    Engine oil is the life blood of your Honda CRF300L and changing it is the single-most important maintenance procedure you can perform to ensure your engine stays healthy for many rides to come. In this video, Charles shows the proper procedures on how to change the oil and filter on a Honda CRF300L. This process will be the same for Honda CRF300L Rally models.

    This is about the clearest and most thorough oil change procedure on a 300L I've seen anyplace. It also includes torque specs and a crush-washer. I'm surprised there are only 15 likes.

      Actually no it isn't at all. They didn't tell you to ride the bike first which is the most important part of an oil chsnge aside from getting oil put back.🤷 Didn't tell you to level the bike when you check the site glass window WHICH IS IMPERITIVE. Also didn't tell you to properly criss cross tighten the filter cover bolts. Major FAIL video.

      I’d change it once a year if using a full synthetic. Unless I’m bouncing off of the rev limiter and pushing the motor to its limits. Nothing wrong with changing your oil early though.

    I'm glad I checked your video. I've had many motorcycles, but this is the first with an internal oil filter. I would have had no idea where the oil filter was. I did spend maybe 20 minutes looking for directions in the Owner's Manual, but did not find any help. Thanks, Jim.

    Excellent presentation, thank you! Please note that 1.45 l of oil is not sufficient for European CRF 300 models as it doesn't even register on the sight glass. I did some digging and found that the recommended amount of oil for Euro models is 1.8 l. It might be no harm to pin a warning on your video.😊

    The left bolt on the topof my filter cover just spins spins spins. It leaks oil of that bolt and left side massively. Any suggestions? Or help. 2022 crf 300l rally abs

    Can you please restock the kit on your site? Looks like it's been out of stock for a bit.

      Unfortunately we need to wait until the oil filters are in stock before we can do that. It looks like we should be getting them on 8/5. Thanks for checking out the video!

    Are these torque specs based on dry threads or with lubrication?

    Do you check the oil level with the bike warm or cold?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  9 месяцев назад

      Honda recommends if the bike is cold, to let it idle for 3-5 minutes and then shut it off and wait a couple minutes. You can then put your bike on a level surface and check the oil level. We show that process at 4:10 in this video.

    • @kylek2102

    There was no way I could get torque values stated here. It would have broken filter cover bolts for sure and the drain plug got to a hard stop not even close to 18 ft lbs.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  11 месяцев назад +1

      That's odd, those are the correct torque values. But glad you didn't break any bolts or strip anything!

      @charlesludwig9173 10 месяцев назад

      @@rmatvmc I agree it is odd yet same result using 1/4 inch drive torque wrench as well as a 3/8 inch drive torque wrench. All I can say is some attempting to apply 7 ft lbs of torque to filter cover have had bolts break or twist. But like you I have seen the spec. My local Honda Store says they just snug em up.

    They didn't tell you to ride the bike first... which is the most important part of an oil change aside from getting oil put back.🤷 Just starting and idling it to temp aint good enough. If you don't spin up all the particals/contaminants into suspension then they're just resting atop parts and surfaces inside!🤷 When you drain it they're gonna stay there. Didn't tell you to balance/level the bike when you check the site glass window... WHICH IS IMPERITIVE. Also didn't tell you to properly criss cross tighten the filter cover bolts. Major FAIL video. 1:32
