    I have the s62. No complaints, I love it on the course and I wear it off the course. User friendly operations as well. Your comments tell me it’s hard to please you so if anyone reads this, it’s a great watch you won’t be dissatisfied.

      Thanks for watching. I wouldn’t consider myself hard to please, but I like to think I’ve given my honest review of the watch. My personal preference means I wouldn’t want to wear it off the course. I acknowledge it has some good and unique features and is a top quality golf watch, but it’s a lot of money to spend and I wanted to highlight that IMO the watch isn’t perfect, and the S42 or even the S12 are still valid options, as not everyone needs all the features they are paying for.

      how do feel about the size of it? I worry its too bulky for my skinny wrists. but really love the features. Torn between the slighty slimmer s42 or this.

      I have it myself, I believe it was worth the price( I’m not loaded by any standards)
      I am more than satisfied with the size and functionality of it.
      I took it to Big cedar Lodge last week and it really was of benefit for me. The auto caddie calculated the wind and helped me the adjust shots for slope, and blind shots. I didn’t load up paynes valley on my watch( I figured because it was a fairly new course but it did load on my phones app)and let me tell you I really missed having it. Only charged it once. Love all the other functions, maybe the heart monitor is slightly off at times because it needs a solid skin to watch contact but it’s fairly reliable. The guys I played with ended up turning to me for yardages by the end of the trip lol
      All in all I’m completely satisfied and I suggest everyone do their own research on it. If I had to rate my satisfaction it’d be a 4.8 stars.
      Two of the guys on the trip actually are now considering getting it 😅

      I agree. I have had it for 3 summers and have the Garmin sensors as well and it’s great. I didn’t have a smart watch so it was a no brainer as I didn’t want to buy a mid grade smart watch and also a mid grade golf watch. I recommend it. The sensors aren’t necessary at all but they were a gift. The ability to review your shots locations and distances hit and of course distances and the wind is top tier.

    I've had the S62 for about 2 years now and absolutely love it. I did pair it up with the CT10 system and the data has been exceptionally useful for me (having factual club distances has been great). I'm not sure how useful the system would be for a better golfer but at my level (bad), it has provided a lot. For a better golfer that already knows what he/she is doing, it probably doesn't have as much value (distances, course layout, hazards, etc). Being able to review your round after playing has also been helpful; I can go back and try to figure out a better plan the next time I play (i.e. why was I so aggressive on a shot when there really wasn't a reason to be). I think it has tracked 27 rounds now and I still find it useful.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching Aaron and taking the time to share your experience with the watch. I’m sure better golfers than us would still benefit from the data that gathers over time on the various parts of the game it tracks. I can see I leave around 40% of my approaches short, so I’m working on the course to reduce that 👍

    Thanks for the video but i noticed few mistakes: the backlight does turn on when you raise your wrist. On my Android phone, I can actually control my music and media. And I can set up which type of notifications I wish to receive by using the Garmin Connect App. Overall i agree with you, good but pricey watch.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching Truth 72. I tried loads but couldn’t get the back light to come on when I lifted my wrist? Have you paired to an android phone, as I can’t see how you control the music when paired to my iPhone (EDIT - I’ve just been playing around some more and seen that I can control my music on my phone from the watch. To do it I had to swipe up and add the music control widget. I can now pause and skip, there’s no volume control that I can see. It seems the music control doesn’t automatically show on the main function when I start playing music like an iWatch, I have to swipe through the various widgets I have turned on to get to the control widget, then select it, and then I can control the media)
      Also I used the Garmin app. When using an iPhone the ability to control notifications is very limited.

    • @truth7286
      @truth7286 2 года назад

      @@GolfGuyReviews I set up backlight to 'Gesture always on'.
      Yes i paired it with Android phone and i can control easily all media including RUclips, Netflix etc.
      As for notifications, i set it up to receive only sms and WhatsApp messages but deactivated all other notifications. In Garmin Connect, settings, then notifications. Maybe different with iPhones.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  2 года назад +2

      Thanks so much for this.
      I've found the gesture setting, which I've turned on and it now works!
      However, with the iPhone, I don't have all those options for controlling the notifications, I have a single toggle which turns push notifications on or off. I can't control per app.
      I will add a note in the description highlighting these points!

      Just a note to say I've now totally removed the parts of the video referencing the backlight and music controller. While it's far from ideal having to search for those options in the menu, and I never came across them during my review, they are clearly part of the watch.
      Thanks again for highlighting.

