I love that the regular rcf, base model, has the sunroof listed as an option, I’d like to think that when someone opts out of this optional sunroof they’ve made a telepathic connection with the engineers that they’ve picked the best rcf configuration available - and it happens to be the cheapest option configuration Lexus left this option in the menu for the 1 out of 10000 buyers who will appreciate this act, reminds me of the small group of engineers that designed the isf, this car has the most soul in the whole class.
comfortable, capable, reliable, it's rare that all these boxes are checked by a single car. that should make it an exceptional daily..... for those who can afford it
Pretty easy to solve this. Buy the base RC-F, do your own suspension and weight reduction, install RR Racing supercharger. Now its faster and lighter than the track edition plus you've probably still spent less money.
I love the design of the track edition, but to be honest, at least for me it feels like a strange compromise. If you want a comfortable, reliable car with an awesome engine, go get the normal RC F and enjoy your heated- and cooled seats. I also really like the TVD, which is, strangely enough, not available on the track edition. On the other hand, if maximum track performance is what you want to go for, the RC F probably isn't the right platform to start with. If you're looking for a track-daily-combination that will last a long time and also don't care much about resulting times or creature comforts, this might be the answer, but that is probably a very niche market.
I toyed with ordering one of these vs an LC500 and IS500. No regrets. I love my LC. I track my moto's so to me tracking ANY car is like wrangling a sumo wrestler around. It seems so odd to track a car over a moto.
If you think of it like a Black Series competitor, it's a bargain. I like it - unique, and will always keep its value as a rare, prized Japanese sports car, And presumably be bulletproof, reliable, and very tunable - though I actually like it better as a collector's car to really respect as something special.
As an RC (350) owner myself, $100k+ for this RC-F, brand new, is insanity. Used is always the way to go. And like others have said, if you DID have $70k+ to spend, I'd much rather go a used LC500 route, or GS-F. Practicality with the same amount of fun.
It's a pretty unique car, seems like a reasonable price on those grounds. It's built like a real bank vault, unlikely to be something you'll only enjoy for 10 years and then screw around with. You'll probably pull this beast out in 20 years and still be good.
It doesn't do anything better than it's competition aside from comfort, and to that point if I'm buying a "track edition" then comfort isn't on my check list. Car is a dud
@@guycha0s380 Agree. This is really for another customer, say an M4 customer who wanted the Lexus reliability, etc. and the extra features (ex. CF brakes).
As much as I like the look and the engine... unfortunately the driving experience, the most important aspect, doesn't sound like it matches the price at all. Especially for something approaching six figures. I'd rather get the standard car and mod it and probably save 10-20k.
I traded my GSF in for a F80 M3CS with DCT… I haven’t looked back and relability hasn’t been an issue. I can’t fathom spending $100k on this RCF - at least the GSF was practical for $60k or less.
I went from an IS250 to an M3 Competition & every single person I know said “oh you’ll regret it those German brands are terrible!!” ..needless to say not a single issue to report, currently at 60k miles & been tuned since day 1. Haven’t even done ignition coils or spark plugs yet.

You can literally make this same argument for any car with a higher spec than its base model equivalent lol. Thing is, most of them aren't over $100k lol

