Do you focus on the game or do you feel like you are fidgeting with the watch too much? I will say replacing a range finder with a watch to be a logical decision.
Hi Shane, GREAT question. I found it to be pretty natural, and it’s up to you if you want to use all features or just simply get the distance. It doesn’t have to be paired to the phone either. But if you do, you’ll get wind, stats tracked and a few other goodies. The way I use it most times is no notifications, just GPS with caddie and scoring / stats. And sometimes the hole finder feature comes in handy for blind shots.

I was really happy with the S60, but the larger screen, Heart Rate monitor are super nice and the battery life so far is amazing also. Honestly, those are the only 3 real upgrades that differentiate the two for me.
I think your question is more around the function called “Plays Like” which factors in things like slope, weather and wind direction which would be illegal for tournament play. Very easy to toggle this to off: Settings: Golf Settings: Tournament Mode. Then just turn on or off from there.
Hi there, have you used it yet on the course? Hi Gary, thanks for the question. No, it can do it without any extra tech. Each shot distance is recorded. The watch asks for your club selection after it senses a swing. Apart from one pitch shot greenside, it recognized each of my swings. When you get to your ball you hit a button to register where the ball landed.
@@LetsPlayThru Garmin offers a S62 Bundle that includes 3 of the CT10 trackers, so that must mean that those trackers give you info that you either can't get thru the S62 alone, or they make it easier to get that info. These golf gps watches can give you a bunch of information, but at what cost to keeping up the pace of play? I'm a fan of them - I actually think they can speed up pace of play over having to keep reaching for your rangefinder and having to shoot the flag. I've been wearing my Bushnell watch for a year or more, but I don't use the full range of features 'cause I don't want to hold up my playing partners - they might put Crisco all over my grips while I'm buried in my watching trying to find how far I just drove the ball! I guess a good question to ask you is, are you constantly pushing buttons while playing, or are allot of the functions automated? Thanks for this review - it's most likely persuaded me to opt for the S62!
@@brucephillips1736 Yes you would get more performance data such as swing speed. I think it would also automatically know which club you are using rather than you having to manually enter it. Hi Boss man, will you be reviewing this watch again on the course? will be interesting to see the actual accuracy and also how the club suggestion works in a game.
Accuracy is deadly accurate (I kept checking acccuracy against a buddy’s laser and the golf cart Nav and it was within one or two yards diff). In terms of club selection, you will not get that info until you’ve got 5 rounds recorded on the SAME course.
@@swisstrader Did the comparison with your buddy's lazer have a slope adjusted yardage comparison to the S62 "play like" yardage? I am trying to decide between the S62 or a laser rangefinder with slope. Thanks
cyclingpanther yes. My friend has a laser that factors in slope (just a switch to turn it on or off to make it tournament legal) and readings were very similar. The watch blows away any laser...no need to constantly pull it out to take a reading, gives layup to 100 yards, 150 and 200 distances, gives precise location of water and bunkers w one press of a button, does a bunch of personal health stuff like oxygen readings, heart rate, stress levels, weather, tracking for a bunch of other sports like cycling, and on top of all that, you have a sharp looking watch on and can change the face anytime you choose.
I almost bought this watch, but instead went with a samsung smart watch and paired it with my S10 plus. Uses an app for golf. Not as nice as the garmin as far as the interface on the watch. The garmin has the ability to tell you distances to hazards ect on the face, while I have to do that on my phone via the app, the watch is basically only good for center/front/back yardages, as well as keeping your shot/score. Not horrible but not really comparable to the Garmin. Garmin is way better for stand alone golf. I wonder how the garmin does as a stand alone smart watch tho. If it has notifications, can receive calls, take voice to text ect. Reason I went with the smart watch.
What intrigues me the most about this new Garmin model is that it will track your shot dispersion and then give you club selections based on how you're playing that day. Crazy! I need to log 5 rounds with it to unlock that feature though. It does receive and display notifications, however I cannot seem to reply or talk through it (at least that I've found so far). It will track heart rate, sleep, etc similar to my Apple Watch.