    It’s a great watch but I agree it’s quite expensive

    The battery life is absolutely insane I can usually get 3/4 rounds without charging

    Good review. I have the S60 (I think that’s what it’s called) and I use front, middle and back yardage and very very occasionally the pin seeker / compass function which I agree can be really useful. I don’t use it for yardages to hazards and I don’t move the pin around the green as I can use a laser for all that. Nice to have all the gubbins but not essential.

    Very useful video thanks. Having watched a few of your videos on watches you reference you have an Apple Watch but I can’t find a review video of you using it using one or a few of the golf apps out there. How do you find the Apple Watch for golf vs the S62? And what is your watch of choice on the course? Thanks in advance.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  Год назад

      Thanks Chris. I used to use the Golf Shot Pro app on my Apple Watch series 2. Worked well, but would eat my battery to the point it would barely last 18 holes.
      It’s a tough call, as a new Apple Watch is slimmer and has much better everyday functionality if you own an iPhone (I currently have a series 6 that I use mainly for exercise as I’ve started an affordable watch collection so I wear mechanical watches mostly). But you’ll have to pay a subscription to get a golf app that comes close to the Garmin, and the apple watch’s battery will barely last a day after a full round. If you like the look and happy with the price. I hear the Apple Watch ultra is a better option for golf due to the better battery life.
      If you’re seriously into exercise tracking, feel the superior battery life or golf features are essential, then it’s got to be the Garmin.

    The Garmin S62 does much more than golf. If you have a health care savings plan your Doctor can write a prescription to purchase this watch or any other health watch. In addition to golf, this watch does running, swimming, treadmills mine attached yesterday to a treadmill at the club, and bicycles it is great for that. All in all, I love my GS62. So bang for your buck it is a great watch. I also have a G945, both of these watches last forever.

    It’s great for yardages and the pin finder is good although I’m still not quite sure exactly how accurate that is, I think it would be greatly improved if you could see tree layouts on the screen. Especially when you’re trying to layup blind from the rough. Gives you something to aim at. Im a bit disappointed considering it’s meant to be a golf watch first. There’s free to use apps on iPhone/I watch that gives you more basic detail of course layouts

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  Год назад

      The new S70 has a more detailed map when it comes to tree locations. It’s a tricky one, as this watch isn’t perfect, and as you highlight there are free apps that can do certain thing’s better, but as a whole package it was the one to beat (but has now been overtaken by the new S70)

    You regularly make comments about comparing golf watches to your apple watch. But never seem to point out that the apple watch has no built in golf feature, no tracking tags, poor battery life when using GPS, and is expensive.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  Год назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Many golf apps for the Apple Watch are free, across tracking tags that work with the watch are cheaper than the Garmin CT10 tags (although more expensive as an annual subscription), and as a watch is generally cheaper than the Garmin. Without watching it back at 6am, I’m pretty sure I highlight the poor battery life by comparison. But I don’t go into too much detail as this is not a full comparison video, I make the comparisons to give some context to the Garmin.

    I have this watch, I loved it for the first few rounds, but the problem is I'm having more and more issues with it not advancing to the next hole, or the yardage freezing up in the middle of a fairway, not showing the correct yardage as I Advance towards the hole. I have done multiple updates via the website on a PC and it still hasn't fixed the issue. And in regards to the subscription, I paid for it for the year, and I'm highly disappointed that many of the courses that my friends and I play here in San Diego are not on there for the green reading feature, I have written to Garmin over and over again trying to get them to add these very popular courses, but with no response, and over a year, I don't see them adding any of the courses. Very disappointing Garmin. Decent watch when it works, but don't waste your money on the subscription

    Very expensive (UKP £400, £440 or £600) "accessory" considering it doesn't fully track shots automatically (with 0, 3 or 14 CT10 included) and "stats" gathered are not that revealing. It does however fit within the Garmin Eco System and doesn't (currently) require a subscription plus the battery life is so much better than a premium "feel" product like the Apple Watch.