If you need a car to tame Gorilla Jack that's the one; it makes a Viper look tame...I would love so much to see you guys try and drive it, the drive segment would just be 5 minutes of Jack and Mark slack-jawed as they try not to die.
Same, as I said above. I'd rather own an LC500. I think this car is destined to be a waste of money; it's not desirable. At least there are a fairly large group of people who desire LC500s, it's also a limited run car, there are a group of people who find the looks intoxicating, and it has a modern transmission. I don't know a single person who wants this trim(at a 30-40k premium) of the RCF.
I give props to Lexus for building this car, they don't have to do it, but they know that the RC F fans like it. The price is down right stupid, like most of the Lexus line up, but this car will be a great used buy in a couple of years if you can find one, which you probably won't be able to. Not too many people talk about the exclusivity of the F cars. You're not going to see too many of them, that's for sure. Hell, I've NEVER seen another GS F on the road where I live, other than my own, so that's kind of neat pulling up into a Car's and Coffee with something that pretty much no one else is going to have... And I'm fortunate that this thing will last 10 lifetimes since they are built so well. Thanks for the video. I hope AI Mark makes a return soon...
I doubt this will become that collectible. It's not much different than the RC-F, it doesn't do anything better than its competition. It's not even more engaging, other than engine sound, which you can get in a much cheaper Mustang GT. Cars that become collectibles always have something special about them, even if they're objectively worse in performance. If this had a proper manual, it would stand a better chance, IMO. In fact, the transmission is going to be a hurdle for collectible status. The price will probably have a floor, but you likely won't see them fetching a premium...ever.
@@KamikazeSOF2 It's a V8. The last of Japanese V8. That's why. What makes the LFA special when there's so many V10s in the streets? I know it's not the sound, it's the rarity of the model.
@@brianm5753 The LFA is almost unrivaled in its sound. It's widely regarded as probably the top two in the sound department, along with the Carrera GT. It was also a very exclusive vehicle. The RC-F doesn't have any of that going for it. It sounds great, but it's really close to the Coyote, a car that is much cheaper. It being Japanese only makes a difference to a very tiny minority, and not enough to make it collectible, IMO. The track edition of the RC-F isn't that much different, as I said before.
If not much faster or engaging that the regular RCF I don't see the value in this. Just get the regular one and put on your favorite wheels and exhaust and save 10-20K for almost the same experience. Or just get the LC
Great sounding classic V8 car with some impressive long term reliability, but for over $100K?! No thank you. This should not be over $75K loaded. For the MSRP, I think I'd rather have a naturally aspirated C8 Corvette or several other cars. Just my preference...
Man, I hope a redesign of the RC F is in the offing. I was saving to buy a non-track edition since 2018. But then, the car got too outdated to buy, as much as I love it. The IS 500 came along at $20k less and I snapped up a 2022 Premium. But, make the RC F lighter, with latest Lexus Infotainment, rear seat delete, updated interior w/emphasis on luxury, latest LSS+, sleeker exterior, more horsepower and torque, keep the NA engine, better AT...I'd buy that RC F in a minute to stable with my IS 500 FSP.
LFA is pushing boundaries. This is the exact opposite. The RC was Lexus's way to enter this segment with minimal investment. They cobbled together existing platforms (GS front, IS convertible mid-section, IS sedan rear) and existing parts. It was uncompetitive when it launched in 2015 (see Chris Harris comparison to F82 M4 years ago). I appreciate reliability but that shouldn't be the main reason to buy a performance car IMO.
@@The_Stanman lol I would like the imagine he was being sarcastic with the "pushing boundaries" because this vehicle absolutely does NOT do that... but the way he wrote the comment, I think he was serious, lmao

