    Great review! I learned some things about my S62 VC I didn't know before. My S62 works great for the most part. On some par 3s, the VC will recommend a club that will only travel half the distance to the green. Even the red line with the target circle will show that the shot will travel halfway. This only happens on some par 3s. I worked with Garmin for 6 weeks to resolve. Eventually, they sent me a new S62. However, the issue remains. I'm not sure what the problem is, but my latest question to Garmin: Is the target shown on the watch (red circle) based on the VC club recommendation, or is the VC club recommendation based on the placement of the red circle? If the latter, then perhaps the mapping for that hole is incorrect.

    I'm guessing the distances are with the roll which is deceiving on approach shots with trouble in front or carrying over a hazard. Can you minimize the discrepancy by marking where your ball lands on the green or fairway? Or does it just wait for where you hit your next shot?

    Awesome watch, was using it for the 1st time today with the caddy feature enabled, so no rounds completed yet, 1st 2 holes it worked great, asked me what club, how many puts where my drive landed, then on hole 3 it stopped asking how many puts, and my score, I had to wait till I got to the next tee then it showed the next hole, this happened for the rest of the round, I had 3 pars on the front 9 but none were recorded, sometimes it gave me 3 puts, is there a way to input my puts if it doesn’t ask. Thanks for the video. I hope my questions are not repeats. Do you know if one can easily clear the club distance data easily from the S62? I think my five rounds of club distance data will be very different in the winter versus my summer rounds (at least in my location). I would like to reset my five base rounds at times based on the time of year and how I'm playing. Also, you stated that the virtual caddie takes wind into account. Do you know if this is specifically written in the manual, or are you assuming that the wind is calculated into the virtual caddie recommendations? Can you estimate how often the watch does not pick up a swing? I'm presently using a Garmin S40 and I would estimate that it does not pick up driver swings 50% of the time. It almost always picks up iron swings.

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  3 года назад +1

      You can delete swings from the app. I'd recommend not resetting though. It will adjust as your game adjusts. I don't read manuals, so couldn't tell you for sure, but it does take wind into account. Watch picks up 98% of my swings. Sometimes misses a chip shot, but that's all I've noticed.

    Hello! Thank you for the video. I have a couple of questions for you that concern water hazard / penalty strokes. First, a hypothetical:
    1) Let's say I play a hole with a water hazard in front of the green, and I hit the ball into the water hazard using a 7 iron. I take my drop where the ball crossed into the water hazard, approximately 20 yards shorter than where the ball would have "landed". Is there a way to document the shot on the S62 or Garmin Connect App so that it doesn't skew the club distance tracking statistics of my 7 iron?
    2) When I score the hole using the S62, would I count the total number of strokes (including the penalty stroke) on the first screen, or would I only count the number of actual strokes I took, and then on that fourth screen is where I add the penalty stroke?

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  3 года назад +1

      1. In the app you can delete out /adjust shots.
      2. You would do both. Mark your score and then choose how many penalties were incurred.

    • @andrewmenges2960
      @andrewmenges2960 3 года назад

      @@LetsPlayThru So that Penalty Stroke screen acts like the Putts Taken screen (the number of putts taken is used for statistics tracking only and does not increase your score, according to the manual)?
      Thanks again!

    Important to note: always wear this device on lead hand. I'm left handed, golf righty but typically wear my watches on my right hand. Big issue for Garmin.
    If your a right handed golfer, wear Garmin watch on left hand. Left handed golfers wear watch on right hand.

    I have the Garmin S60 and my wife has the new Garmin S62. The Garmin S60 is absolutely flawless through years of use. The Garmin S62, not so much. The biggest problem is it has a tendency to jump to different holes. Garmin advised us to do a factory reset on the watch. We did but that did not correct the problem. Garmin then did a swap with us and the replacement S62 does the same thing. This is not a case of her hitting the ball into the next fairway or anything like that, it just jumps to different hole. Besides, my S60 never does this, even if my drive goes wildly astray into an adjacent fairway. I just don't know what the deal is and it can't be that the S62 does this to everyone because nobody else complains about it. The caddie feature is fantastic when the watch isn't wandering off to the wrong hole and relieves me of having to advise her on club choice.

      That's a very strange problem. I've never seen that happen to mine. I"d contact their customer support for sure. Also, is it possible you have a Siri shortcut enabled? Long shot, but maybe that's the culprit.

    Big issue I have with Garmin is they collect strokes from chips around the green and bad hits. That yardage is counted in the average yardage for your clubs. For example if you chip with a 7 iron, 10 yards, that adds into club averages. There is no way to edit your club data. The best you can do is retire (throw away) your club data from time to time and start over.

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  Год назад

      This isn’t exactly the case. They throw out outliers so it should still provide a very good average distance for each club.

      @@LetsPlayThru BTW, love your review. But untrue as far as my research can tell me. Recently just reset all my clubs and there is already a 543 yd drive and a 312 yd 7 iron in the stats in just two games. It's a big problem and people have been asking Garmin for access to the data for years. There is only one way so far to remedy this and that is to go into your scorecard, and delete the odd shots. I have do have an S60 not S62.

      +CT10 club sensors. There’s no comparing. After round stats does help improve your game… really knowing how far you actually hit your clubs gives you way more confidence on approach shots.
