how bags and backpacks are made
Sometimes we don’t appreciate the quality work off all that people that makes our daily use products possible. Perhaps they deserve more credit and compensation for they commitment and hard work to make products real.
Thank you for sharing!
My four year old daughter was utterly engrossed by this. Thank you for sharing.
Maybe she will become a backpack brand owner someday :)
Those peeps have some serious talent! I wish I had some of their tooling. I spend a ton of time with making templates, cutting everything out by hand and just keeping my machine behaving properly, let alone the sewing time. These people are so fast I feel like I'm going backwards lol.
My first job in the 80's was working for The North Face inspecting tents. I had to put up the tent with poles and inspect the inside and outside and cut loose threads. That was workout. Whenever I buy any clothing I know how to inspect the inside and out.
Hats off.
Since I started getting back into sewing I do the same. Everything gets turned inside out and checked out. I like checking out bags and packs, just to see their construction, helps me figure out how to make a panel or how something goes together maybe better then how I do it.
Tent construction is also on my list. What's your favorite design with a tent and why?
@@elconquistador932 my favourite tent designs are external pole sleeves, multi-pitch. I don't like modern tents where you put up the inner first and then throw the fly over. Because they suck when it's raining as your inner is wet before the fly goes on. You can see an example of what I am talking about on my website at www.bagme.com.au/projects
Hey want to get in touch with you . Let me know how we can connect
it really makes one appreciate how things are made therefore appreciate the item. lots of care has been taken with each seam, stitch and zipper
thanks for explaining the entire process and showing everything step by step.Learned a lot from this video
I appreciate *luxdups* attention to detail in every bag they make. Zippers, handles and stitching are carefully crafted to make their bags true works of art. And their prices are so surprising to me!
Thank you so much for a very informative video. Sewing is a daily part of my life for over 45 years! The sewing machine is music to my ears!
Are you still making bags now?
Incredible. Thank you for showing what is involved
I made a prototype of a bag I designed. It’s so exciting to see this come together in this way.
what did you use for for padding inside the lining to hold its shape
Can use closed cell foam very light good padding and cheap 4 mm per square meter cost 30 us cent
In India🇮🇳
I'd love to see the bag you made...

It's amazing to watch each step in making the backpack. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the video
Wow! This is amazing! So it really is handmade! So they work in steps and assembly line. I thought it would be one person making the entire bag at one time. So interesting!
Really glad you learned something from the video. Yes, the bags are hand made, with the help from a few machines. But without people, we can't make the bags
Estaré esperando más super proyectos como estos .me encantó.
Wowwwweeee!!! Incredible! You guys made that look easy but I could tell its very hard work. Perfect backpack! Well Done 🏆

Fantastic Video, so pleasing to watch
Love it! Nice work.
Very insightful and inspiring video
This has to be the coolest video on whole RUclips.
Awesome! Do you make bags yourself or was it just the editing and storyline you liked? We plan to make more content soon
@@BagMe. I make bags myself the one on my profile is my personal design named Rea backpack. I'm in Nigeria though
Hai
@@BagMe. I'm thinking about starting making bags myself therefore I like to see the process and details of a production. The editing and storyline is also great. Basically, I like to learn this stuff from videos.
That is amazing, very complicated components and processes but you owned them. Very attractive cutting with many layers and good cutting die

Cool movie Luke! Best educational video of how a bag is made!
Sincerely appreciate that you think that Immanuel. Hopefully there will more industry targeted videos to come soon...
I wish Industrial sewing machines were't so expensive for domestic use. I'm learning how to make bags, purses, wallets etc., but am definitely restricted by how much bulk my domestic machine can handle. Beautiful process, thanks for sharing!
Do you make bags yourself? I'd love to make content in the future and get some 'enthusiasts' over here to see the factories and do some work here :)
@@BagMe. Hi. Yes, I do make bags - or at least I try. But I'm still a beginner and only use a domestic sewing machine.
@@BagMe. I'm from Singapore and would love to visit your factory (as well as understand the minutiae in running the business) if I ever head to Vietnam!
Nice to see the workers take pride in their work!, unlike mass production line. Wonderfully made.
Very interesting video and great production. I think most people underestimate how much work goes into such items as bags, clothing etc. I am definitely one of them. Excellent
That's why I made the video in this way. I wanted to people to see the detail that goes into making a relatively simple bag...
@@BagMe.
I do this work, I have many people to work, tell me if you have any work

Fascinating. It looks lie a decent factory, and not a sweatshop.
Todo perfecto 👌 y a la exactitud la confección de mochilas 🎒👌😁
Vietnam does the quality job of making bags regardless of the brand… 🇻🇳👌
I wish I had all this kinds of sewing machine
i thought the same thing. i love sewing and got mine from Lidl. Maybe later on i might get a better one :)
@@emannuel128 Pandemia.A fábrica fechou as portas não tinha vendas e com funcionários doentes gerou muitos gastos para o Dono.Algumas tbm mudaram para outros estados e os funcionários que restaram ficaram impossibilitado de ir morar para o novo endereço tbm.😞

Do you make bags yourself?
@@BagMe. Hello lovely crafts from you . I do make bags myself though I don't post much on RUclips mostly on Facebook and Instagram hoping to start doing so now. I will also like to know what it will take and cost to get those metal pattern and the machine.i might not have enough to purchase now but I can safe for it . Any info please
Just 2 weeks ago, I started playing with the sawing machine since I want to make my own bag by my hand. I really love bags and want to do whole process by myself. This video gave me so many learn and insight in many ways. Now I'm dreaming someday my designed bag on your production line and share my product to more people. Thanks a lot with this video. It is great idea to share it not only your client but all. Great job bagme!!😃Cheers from Korea.

