    Agree with you 100% about shortening down the crazy high oil change intervals. Heck, cheap insurance.

    Frank, Just changed the oil (364 miles) so glad I took your advice and didn't wait until 600 miles because the oil and the filter were filthy and totally in need of a refresh. I followed your tips to the "T" and all went perfectly. I really appreciate you being out there looking out for your viewers. Thanks again.

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  2 года назад +3

      Exactly! That is what I recommend 300 miles on the breakin oil change and every 3000 there after.

    An excellent explanation. Thank you so much for your attention to detail. I have recently purchased a 2018 250l with only 370km on it and am just setting it up for adventure riding (exploring) here in Australia. Have been riding for almost 50 years on the road but only a newbie to dirt bike riding. Your video really underlines my original view that the 250l is a great bike for me with simple maintenance and long service intervals. I appreciate your practical approach to replacing the crush washer on the sump plug and oil filter gasket. It just makes sense! Thank you for putting the time in to make this excellent video. Well done

      Yea and it don’t hurt to change them but really, I never have and I have never had a leak in all my years of riding bikes

    Great video with helpful reminders of the little things to remember and look for in a "simple" job like this. Always little things that could go wrong so appreciate the thoroughness of the video. Is there any other regular maintenance you are doing on your 300? Chain? Clutch/Brake lever lube? Etc. Would like to see that work too, as I plan on continuing my own maintenance as much as possible on my 300. Thanks.

    Agree 100% with everything in this video except for never replacing the crush washer. They crush down hard as rock and leak as well as become difficult to remove from the plug. Use it once or twice then replace it.

      Nothing wrong with replacing it, just saying that I have never replaced one and never had one to leak

    Thanks, as always, for the meticulous details of this job. Recently found an available, rare, CRF300L at Haden’s motor sports in Frankford, MO. Have 150 miles, preparing for first oil change. Eyeing your additional air filter change, I was also reminded to check the air filter on the 2017 CRF 250l that I bought last May, when unable to find a 300. The dealer I bought it from said they gave it an all points fluid check, but I found that to be untrue after I got home, with 1900 miles on it, and put a few hundred on it, and noticed the oil level was low, and dirty. I did not change the air filter with the oil change and filter, and have felt like the bike was being “starved” for something, whether fuel or fuel/air mix. But I didn’t consider the air filter, I will do that in the morning. I’m sure I will find it dirty.

    • @PeterVred

      Yep, it was dirty, but not air starving dirty. BTW, I bought an Idea Gear Indicator for the 250, it’s plug and play. To install I need to plug this “into the 4-pole Red male diagnostic connector , near the ECU box”. Do you know, approximately, where that is?

    Have you ever used the honda 10w40 weight oil? I used 10w30 first time in my honda cb919 and 10w40 in my 2nd time and I find it shifts better.
    In your owners manual ot should show the temperatures with the different weight oil, and I usually fall in the 10w40 category.

    • @JohnnyBoy919
      @JohnnyBoy919 Год назад

      @@riffafrank Let me know how that goes! I think honda says in the manual 10w30 but I think it's for EPA or better fuel economy.
      If you looked at owners manuals for older bikes they all showed a chart with temperature and different weight oils, now they don't really have it.
      The 10w30 and 10w40 both perform the same at lower temperatures, but the 10w40 has a higher temperature range.

    • @riffafrank
      @riffafrank Год назад

      @@JohnnyBoy919 Good to know. I will let you know. I'm not due for a oil change until next year maybe more though... I bought my oil for next oil change. I bought 10w40. and I am ready for next oil change but it's not for now , I did an oil change last fall and I should be good for a while with it. I will let you know in a few years... ;) Have a good day bro.

    • @JohnnyBoy919
      @JohnnyBoy919 Год назад

      @@riffafrank How long ago did you do your last oil change? What's the year and how many miles on your bike? I change my oil probably 2 times a year or every 6 months whatever comes first. I know the owners manual says like 8000 between oil changes but I would never do that. The longer the oil sits the worse it gets and it's not that much oil in there.
