Terrific design and project. Kind of covers all the stuff I've wanted for years. Terrific water bottle pockets! (Who in the corporate day bag 'industry' thought it was a good idea to not have bottle pockets? For years I used either $20 day bags with pockets, or a $250 Sea To Summit, with bottle pockets -- but really crappy ones (Unless you're only going to carry two 500ml bottles. ) Add to this the $500 part I DIY repaired on my laptop because the bottle I had to put inside the bag leaked on my computer. While I probably won't be making this whole project... I carefully watched the section on the padded straps. This video is a resource far beyond this one bag. A huge contribution. Thank you.
Best video I have seen on MYOG so far. I was looking at making an ultra-lightweight 30L for short trips, and this is very close to what I was picturing...minus the magnets. Those are a nice extra to have.
This has a surprisingly rare straightforwardness and simplicity. I'd appreciate it if anyone could recommend instructional videos with a similar attitude.
Do you have an alternate link to your specs PDF? It looks like the website link is down but this pack build is really inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing! 🎉
Great job again on another awesome project. Sewing through the foam without the presser foot was a creative solution. Lol. Guess it’s time for a machine better suited to your projects!!
A very clean backpack.. consider me inspired to make some gear! Have you ever thought about making a chest pack? Something similar to the HELIKON-TEX chest pack? Would love to see your take on something like that?
THANK YOU! I’m working up the nerve to sew my final pack after many tweaks and decision paralysis haha, videos like this are immeasurably helpful for visual learners like myself!
I really love your channel it's so clean and well presented! I am planning to cut some side panel out of an ultra 100 zpack arc haul to reduce it from 60l to around 40, I only have a regular sewing machine though (I see you have a heavy duty machine) I'm wondering if that would work? Do you know the details of the actual thread you are using for stitching? I'm hoping to maybe just use a heavier gutterman thread and needle in my basic machine... Thanks again for your fantastic videos!
This was another great video and I'm going to incorporate some of these features into my first backpack. I downloaded the shoulder strap pattern. If you offer other patterns again, add an extra page that have it full size on a big sheet of paper, that way people can go to staples or something and get it printed full size, sometimes that's easier than piecing together multiple sheets.
I just bought my first Singer heavy duty thanks to you! Please keep it up also if i were to make a request can you make a UL Chest rig/pack pattern generator? There seems to be a lack of UL chest packs in the market right now.
This is a great pack (and video) and would love to make it myself. Is there any way you could post the pattern? I guess I could take a screenshot from the video but not as convenient as having a PDF pattern. Thank you!
FYI the ripstop by the roll podcast has an episode that mentions some special considerations that should be taken when sewing ultra (ie. stitch type, taping, etc.)
i still dont make my own gear, but every time i watch your videos i want to start. unfortunately my parisian flat won't let me have the space to buy a sewing machine... hope to be able soon to get one
There is no literal pattern to print but you don’t need one, all the measurements are in the video and it’s all just straight lines, easily transfered to fabric…
could you please show how to sew the binding to the bottom of the bag and please let me know where I can find how to make and attach a hip belt to a bag like this. Thank you.
Looks like you are using the gutterman thread for this video. I have the same machine as you and when I use it, I get the birds nest on the bottom. What are you machines settings at? I tried to get it from the video but the I cannot see what the tension is at. Thanks. Great video.
That sucks, I feel for you! When something like this happens I usually change needle, rethread at least the top thread completely and then experiment with the tension on scraps. For whats its worth on my machine the tension is often set quite high, like a 6 or 7, I don’t think its supposed to be that high but for whatever reason it seems to work for me. Good luck
Another thing that can prevent the bird's nest is holding/lightly tugging the loose threads every time you start stitching. It's one of those simple things that can make all the difference!
It’s a decent machine that is certainly capable of making some gear, best thing about it is its affordability. I can’t compare since I’ve ever only used the Singer HD but I would imagine it is not worth it to upgrade if you already have a machine of similar price.
Hi there! Thanks for your videos! You’re channel has been such an inspiration and the reason why I started making my own gear! I’m about to give it a try and make this pack. I’m wondering, would you recommend using 5.0 oz dyneema as the main material for the pack? I have some big piece of it left after my last project …..
Hello! Thank you for posting this, it's amazing! Quick question: based on the measurements in the document for the cuts, it looks like you only would need 1yard of fabric for the body. Is that accurate? Or did you get a little more? Just wondering how much I should order so I can make this.
Skitsnygga videos!
You made my stupid ass believe that it is way too easy to make this backpack 😂 The design is so perfect and pro! This is such a wonderful video! Thank you for making this! Please upload more videos on the channel! Can’t wait to see more! 💛
Also, quick links check - So I opened the links to your website and designs below from India, and unfortunately they didn't load and gave a server error, so I had to use a VPN and was then able to access the website and files! Just bringing to your attention, that the website server might need a check for max compatibility across the world. All the love! 💌
It's sad that there are no more video, no more website
This is probably and without doubt, one of the best videos of MYOG. Absolutly amazing.
Couldn’t agree more.
You sir are single handedly removing a huge barrier to entry for the MYOG hobby. Thank you so much!
this is one of the videos that I have and I'll watch again and again, thank you so much for all your sharing!!!!
The apparent ease of sewing demonstrates an incredible level of skill. Thanks for the video.
The more detail in this one is so nice!
Super job and very well explained!

