DIY Ultralight Backpack - MYOG
In this episode of zipworks, I'm making a DIY ultralight backpack intented for fast and light overnight hiking. Really excited to share this one, I think it turned out a fantastic pack - my best sewing work to date! It's fairly small, frameless and hipbeltless - so it's suited to shorter trips with minimal gear or a thru-hike if you have your gear extremely dialed. The main body is made from Ecopak Ultra 200, the shoulder straps from venom and then there is variety of mesh fabrics used for the pocketes. It's a roll-top with a magnetic closure and the buckles for the top and sternum strap are magnetized as well. The final weight came out to 14oz and the dimensions are 11x7x30in, which work...

Tools for MYOG - DIY
Просмотров 19 тыс.2 года назад
In this short video I've put together a list of the essential tools you need to make your own outdoor gear (MYOG) from scratch, such as DIY backpacks, fanny packs or even tents and sleeping bags - the tools are much the same. Most of it is commonplace sewing equipment but I've narrowed it down to the tools that I've found through experience to work the best for the kinds of materials and projec...
DIY Stem Bag - MYOG
Просмотров 24 тыс.3 года назад
In this episode of zipworks I'm making a DIY bikepacking stem bag, also known as a feed bag. It is the third and final project in the DIY bike bags mini-series having previously made a handlebar bag and a saddle bag. Stem bags are popular not only among bikepackers for good reason, they are provide storage accessible while riding the bike. They are perfectly suited to hold anything from an extr...
DIY Bike Saddle Bag - MYOG
Просмотров 19 тыс.3 года назад
In this episode of zipworks I make a very minimal DIY saddle / seat bag for cycling. I tried making it as discrete and small as possible while still being able to fit the bare minimum puncture repair kit; a spare tube, tyre levers and a CO2 canister. It's 4x3x2in with a #5 zipper from HHH and a 1/4 seam allowance. The main fabric is 1680d ballistic nylon, which I think works great for this appl...
DIY Handlebar Bag - MYOG
Просмотров 39 тыс.3 года назад
In this episode of zipworks I make a slim and aero bike handlebar bag with a zippered top. The intended use is to hold a few bars, tools and/or arm warmers on everyday training rides and maybe even going bikepacking. It's a very minimal design, just a single compartment and made from a single panel. Some molle style webbing across the back serves as the simple attachment system to the handlebar...
2021 Ultralight Backpacking Gear List - MYOG
Просмотров 36 тыс.3 года назад
In this video, I go through the full list of ultralight gear I will be taking with me on the overnight hikes I'm doing in 2021. The backpacking loadout is very minimal, I've made alot of it myself (MYOG) and everything is completely black #allblackeverythingforever ..well almost, some of it is in grey scale. And some brown. Various colors. #ultralight #myog #hiking GEAR MENTIONED - Tent - bit.l...
DIY Packable Daypack - MYOG
Просмотров 11 тыс.3 года назад
How to make a packable daypack project with a body made from 210d ripstop nylon. I call it packable because there is very little structure to it and it can be folded/rolled to not take up very much space at all. Using seatbelt webbing as shoulder straps is surprisingly comfortable and a neat way to avoid making actual shoulder straps, by far the hardest part to make on a backpack. The zippered ...
DIY Ultralight Dyneema Backpack - MYOG

In this episode we make an ultralight, frameless and hipbeltless backpack made for overnight hiking. It's 40L in volume and made primarily from 3.5oz hybrid dyneema. The final weight came out to 12.8oz. This was a really fun project, I hope more people will discover the joys of making your own gear. Y'all got any more of that wonder tape? Thanks for watching! #myog #diy #dyneema #ultralight #se...
DIY Dyneema Packing Cube - MYOG
Просмотров 29 тыс.3 года назад
One of the many packing cubes I made this week for an upcoming backpack project. Made from lightweight yet very strong 1 oz DCF which interestingly is a bit transparent. I'll mark that something positive in this application since you may be able to make out what's in any given cube without opening it up. The size is 12x7.5x5 inches which works out to a volume of about 7 liters. Links to all the...

