Welcome back to Screen Tremble. Eragon fans, fear no more: author Christopher Paolini has officially confirmed the announcement of a new adaptation. Paolini confirmed that "an Eragon television series is in development at Disney+, and I'm attached to both co-write and produce!" before going on to highlight his excitement for the project and his admiration for the team.
With this Disney+ adaptation, Paolini says he is committed to "making sure that this version of Eragon's story lives up to your highest expectation". This comes after the 2006 feature film adaptation from 20th Century Fox, a massive disappointment for fans. In addition to Paolini, executive producer Bert Salke has released a statement regarding the project, directly comparing Eragon to what Disney+ is doing with Percy Jackson, another young adult adaptation: “It’s thrilling to be working with Christopher on a Disney+ adaptation of Eragon. Like with Percy Jackson, 20th and D+ are providing a chance for us to translate these stories to film in the way their millions of fans deserve." In related news, 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Disney+ Series Eyes Early 2024 Release Date. With production for the series now underway, fans of the popular book franchise can rejoice as Percy Jackson and the Olympians are currently eyeing an early 2024 release date on Disney Plus, according to a recent blog post from Rick Riordan, the author of the original novels.

They completly ignored one of the main morals of the books: a Dragon is a person, not an animal
The main difference between a movie and a tv show is a movie has only has a maximum of 2 hours (3 hours for extended editions) to tell a story, whereas a tv show is more spread out which enables them to stay more faithful to the source material
The Inheritance Cycle has 600-700 pages per book and its only 4. That's a lot of content lol.
I'd love a remake. This series deserves one.
I always wondered why the movie got hate because I was 7 yrs old when it came out and being into dragons it was one of my favourite movies. Now I realise a lot of its hate comes from people who read and were fans of the book series which completely makes sense, I guess its failed to deliver book accuracy. I never read them so had no expectation I just enjoyed it for what it is
As a reader, it’s extremely hard not to be disappointed when you watch the movie adaptation of any book. For example, I didn’t really enjoy the Hunger Games movies, not because they were bad, simply because they were way too condensated compared to the books for my taste. But tbf, the Eragon movie really was a disaster. Where Harry Potter or Hunger Games, however compact, manage to keep the spirit of their respective books alive, there was no trace of the spirit of the Eragon books in the movie. To put it simply : you can read the Eragon books as an adult. Whereas the movie is clearly for children. That doesn’t mean it’s bad in itself, that just means it’s not a good adaptation of the book series. The atmosphere and feel are completely different. Eragon as a book feel serious, captivating, sometimes very sad, like a real journey, very Tolkien-esque. 700 pages that would deserve at LEAST 3 or 4 hours of content to do them justice, solely for the first volume. The movie is just too short and nothing like it. But if you enjoyed it as a child, it’s the most important thing 🫶

I’m a big fan of the books . And I really hope they focus on the story instead of politics , but with Disney at the head , I’m really worried for it . However I will stay optimistic !

Also in the books there's the dwarves and elven race which were represented very poorly in the movie. Actually the dwarves race wasn't represented at all. That really triggered me personally cause one of the main races in the story was completely ignored. Also the elves are meant to be a higher more progressed race that is closer to the nature. I didn't get that feeling at all in the movie. And let's not talk about the urgals who are meant to be a beast like race much taller and muscular than humans but in the mobie they almost look exactly like humans.
This story disserves much better representation let's hope Disney will get this one right. I have all best hopes for this.
Hrothgar was shown very briefly in the movie. He is shown as human size and has a staff. It's right when Eragon and Murtagh show up to the Varden.

Honestly the movie is really good IMO one of my all time fav movies from my childhood the CGI was pretty well done after reading the books and watching the movie i understand why people didn’t like it but I will forever love this movie it still holds up to this day
They need to get out of Disney+ we all know they're gonna make things kid friendly despite Eragon being more of a dark fantasy and made for the older teens.
Christopher is going to produce it and write it so I don’t think he will let it go down the same path as before. 🤞

I think it would be very interesting to see this. It just subscribed to Disney plus the other day so I'm looking forward to this. It's my favorite book. In my honest opinion I think it would be great to have the author involved. With the show because he made the book amazing but the 2006 movie was garbage. All the books were pretty good I'm looking forward to it.
I thought it was out of order compared to the books but really good to someone who has not read books I would not have read books if I did not see movie first. I was so disappointed they did not finish the live adaptation of the series it had potential for a part 2 to complete the story and possibly make more side stories

The series is called the Inheritance cycle
They’ll be adapted by books though. So so far most people know the world by Eragon not the Inheritance cycle. We’ll have to wait and see how it’ll be branded though. I hope they use Inheritance but Eragon will be more recognizable to people who have never read the books and only watched the movie.

well for me the original fox movie of eragon was much more high fantasy based on the style and the high fantasy tropes so to me at least i still think it was a good movie even though other people don`t have like it i mean we don`t have to agree with everyone based on what makes a good fantasy movie and not mention this but eragon brought in the second chronicles of narnia prince caspian that also brought game of thrones and in which the hobbit also brought into the 2010s

As a movie about a boy and his dragon, it's "good". As a movie adaptation they completely screwed any chance of sequels. In the movie they had Roran, Eragons cousin, go off to join the Empires army before he gets conscripted. In the books he leaves to work at a Mill to make money to marry his sweethear Katrina, then fights the Empires soldiers and the Ra'zac that show up to capture him, then after Katrina is kidnapped by the Ra'zac. Roran then convinced almost his entire village to travel across the spine, steal a ship to sail to the Varden, join the Varden and become Roran Stronghammer one of the Vardens best. So because of that one mistake in the movie close to half of the contents of books 2-4 go down the crapper. And don't even get me started on how they butchered Angela the Herbalist and didn't even show the Werecat Solembum.
I hope Jeremy Irons reprises his role.

It's DISNEY making the remake, and Paolini is allowed to have control over some stuff and make sure everything is going to be made right.
So yeah, it's going to be an outstanding yes, yes, they're going to make it better.
But the reality we'll have to face is that Eragon might not have a very good run since a lot of readers have either grown up and out of Eragon.

It’s similar to star wars, especially in the first book, but the series really develops it’s own identity from the second book onward.

I get it got hate because it didn’t follow the books. But seriously there’s so much movies and shows that are based off books and went a completely different direction. I just hate when a movie is left on a cliffhanger. Now we’re never gonna see where the story gonna go. People should have kept an open mind instead of crying how it didn’t follow the books. Because the movie wasn’t half bad. It’s way better then all the garbage that’s been coming out in this modern day

So we wont be seeing this until 2030 at least if Walker Scobell is the lead role, he plays percy in the percy jackson series and season 2 of that isn't going to be released until 2027/28.......disney need to find a different actor, they're just going to use Walker for everything now, and honestly i dont see him as a rider type of person, Percy jackson yes......Dragon rider......no......i feel this will turn out like the 2006 film based on casting, disney dont try anymore, theyll use the same actor for everything because its easier than actually looking, auditions etc, they bash ideas together and hope it works......i will just re purchase the books instead, disneys ruined so many of my favourite franchices because theu cba and they have enough money to fail and forget about it all......re purchace books simple enough