So good! Now I just need to find the time to make and use it.
thank you so much man! im trying to make a rucksack for bushcraft and i didnt know anything about sewing so this teally clears out ervything
Your packs are next level!
I’ve never wanted to attempt to make my own gear until seeing this on Reddit and coming here to watch. Awesome!
MYOG best . Bless you man. ❤
Love this video! I want to print the patterns, but the links do not work. Can you send new links for the patterns so I may print them? Thank you!
Really great video!! Thanks for sharing this!

Wow well done! Thank you for sharing!
Website down? ☹

Thanks! Yeah, would love a machine that can actually sew through foam!
im so happy i found this channel
I'm so stoked to find this video!!!!
Thanks for the Video. I love your projects and the minimalistic style.
Just incredible. Thanks for sharing.
Superb job and video.
Absolutely amazing video..
Amazing! Thanks for showing your process. Learned a ton.

Well done! That pack seems to be the future of backpacking "ultra" fabric. New follower here. Crow
Is something up with your website by any chance? Was just about to download these patterns but getting an error. Thanks!
Such a great video. Gonna make one soon. But it seems the website with the patterns is down. Any chance the patterns will be available again?
Absolutely love this. Amazing work, as always. This is stellar!
Wonderful 🎉
Can I print this pattern?
Thanks for sharing, so many great tips and ideas :)
nice work
Amazing
Love seeing the process, really enjoyed the video!
That’s it. I have to do this. Thank you for showing me it’s possible. If can thru hike the PCT I can make a backpack 🤙🏽
top notch video, thanks very much.
Riktigt bra och välgjord Video!

Bummer on the broken link. Would love to pay for the pattern.
Beautiful pack and great work!
Great work
Really nice