@@Careover it is a quick shifting trans. Is it Porsche PDK fast? Absolutely not, but it is quick. When I had my ISF I was very impressed with the trans. Stock for stock a Supra would win. A stock Supra is not beating a FBO RCF. Idk if that's what you meant by "best" RCF was a FBO one, or just referring to the stock Fuji edition in particular?
@@nickadkins7765 The price to performance for this model is not worth it. The issue is that mechanically speaking, the Track Edition has the same reliable 8 speed as the ISF, GSF, regular RCF and new IS500. The only difference is the software tuning, so this track edition and its differential setup should be the fastest in a straight line, but its still mechanically slow. Remember when the ISF was called the "M3 Killer" back in 2008? fast forward to now and its slow
@@Careover I'm not defending the price. It's purely a collector car in my eyes. I know the ZF is faster shifting, but 1/10th of a second for the Aisin is fast and I will die on that hill. Like I said I owned an ISF and I still consider it fast to this day. Fastest? No. But fast nonetheless.
On my 2000 GS getting the V8 was about a 10% increase over the 6-cyl, to get the V8 here adds about 35% over the base RC. Yes, it comes with more than just the engine, but why not narrow that gap and sell more cars in total.
the LCs transmission is slower and worse from a performance perspective FYI. It only sounds and gives the emotion and character in my view. If it had the LCs Transmission it would actually overheat since the LC has no trans cooler. They dont have that 10 speed in a setup thats comparable to robust nature of the 8 Speed Asin of of yet. One of the many reasons the LC is not a F car. LC is a great car it's just a different tool designed for a different purpose and there's a reason it doesn't have a F on it in its current config. That is all.
These LC comparisons are ridiculous...The only thing in common is the price point. It's unfortunate not many drivers will be able to experience a Fuji/TE and it's full potential. But you and I know the real deal... @@RandenMontalvo
@@kwikfilmsTV Agreed its an odd thing. But it mostly comes from folks that dont know these cars or have not driven them and just going by ambiance or impressions. In reality you throw that 10SPD in a RCF and it would not only be slower than a on temp Aisin it would overheat doing heavy track duty in its highest setting. If i were to state an upgrade for the F cars which are actually designed for duel purpose use, unlike a LC...it would be a new DCT/ZF that would be an upgrade to the Aisin. Both are great cars but have different purposes and should be celebrated for what their lanes are because of their damn good at their intent. Folks dont know but this is still relatively early with Lexus with full F cars. Only less than an handful of cars have earned that designation and with time it will grow. I think we have at least 1 more generation of possibly new F cars with ICE engines or hybrid-assisted engines before we sadly venture into electric performance cars. I love Lexus for what they did with the TEs/Fujis ..truly a treat that even me as a M car lover had to experience and glad to say....totally get it now and just love the car. The track edition is precisely where lexus did NOT do enough, and the IS500 is the perfect sleeper sedan for accountants. You have it all backwards.
I originally considered the LC 500 but I got one of these last year(Matte grey, 6k miles for $74k). I agree that the 100k MSRP is too much but used they can be great deals. It looks good, sounds good, and it has noticeable better power/handling than an LC 500. If you like the LC but wish for a bit more performance, same reliability, V8 and backseats that can hold more than just a kid, this is it. Not worried about a couple tenths faster 0-60 from competitors. You get used to the power in a few months of owning a new car and in this case I would be left dealing with 6cyl Vacuum noises.
I picked up a clean low mile 2016 carbon tvd edition for $40k, and it had rr racing tune and parts and borla exhaust, much better than stock. You would be hard pressed to find a better car at the price I paid forget what they want for this thing at 100k! It’s also important to note these rcf’s have low long term ownership cost and insurance is cheap.
The Lexus version of the F82 CS. These two cars share a ideology. Reduced luxury features and a minuscule increase in hp. Outrageously priced new but not bad on the used market.
Total news to me that Lexus would like to be known as a performance brand. Among their competition I think I would have had then last behind the Germans and even Cadillac.
I’m not gonna lie .. I’m getting tired of cars being written off because they’re not as fast as another car. I have seen this car in person and it’s beautiful. It’s a work of art. The looks of this car is worth the money alone. Obviously, this car is “slower” then competition because it’s an older type of performance car. Lexus has not updated their high-performance F line. Also, lexus has done enough to prove that they can make enthusiast cars. They are no longer “trying”. If I was not a car enthusiast and I was just a normal person, I will completely write this car off because of your review of it.
I didn't clarify in the vid enough, but other cars feel more tactile, have more sense of occasion (even Lexus has the LC which is more exciting on track), or are more practical and usable at the same price or lower. The regular RC-F is 98% of this car for significantly cheaper, but it's just not suited for this role (track) between how disconnected it feels and how slow and disruptive the trans is. My personal pick for this price would be a ZL1 1LE and a hefty insurance policy, or an M3/M4 comp and a stack of paper bags, but I find even the GR86 more fun to be honest, if not as special.
The RCF track edition put down a lap time around Nürburgring of 7:48 with a normal owner with traffic completely stock. Without traffic, the German owner could have gone a 7:42 - 7:43. RCF is still very competitive around a race track even today. Regarding the comparison with IS500, I have driven the IS500 and own an RCF. In a straight line, CarAndDriver achieved something like a 12.3 seconds with it. The IS500 feels much softer and feels markedly different than the RCF. Recently, in one of the car shows, there was a track battle between an RCF and A91 Supra. Both with basic suspension mods and the Supra with a tune. It basically came down to a tie between the cars. The real world is not what people read off the paper. I am not exactly sure what the passenger was there for as he sounded completely clueless.
without traffic over half the times on fastest laps would be significantly improved. 7m 50s isn't particularly impressive, especially for an overweight, $100,000 vehicle.
Ah, you’re obviously new to this channel. That’s “The Intern.” He’s not entirely “useless” per se, someone needs to carry Jack’s clubs when they’ve run out of golf carts and wash and detail Mark’s third ex-wife’s boyfriends car. Now that guy was useless.
@@sly9263 7:48 is with traffic and I am comparing with manufacturer lap times, which are done without any traffic. It is in the hands of an owner who is not a pro race car driver either. I own an RCF and that rigidity due to all of the reinforcements, pays dividends on the track.
I think of the RC-F as a grand tourer, and when I get mine, it's never going to a track. The track edition seems pointless to me. And it looks better in red without the carbon fiber and wing.
100%. You see so many battleship grey cars now, and I think it's a boring color. The flat black wheels look like some teenager bought a few cans of PlastiKote or hot rod primer black and went to town. A set of CF rims would look amazing and lose some unsprung weight.

Best thing is buying a regular RCF, add best bolt on performance parts, then your set!

I honestly don’t think Lexus made this to make money, i think they just wanted make a model to make a statement-- you can go to a track and have some fun while being comfortable and knowing this thing will get you home after the track day
They know this, these types of cars aren’t necessarily to make money but act as a “halo” product for other vehicles in the lineup. Could also say the LFA is another example
@@worldofz00the LFA had an awesome chassis and engine, the trans was not even an afterthought. Debuting such an awesome car with a dated trans when dual clutches were dominating the market. Toyota/lexus make awesome engines but it's like the thinking stops there. They never have the trans to back up there product ( with exception to the 95 mr2 and supra turbo). If the RCF had a ZF trans that would solve a shit ton right there.