Wonderful 🎉 Can I print this pattern?
Website was out of service lol big sad😢
Hoping you're well, I came back to this video for a comfort evening and so glad I did. This sprung a full on love for sewing and an outlet for creativity for me that I'm unsure I otherwise would have discovered. Thank you <3
bonjour on peut télécharger le patron ? merci joli travail
First off, this is amazing!!! Second, the links to the backpack files don't work. Both links redirect me to a Honda dealership website
What happened to the website?
Is there any way to get the pattern? :)
dode U need a real machine for a sewing. Ie. JUKI, Siruba, Jack etc... Definitely with tripple transport. Then magic happens !
insane
nice work
Great, now explain how it works with aerobars, can it be moved down, basic, so basic.
The more detail in this one is so nice!
With a double sided zipper pull, could this fold into it's own front pocket? I've wondered about how to pull that off on projects and haven't seen much info out there.
This is one of the coolest channels in part because the materials and quality that are conveyed (waterproofing especially is of interest to me). Definitely wish the website was still up and there were more detailed tutorials, I think you have a lot of insights to share and the creativity and passion will come for folks once they get some wins following instructions.
I don't know why I keep clicking on 3 minute gow to videos. I don't think I've ever completed a project with videos that skip edit every few seconds. If it takes you 30 minutes to make it I wanna see 39 minutes of film.
Great video, very motivating! Is there any chance that you make your specs available again?
I wish you were still making videos. Your stuffs so interesting
ça fait plaisir de voir des français aussi chaud !!
Bonjour. En tant que débutante, c’est compliqué de vous suivre et de comprendre. Dommage. Peut être un autre jour. Kiss from France
A very clean backpack.. consider me inspired to make some gear! Have you ever thought about making a chest pack? Something similar to the HELIKON-TEX chest pack? Would love to see your take on something like that?
thank you so much man! im trying to make a rucksack for bushcraft and i didnt know anything about sewing so this teally clears out ervything
Is anyone able to access the pattern still?
Can't get on the website because i dont want to download an extension to my computer
I just use a sportclimbing chalk bag 😄
Holy cow! This looks a lot easier than I anticipated. Clean design. Thank you!
The links in the description do no longer work :(
I have a sewing machine for making clothes, can it be used to sew bags?
MYOG best . Bless you man. ❤
Does foam actually need to be the full length of the strap?
Love the quality of your work both the daypack and video. Exactly the kind of pack I am looking to make for travel around water. Cheers.
Hey, this is really an awesome video. Greta job. Can you maybe let me know where ich can dowlload the pdf? Sadly i can't find ich
Great video, thanks. A rule measures to the end, a ruler doesn't.
Have you stopped and let the homepage go?
THIS IS AMAZING
dude. I just found your youtube channel and I'm amazed! I'm learning to use a sewing machine and I'm very excited to try to make my own gear for cycling and bikepacking. Thank you so much for all the work you put into making this channel!
Very well done!!! Wich fabric do usted to make the bag? It's not cordura, I can see...
nah it's ultra 200
Thanks! Mine came out great and definitely easier than a four panel version. If I make another, I would widen the external panel.
Why the inane music? Makes it unwatchable.
Not really it's like a retro prno😊
Very slick. I made my own green one. Slightly different to suit my needs and still 14oz.
Sure if you have some scrap Dyneema left over I guess this is a neat little item.
What was the total cost for the completed project?
What stitching pattern would you recommend for this?
Really bummed your site went down, really wishing I could still access your pattern generators!! Cool project man :D
Same as YOU! @zipworks
This is a great pack (and video) and would love to make it myself. Is there any way you could post the pattern? I guess I could take a screenshot from the video but not as convenient as having a PDF pattern. Thank you!
This was epic and I am now excited to build along similar lines . Thankyou
Your projects are great but... Why are you using this imperial crap instead of normal metric units? It doesn't make sense...
Quick question @zipworks , in the plans the back is 5” no seam allowance. The front 2 panels totals to 5.5” (4.25” + 1.25”) minus the 2 seams allowances (.25” + .25” = .5”) comes to 5 inches on the front panel in fabric. Does this not account for the added width (height of front panel) the zipper will introduce? Wouldn’t the front be taller than the back? Thanks.
Did you figure the problem out? I was thinking the same.
I cant go into your website anymore. Do you have any other website?
How do you like the trekking poles?
I just made one! Coolest shit ever! Thanks for the video man