First off, this is amazing!!! Second, the links to the backpack files don't work. Both links redirect me to a Honda dealership website
FYI the ripstop by the roll podcast has an episode that mentions some special considerations that should be taken when sewing ultra (ie. stitch type, taping, etc.)
This is so awesome!!
Brilliant
The links don't work, can you tell me where I can download the files?
Hi is the zipworks domain still up? Links are not working for me
I cant go into your website anymore. Do you have any other website?
Very well done!!! Wich fabric do usted to make the bag? It's not cordura, I can see...
nah it's ultra 200
Nice Pa'lante V2!
This is true, this pack is basically my take on a mash up between a Pa’lante and Waymark pack
Thanks for sharing! Curious if you have an estimate of the total cost of materials?
Can be sewed with normal sewing machine such as Singer Brilliance ?
Does foam actually need to be the full length of the strap?
Great video btw! I built a very similar pack last year, but am still struggling with comfort. Will play around with shoulder straps.
Awesome video! Just the sort of thing I'm looking to make soon and with the same sewing machine. I feel your pain of trying to sew through the foam!
i still dont make my own gear, but every time i watch your videos i want to start. unfortunately my parisian flat won't let me have the space to buy a sewing machine... hope to be able soon to get one
I spent the first year making my own gear on the kitchen table, putting everything back in a closet after each sewing session. Gud luck!
No padding on the back panel for your back?
super rad. amazing documentation. and nearly a zero waste pattern! what seam allowance are you using?
Thanks! 🙏 I nearly always use 1/4” seam allowance 👍
Hello this bags pattern is avaliable in somewhere ? Awasome project by the way.
There is no literal pattern to print but you don’t need one, all the measurements are in the video and it’s all just straight lines, easily transfered to fabric…
This is great! I want to make this pack so bad. Would it be hard to ad on a couple of straps and hip belt?
Go for it, very doable!
salut!guy~ tank you,excellent video~ catch you later~
凄い!参考になります。
Very good video, thank you. Without the loud background music it would be even better.
This is awesome! Well made and well filmed. Looking forward to see more.
Great video and love the filming / editing style. I'm wondering what grommet and size you used for the pockets?
Thanks! I used a basic grommet kit I picked up at a local hardware store, I think it was 6-7mm
Is anyone able to access the pattern still?
wow!
could you please show how to sew the binding to the bottom of the bag and please let me know where I can find how to make and attach a hip belt to a bag like this. Thank you.
I sew it using a single piece of edge binding but one side at a time..
such quality content and nice video! too sad the channel is only 4K subs
Sir, I need more of your content.
Looks like you are using the gutterman thread for this video. I have the same machine as you and when I use it, I get the birds nest on the bottom. What are you machines settings at? I tried to get it from the video but the I cannot see what the tension is at. Thanks. Great video.

Hey! I don't know if you still monitor comments, but I was wondering how many yards of shell someone might need in order to make this?
Is there any way to get the pattern? :)
What is venom and where can you buy it?
It’s a super strong fabric, built to be the ultimate material for packs. I’ve linked to all the materials in the description…
How do you like your Singer Heavy Duty? Can you compare it to mid range Brother machines? Is it considerably stronger?
It’s a decent machine that is certainly capable of making some gear, best thing about it is its affordability. I can’t compare since I’ve ever only used the Singer HD but I would imagine it is not worth it to upgrade if you already have a machine of similar price.
A bit more detailed Look on how the Stitching and Binding is made would be nice! Anyhow... Nice Tutorial 🤘😎
Snyggt!
Excelente
Tried using the adhesive stick on sewing strip but the needle keeps jamming up with glue and the stitches don't take.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble! What adhesive product are you using and how are you using it?
Hello mr zipworks man, where are u? No post in forever 😑 hope u are well!
Nice video for myog, Is it already stop making new video?
Good day sir! Good job! I can't access the files.. The site is unavailable. Could you please upload the files again? Thanks
Hi there! Thanks for your videos! You’re channel has been such an inspiration and the reason why I started making my own gear!
I’m about to give it a try and make this pack. I’m wondering, would you recommend using 5.0 oz dyneema as the main material for the pack? I have some big piece of it left after my last project …..
Sorry for the late reply, yeah I’d make a pack out of 5 oz dyneemq for sure! Thanks for watching!
Must have missed something here but where do I click on the download for the strap detail? Thanks.
In the description, under ”Shoulder strap pattern” 👍
Hello! How much fabric do I need if I want to make an entire backpack out of X-Pac? Don't consider mesh, airmesh and the like
Typically 1 yard or meter is enough
@@zipworks I looked at the scheme on your website, counted, and came out about 3 meters
@@beviraway8616 3m sounds too much, probably more like 1m in my opinion, considering ca 137 cm width and a somewhat efficient use of fabric
does anyone have the patterns still?? the website isn't up anymore :((
Does anyone have the pattern for this? Looks like the link is spam.

Thanks! 🙏 Yeah, for this project I had 1m of fabric but I think you can just about make it work with 1 yd too. Best of luck!