    I've had this expensive watch for over a year and I wish I could say I love it... But I can't. I had a dated FitBit and wanted a golf watch. I decided to kill two birds with the same Titleist... Unfortunately, though there are some very nice features on the Garmin, it can't compare with some of the FitBit features. Garmin's screen visibility is nearly perfect in both high and low light. It gives a tremendous amount of feedback on your health, sleep rhythms, heart rate and a number of other factors. The way it handles step counting leaves a lot to be desired. You need to have the arm that wears the watch swinging while you walk or the Garmin misses a bunch of steps. I don't even need to put the FitBit on my wrist. It does a great job of step counting while sitting in my pocket. Lately I've also had a bunch of golf related problems with this EXPENSIVE watch that have me a bit steamed up... For instance, today I was standing right next to a green and the Garmin was quite sure I was still 65 yards away. It also grossly misread the distance to at least three other greens from the tee. I used a free app on my phone to bail me out. FREE AP. EXPENSIVE watch... What's wrong with that picture? It's also quite often totally unaware that you've complete a hole, have left the green, and are on the next tee box. This usually isn't a problem because you can press the "pencil" icon at the bottom of the watch to enter your score for that hole. Or... At least you USED to be able to. Apparently a recent update hosed that as well. Can you tell I'm a bit less than enthusiastic about this thing at this point? Don't hide it well, do I? If you're just looking for a golf watch, don't spend any time thinking about this one. If you're looking for a watch that does pretty much everything, this one, crippled as it sometimes is, has to be in the running. I've looked at all other watches that might be able to do all that this one can... and found that there really aren't any. Well... It's an imperfect product, but it is what it is...

You will never use all this can do nor will 99% of golfers use more than distance to pin, front and back of green distance. Buy a good rangefinder and be done.

    Took me just 10 minutes at home to conclude that this watch is absolute garbage... and they have the cheek to demand a premium for additional features to an overpriced product anyway. It's going back.

    It’s not an Apple Watch so why do you insist on comparing to it over and over. I’m sorry about your small wrists.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  Год назад +1

      I think it’s a fair point to make, appreciate the Garmin is a dedicated golf watch, but it boasts a lot of off course functionally, which simply isn’t up to usability of an Apple Watch, which many people will already have or be considering as an alternative. I appreciate your concern over my small wrists, but there’s really no need to worry, I’ll get by, one day at a time.

      @@GolfGuyReviews my point is a negative review for a product you haven’t really tested thoroughly can have a big impact on a product’s sales and perception. I’m an Apple guy, have been since the very first iPhone and am currently on the 13. Their phones are excellent, hardly ever crash or need rebooting, no malware, apps are clean and stay closed when you close them but their watches are a mediocre accessory at best. Sure they are choc full of tons of features, health and sleep tracking, calls, texts, emails, games and more…but their battery life is a day or day and a half at best. What good are all these features if you have to charge it every day. I had an Apple Watch SE 2nd gen and it was barely usable if you wanted to take advantage of all its features. Worst off I paired it with my Arccos system and the watch had 8% battery at the end of my round. Whereas the s62 gives me calls, texts, health and sleep tracking and full golf features with a battery that lasts almost 2 weeks between charges. If you want a nicer screen you can opt for the Epix but that’s $800 but will still give you up to 2 weeks of battery life! I do apologize for the wrists comment, childish and unnecessary.

      Appreciate the apology and the reply but I disagree your assertion I haven’t tested the watch properly. I pride myself on giving in depth and honest reviews, far more so than many of other reviewers I see on RUclips.
      The s62 is a far more accomplished dedicated golf watch with a bang average screen that Garmin call a smart watch, when compared to an Apple Watch which is a far more competent smart watch with a great screen that can offer some limited golf functionality. I’m briefly highlighting that for some who already own an Apple Watch may not see the value in spending another £400 on the Garmin.

      @@GolfGuyReviews not to belabor the point but it seems to me that if you had thoroughly tested the watch you would’ve mentioned that it comes with quite a few built in activities that you can track besides golf like walking, running, elliptical, cardio, strength training and treadmill. Not to mention how many other activities you can add via the Garmin app like yoga, biking, Pilates, HIIT training just to name a few or the other thousands of apps, widgets and watch faces you can add via the Garmin iq app…just saying.

      There's an add-on for controlling more parameters of youtube that I use--has a SUPER HANDY speed up/down feature using the scroll wheel. When someone talks to fast for me, I slow them down by 0.1x increments, if they talk too slow or blather on too much, I crank the speed up. Maybe there's an add-on or app for your device.

      Thanks for watching Jose. I'm sorry if you've come away with the impression that I think everything about the watch is bad, as that's not my opinion. I think this watch has some great unique features but also some frustrating ones, and I'm not convinced it's great value for money, especially for those who already have a good smart watch.
      I read all my comments, as I want ensure each video I make is better than the last. Some people have a different opinion to me on this watch, and that's totally fine. With 95% likes compared to 5% dislikes on this particular video, I stand by my views and am happy with this it.
      Thanks again for watching and commenting.
