonored, Prey and Deathloop, even the vampires are almost 1:1 to Prey enemies.
We should all be deeply offended
This is amazing! The dedication, the attention to detail! The vampires can't navigate around cars as a subtle reference to the 1987 Japanese manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, in which a vampire is incapable of operating an automobile. They really did their research
indeed
"Um, actually, Dio was actually born in the 19th century during the Victorian era, back when automobiles weren't invented, and he spent decades being trapped inside a coffin before recovered off the coast of Africa by fishermen a century later. That's why he's unable to drive a car." 🤓
@@HankJWimbleton-v1m ...which is why the comment said hes incapable of using an automobile...
Yes
All of their games were awesome. Dishonored 1 and 2, Arx Fatalis (strongly recommend this one if you are into immersive sims), Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic, Prey... How they managed to make this is unimaginable.
Just remember that not all parties involved in a company don't exactly ALL do the same game. This feels more like a pet project done by a certain group in the company. Experimental cash grab.
I doubt the main people who brought dishonored to life had a big involvement in this
Maybe they fired all the good devs that's actually put effort and passion and use temporary ones for cheaper. And that's how tell tale dead
they can't see you because they're locked at 30fps
It's crazy to know that an older game like Fear had incredibly believable enemy ai that strategically fought against you
and in 2023 we have games like this where vampires cant jump over cars
I swear how did games that ran on standard disks with only kbs of data have more in-depth content than modern triple A Games with literally 100s of gb of data? It makes no sense to me how the gaming industry has gone so downhill
Same with Metro 2033, I kept thinking about how Nosalises would try to flank you and jump over obstacles and run along walls and such in that game every time I saw the poor movement in this game, because the AI was too shit to deal with uneven terrain.
The enemies on FEAR flanking your position was some next level tech and then we got this.....
there are shit nexbots on gmod that can figure out how to get around a box better than this 70$ game
@@UraniumReaperActual same with multiplayer games. In the old days so many maps, game modes and every single one of them had bots. Now the excuse is "its too hard to code" usually because of graphics. When indie studios have proven thats bullshit time and time again and the fact that if graphics are seriously hampering our games maybe we should stop for a while then and make it so we CAN do it.
My respect for Borderlands 2 grows stronger with every awful looter shooter to come out afterwards.

Realistically speaking, that's pretty accurate given the number of areas on the body that will likely result in death from a single gunshot wound.
netflix is brain poison, along with new video games. The woke agenda at university is destroying everything.

This was exactly where I stopped as well. Fun thing - if you DO the stealth route? Most times the sniper can one shot, other times they take like 3-4 headshots with the sniper, but onto the fun part: If you snipe someone, the person next to them talking to them? Continues talking to their dead body with no response as long as you do one-shot the person. :p So you can kill everyone around one person and it's just one guy talking to himself, and then calling for back-up and running around like he has cover fire.