Congratulation Luke
Troi dat oi Em oi, I just realised this comment is from you :)
جميل جدا 🥰 شكرا لك 🥀🇩🇿🌸
Thank you so much for sharing this! May I ask you what is the white perforated fabric glued behind edges of pockets (3:23 in the video)?
Edouard, this material is a "non-woven" fabric. You can search this on duckduckgo to find out more. It is similar fabric to a low-cost shopping bag but a little thicker and we use it for stiffening part of a bag. We also use it for low-cost stitching reinforcement behind foam, or we can use it like you saw in the video to create a frame and give us an edge to fold fabric over and glue when we need a neat and stable fold...
@@BagMe. Thank you very much for your answer. I will definitely try it!
Wow, everything is just great! From high quality and high priced bags to very low salaries for Vietnamese workers! Just great😂😂😢😢
Como puedo conseguir los patrones de la mochila saludos y muchas bendiciones Quito Ecuador
Does anyone know the name of the accessory they use at minute 8:24 ! I need it! thank you
Wow amazing. I would like to work in your company
This is a lot of work. No wonder why these bag are expensive.
Actually, the Day Owl bags use very expensive and high-end recycled materials which makes them a bit more pricey. But the result is amazing...
Muito bom🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏👏👏👏
I have come from India, this work comes very well, if there is any work then tell me
This is an amazing video I'm curious though..... do you know what the machine is called that turned the shoulder strap and inserted the foam?
Thank you!!
This is just a simple hydraulic press that we set up in a vertical position above a stainless steel tube. Sometimes we need to make our own machines to help make the process more efficient and consistent.
@@BagMe. thank you!
Soopar👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
Can you make a video on the process how drawings become templates?
Hi jutgannex. Glad you asked this question. I am currently planning such a video..
Question, what is the duties for bags coming into the U.S from Vietnam, because from China it's 25%.
Hi AngryOldBastard, most bags and backpacks attract a 17.5% duty going into the USA.
Vengo a lavorare con voi.
Esperienza più di 30 anni 👍
Would be cool to see your work
@@BagMe.
Se avete bisogno di una persona per il lavoro sono disponibile io ho lavorato roba militare : tattical vest e zaini militare
awesome would you mind if to sharing template to make a pratice backpack for beginer like me :)
Hi LostGravid, are you asking to see a document that will give you an insight how to communicate your design to a sample maker? Or are you hoping to see some more RUclips content showing the process from drawing to sampling?
@@BagMe. sampling, that I can Print out bag template 😊
what is the name of that punching machine used for cutting the fabric . please share that product detail
Its a hydraulic machine normally used to cut paper and fabrics in large quantities
Hi Vishnu, depending on the company who make them they will called different names. But you can search for "fabric cutting press" or "hydraulic beam press" and you will find it...
Share you email id
That's really cool.
This is Exploitation and deception of the Western consumer. You buy products with a 900% + markup. Speculators have destroyed jobs in their country. To exploit cheap labor. This is great???
@@realberlin 900% markup? haha... Not in this industry... And do you think the workers in this video look unhappy? Every day I work with them we find some time for smiles and laughs. They are free to leave at any time and 20 of the original 30 workers are still there from 10 years ago. But I do understand that some industries and companies exploit workers, but not the ones you see in this video ;)
Found ya!!! ^^
How did you find me? :)
@@BagMe. hahah coz it's me with my research skill! Oh...I'm back to Finland btw, no longer staying in Vietnam! How are you doing? Still keep exercising by Chua Chan mountain? (:
Did we meet on Nui Chua Chan? :) Sorry that I did not find your response earlier... Send me a message through my website at www.bagme.com.au
@@BagMe. I followed you on LinkedIn!
What material is used for the lining please?
Hi Shrinidhi, the lining in the Day bags is a 70x100D made from post consumer and industrial (recycled) plastics...
Hello sir, may know the machinery name of sholder turning out side in, at 12.11
Take a 1.5 inch round stainless steel pipe and half inch one side close pipe you gadget in ready we made a proto type in India🇮🇳
We make these machines ourselves. We use a simple hydraulic press, and mount it vertically over a stainless steel tube.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤗
What foam in the stripes are you using?
Hi Hannes, the foam used in the bags in this video is an EVA made with Algae. Bloom Foam... But currently we are using a Foam with a base derived from Sugar Cane bio mass...
@@BagMe. thank you for your answer. could you tell me the exact name of the sugar cane foam. unfortunately can not find a suitable.
@@hannesmue5054 where are you based? Are you a manufacturer? The issue we have with the Sugar Cane Foam is the high Minimum Order Quantities and this foam gets made in Vietnam from raw material mostly imported from abroad.
اين يتواجد هذا المصنع.؟
What is the average time it takes to make one bag?
That's a bit of a trick question and depends on how you calculate it. 1 hour would be an average if you try to time every step, but in reality, no single bag is finished in an hour. A line of 26 workers can finish 200 bags a day once everything is ramped up and working efficiently...
