It’s the small projects around the house that’s hard for me. To small to hire a handyman and I can usually fix it if I know how. RUclips has been a big help. Thanks for the information and for posting this.
am a 67yr old young lady and do all my things myself ( No electrical) - my husband does not want to read directions. It runs in his family... RUclips is the ticket! Thank you RUclips!
This may seem pretty obvious to some people, but if you did not know that there is a tab holding the dome to the outer fixture, and you just need to twist it, it could cause you to break your light fixture! Some of these things "Snap" together, so I thought this was helpful information! Thank you!
Omg thank you for this how to video. My husband recently passed away. He took care of everything regarding our home. I’m all alone and a couple of days ago my MBR shower had 2 bulbs go out. I’ve been debating to call a handyman but your video literally saved me a lot of money. A handyman would’ve cost me over $100 on a 10 min job. God bless you 🙏
Sorry your husband passed. Yes you CAN do it with RUclips! By the way- I saw a post in my area of someone hiring. an electrical co. to come to their home to change out a few bulbs in a 20 foot plus ceiling with a pole and ladder. ( I too had a ceiling like that at one time and we loved using dimmers- and in 19 years we never had to change a bulb there. They charged the people hundreds of dollars!!! Ask first always!
Thanks for showing this. I tried turning it in place but nothing happened. I did not realize you have to pull it down and then turn the inner portion. Now I do. My wife will be pleased if I get this done.
Thank you so much! My mother-in-law needed this changed and I had no idea how to do it and found your video. And it was tricky to pull out but I would have never figured it out on my own. After your video I had it changed in about 5 minutes. Thanks again!
It is crazy that I can throw some words into google describing this exact fixture and poof, here is this video. And by the looks of it tons of others have done the same. Bravo and thank you. I jacked around with that fixture for hours and never through to pull the whole thing out of the ceiling.
When I was married, there were always a few things I never had to worry abt fixing. This happens to be one of them. Thxs for making the videos bc I wasn't sure abt this one at all! Fingers crossed mine goes as smoothly as yours did
Lol. You probably didn't mean it this way but your sentence comes off as a hilarious low level insult to your husband. And I mean that in a friendly way. It made me laugh. I also don't know what the heck I'm doing. That's why I'm here
I do appreciate your video! But honestly you worked really hard at that lol. See those two wires on each side…. They are spring loaded “see twisty thing”. Just push those together and that little house comes out! Would make that so much easier
So my light is domeless. Currently gonna go to the local hardware stores to see if its even possible to buy one. Very confused haha. Hope you see this and could maybe explain why this was? Great video either way. Very helpful.
Quick tip. If you have small hands u don’t need twist anything just slide your hand in and twist the bulb off and replace. I had a regular size bulb also. So it was easy
i was just going to make my guests either shower in another room or shower in the dark HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA ... Thank you. I'm sure my friends thank you as well.
very helpful, but need to talk about the type bulb you use for replacement. Keep the lumens the same as the original (300 in mine). If you put a bulb with higher lumens there is a fire hazard risk as the bulb is enclosed in the can.
Thank you for this! Am I able to put any type of bulb in this? I noticed the one that previously went out had an auto shut off? If I forgot to turn the light off then it would cut off by itself? If I flipped the switch off and then turn it back on then the light would come back on immediately. Maybe it’s not the bulb but the way the electrical was designed???
I would also think the auto shutoff should be controlled by the switch and not the light bulb, unless it’s a new type of light bulb I am not aware of. Let me know how it turns out.
May I ask if you were able to remedy this. My bathroom shower light fixture does the exact same thing… only once it’s off… I have to wait for it to come back on.
@@deryckszatkowski5284 no I have not! I think it has to do with the wattage of the bulb maybe because once I replaced the bulb i now have to wait for the light to come back on too. Doesn’t come back on immediately. So I’m not real sure! If you find out the answer to this please let me know, because it’s mildly irritating.
Very convoluted video making something that should be simple much more difficult than it needs to be. I knew after watching only 40 seconds of this that this video would not teach me what I needed to know quickly and easily.
@@travelingtrex4897 yep. It really sucks. I love those lights. They’re cool. I would’ve put an LED daylight or LED color changing light bulb in there as I love the light of LED
@@loudspeakertestsmorebyaida3804 Does it have a vented fan above? It depends on whether it's a rental. If not, might worth while to change it the way you want.
I didn’t know what I was doing and I pulled so far that the two metal pieces that hold the fixture in the can fell out. I’ve swapped the bulb, but can’t get the cover back in place.
What? Do you have a video where you can do this? Remember, it's a light that's above a shower or a bathtub and it's designed so that steam doesn't contact the light bulb.
@@machomachinmachinmachinmac6910 I’m sorry I didn’t mean to disrespect you or anything like that. I have a shower light just look like yours and this is how i do mine. after pull down the cover I just squeeze and pull down the two springs that hold the cover. The cover should come off and you can replace the bulb. When put the cover back on you just have to make sure to push it in the same direction as you pulled it out and it should clip right up. You’ll see what I mean when you got it pull out by squeeze the springs that we’re holding it.