The AA80E is an absolute beast with a dual personality. Sharp when you're pushing it, smooth when you're cruising; something that fits a luxury sportcar.
The AA80E shifts faster than ZF at 100 ms too...
I love that the regular rcf, base model, has the sunroof listed as an option, I’d like to think that when someone opts out of this optional sunroof they’ve made a telepathic connection with the engineers that they’ve picked the best rcf configuration available - and it happens to be the cheapest option configuration
Lexus left this option in the menu for the 1 out of 10000 buyers who will appreciate this act, reminds me of the small group of engineers that designed the isf, this car has the most soul in the whole class.
The biggest problem is that you can get a fucking LC500 with a V8 for that price... No one should by a $100,000 RC-F over an LC500.
comfortable, capable, reliable,
it's rare that all these boxes are checked by a single car.
that should make it an exceptional daily..... for those who can afford it
This car is an instant collectible.
as a Lexus employee and being able to do the Lexus driving school at COTA, it had to be the absolute best thing I've ever done!
Pretty easy to solve this. Buy the base RC-F, do your own suspension and weight reduction, install RR Racing supercharger. Now its faster and lighter than the track edition plus you've probably still spent less money.
I'm surprised that huge wing don't make more downforce.
Wished they sell each performance parts separately for a regular RCF.
They do the hood is 10k 😂😂😂😂

I picked up a 23 IS500 last week. I looked at a LC500. I thought they were small. The interior space was not tight. Really nice cabin.
they need a hopped up version of the LC honestly - winglets wings wangs ribs ducts etc
What do you find more value in, things that last or things that don't last?
Worth the price tag for the rarity and uniqueness alone. Full exhaust is all it needs.
Exactly what I was thinking. Its no ordinary car after all.
Ah yes, pay for a titanium exhaust and then replace it
@@zenkoz3158 pretty sure they just meant it needs headers which are the biggest gains on F cars and make the sound much better.

Would be if it weren’t for the price holly jumpin!! Competition at 70-100 gs yeah I’m getting something else.
Well at least it looks better than the new BMWs.
If you think of it like a Black Series competitor, it's a bargain. I like it - unique, and will always keep its value as a rare, prized Japanese sports car, And presumably be bulletproof, reliable, and very tunable - though I actually like it better as a collector's car to really respect as something special.
This car is in no way shape or form a Black Series competitor. Reliable and bulletproof is about it. Not fast or tunable compared to the Germans.
As an RC (350) owner myself, $100k+ for this RC-F, brand new, is insanity. Used is always the way to go.
And like others have said, if you DID have $70k+ to spend, I'd much rather go a used LC500 route, or GS-F. Practicality with the same amount of fun.
Well i think people that buy this car probably make enough where that price isn't really shocking jsut saying :)
Lc500 is a better deal for the money
@@guycha0s380 Agree. This is really for another customer, say an M4 customer who wanted the Lexus reliability, etc. and the extra features (ex. CF brakes).

Lexus is a strage company. All people want is an ISF. The is500 is such a letdown with a shitty trans, no coolers etc
Collectables become collectable because people thought there was better options at the time. I think this is for the Toyota and longevity people
I doubt this will become that collectible.

The RCF, IS500,and LC500 I'd be happy with either one!!! It's to bad the LS no longer has a V8!!!!

If you are looking at an impractical coupe - just go buy a Supra and be done with it.

A special car. Hope it isn't the last of Lexus pushing boundaries like they did with these.
Or perhaps I missed the sarcasm here 😅

These Aisin trans shift quick and will last forever. Doesn't need a ZF in the slightest
@@nickadkins7765 Last forever yes
Shift quick no. Compared to its German cousin the supra, supra will beat the "best" RCF out the water

I think I will keep my LC500
On my 2000 GS getting the V8 was about a 10% increase over the 6-cyl, to get the V8 here adds about 35% over the base RC. Yes, it comes with more than just the engine, but why not narrow that gap and sell more cars in total.
These are nice, and have a lot of character. They will probably hold their value, but not my personal cup of tea. Nice to see a new face on camera!
I have a 2015 RCF stock and it’s relatively the same as the ones today.
Why dont you keep your live streams up past a few days? They are the BEST content you have.
If this weighed around 3500lbs and had a little power bump 500-525hp with the 10 speed transmission from the LC. It would be perfect👌
This is the goal right here.
the LCs transmission is slower and worse from a performance perspective FYI.
People about the RCF Track Edition: BEST CAR EVER IT SOUNDS SO GOOD!!!!
WTF poeple.
What you value more than being fast = design, comfort, reliability and sound as long you are not superslow.
Better than the m4