@@LetsPlayThru that's a super cool feature. Mine def doesn't do that. The garmin GPS face just looks so cool when you're on course as well. One reason I really wanted to buy it. Gonna stick to the smart watch for now but in all honesty, I'll probably end up buying a garmin watch this season. Stand alone golf watches are awesome, especially this model.
It would replace my s10...I want a fitness watch combined with a Golf watch and this looks like the best...Its too bad it costs as much as new irons. 😯
@@LetsPlayThru I am not sure a watch that has a 5 or less year life can be considered an investment....The $99 S10 I am using and the distance markers on the courses I played are not affected by hackers..✌️ I hope Garmin gets through this latest extortion.
Holy smoke. The tech is lost on me. This is a guy who got a round of applause in T-Mobile in Naples FL, after discussing with an advisor that I needed a US SIM card for my dinosaur Nokia phone which had the snake game on it.
You can accept and decline calls but you would need to use your device to actually talk to them. In practice if you have earbuds like AirPods, you could accept the call from the watch and start talking. However you can’t speak into the watch itself.

It’s a real quick process though so I’m not sure how much time that would actually save.
You play with some savage dudes if they would Crisco your clubs, ha ha.
Can you ring people on this? Also can you text messages?
not in the same way an Apple Watch works. you can receive the notifications. you can answer calls, but that simply picks up your mobile phone.
Hi Boss man, will you be reviewing this watch again on the course? will be interesting to see the actual accuracy and also how the club suggestion works in a game.
HerrBratwurst I will try to do one in the next few weeks. Thank you.
NYC Entrepreneur do you know if the S62 has ability to turn off playlike function for legal tournament play?
how's the battery life?
Absolutely incredible. I went an entire week without having to charge. Loses less than 20% per day.
Played 18 with it yesterday and wore it all day long and only went down 25%
I almost bought this watch, but instead went with a samsung smart watch and paired it with my S10 plus.
@@theweekendhack yes this year is the first I"d ever even consider a golf gps watch. the tech has finally caught up.
Got the S60 but this looks insane !
I never tested the S60 but many have said the same. Virtual caddy is a really cool innovation
does it pair to an android phone?
Yes
I want to know if this model supports Thai language?
Hi Bhumrapee, I don't see Thai listed as a language on the watch. However, since this is new tech, that may change soon with an update.
It would replace my s10...I want a fitness watch combined with a Golf watch and this looks like the best...Its too bad it costs as much as new irons. 😯
It’s an investment. If you consider it a daily wearer it could be argued that the price per use is pretty good value
@@LetsPlayThru I am not sure a watch that has a 5 or less year life can be considered an investment....The $99 S10 I am using and the distance markers on the courses I played are not affected by hackers..✌️ I hope Garmin gets through this latest extortion.
We if Greg Norman likes it I guess I’m getting it lol
sapper made he sold me too :)
Can you listen to music through it e.g play pause skip
Yes, it has a music feature. I have not personally used it yet though.
You can control the music playing on your phone. FF/SKIP/Pause/Play/Volume, but the music does not play through the watch.
Perfect, thanks Duppy
Can you store music on it ?
@@surxer it plays the music from your phone, so it acts more like a controller.
I can not see what you show me. It's very dark.😁
Hello lets play Thru Golf Show. I wish you a happy, healthy and happy day. Share Garmin S62 Approach and Reviews. be my friend, dear
Holy smoke. The tech is lost on me. This is a guy who got a round of applause in T-Mobile in Naples FL, after discussing with an advisor that I needed a US SIM card for my dinosaur Nokia phone which had the snake game on it.
How do you generally get yardages? Do you walk it off, use a rangefinder or eyeball it?
Bad eyeball these days! Today’s technology is outstanding for sure.
Also backlighting stays on the entire time you’re playing golf.
@@LetsPlayThru I wish couses still planted 150 yard bushes!
Would have been much better if you took it out on a course and then showed us the bells and whistles.
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/Eit5WuQTeJ4/видео.html
What took so long :)
Can you make phone call with it?
You can accept and decline calls but you would need to use your device to actually talk to them. In practice if you have earbuds like AirPods, you could accept the call from the watch and start talking. However you can’t speak into the watch itself.
For $500, they don't give you a charger!
This click ist much too big on the wirst!!