Craig, thank you. Your comment made my day!
Let me know what other projects you like to see, and I will see whether I have the resource to do it.

I know this is an older video, just wanted to reach out and say thanks because it saved the day. Amazing information, thank you
EXACTLY the fixture I am trying to change right now. And no, I don’t think the answer is obvious at all. Thanks for the help!
Thank you for making it happen with one hand. I was already thinking about worst case scenario of having to go in attic.
Oh wow!! This was so helpful!! We successfully changed our light bulb in our shower after watching your video!! Thank u so much for sharing!
thank u for the video. we have lived in our house for 14 years and one day!! the light was out. !!

finally your video helped me to replace our shower light bulb,. Thank you sir!! Your video is pretty simple and neat.

I really appreciate this. I replaced mine it was super easy as it doesn't have that extra cover thing. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for your video! I just replaced the bulbs in my bathroom.
Thank you! This definitely kept my dad from driving 4 hours to change it!

I just exchanged my light bulb. Thank you for the video
It worked just like you said in this video. Thanks.

I did it! And, your video provided the needed explanation.

I was glad that he showed how to change the bulb without dealing with those wires. I had already taken my fixture down, but those wires are a pain!
Thank you I appreciate it more than you know👍
Thank you, will try tomorrow🙋♀️
Thank you sir! I just go look at a video before I do something now just because it’s such a timesaver!
Thank you. I will finally replace my burnt bulbs.

Thanks for posting this video, it is tricky, I wonder why the design is so unfriendly.
Exactly! They can send a man to the moon, but changing a lightbulb can be so convoluted! 😂
Thanks. That's easy enough. Definitely easier than I thought. 😔 My fear of creepy crawling thing falling out while I'm changing it freaks me out.
Thank you! Just replaced mine
Worked perfectly. Thank you so much!

What type of light bulb does it use?
Mine is all one piece 😁 lovely

Are these standard bulbs or water “resistant” type?

I really miss having a shower light. It lightens the tub area. That fixture looked a lot similar to the ones I had about 6 years ago.
So I assume your current one has no light?

Why can't people just leave normal light fixtures alone an stop creating headaches injuries to people to hard an sophisticated for most
Thanks
Thanks.
Mine are a different design. When I push the lens back up it doesn’t stay tight to the ceiling. Ugh!
I didn’t know what I was doing and I pulled so far that the two metal pieces that hold the fixture in the can fell out. I’ve swapped the bulb, but can’t get the cover back in place.
I need some help man... Mine didnt have latches, it was being held on by the lightbulb & friction. I don't know what to do here.
these lights are hideous. yuck. thanks for the video.
PS. This fixture had no tabs to release, springs only.
It’s like they’re designed so you have to call someone.
They could design 2 screws to hold the light bulb cover instead of 2 prongs.
This unit is a heat lamp
Chile….ima just call the handyman
Mine won't open 😢
Mine is crazy tight....not coming out
I assume you were able to access the light bulb but it doesn't turn?
This stuff is such a pain in the ass, makes me hate being a homeowner
Those fixtures are bulls@$t
Adam, they are tricky to get to the light bulb. Are yours similar?
I'm even more confused after watching this mess!
My glass cracked...
You did it the hard way, should’ve just take off the cover first.
What?
Do you have a video where you can do this?
