Thanks. It was pure perfection. I had not listened to this song for quite a while and this version is quite new to me. Good music is timeless. Kansas = the ultimate alchemy
It's a beautiful live version, and it also still has that quiet emotional overtone that the studio version has.... Including the build up at the end... Thanks for sharing Linnea!
Thanks for sharing Linnea, such a great version of this song. It's always been one of my favorite vocal performances by Steve and just flows so beautifully!! I love finding gems like this on RUclips!!!
Always loved Kansas Sins mid 70 seventees Steve Walsh one of the most underarter singer of that era, made us prog music stick out When the most exciting new music came from England sorry us but thats a fact!! Kerry wrote the songs but Steve deliverd the soul!, Love from Sweden!,
Truly an awesome showcase vocal for Steve. The solos from Robbie and Kerry are wonderful as well. From a simpler day when these boys had grit. Time has proven to be a cruel mistress. R.I.P Kansas.
+Linnea Skoglund I can appreciate your devotion, but they've been dying a slow death for years; for me, since Elefante. That new guy Platt cannot possibly compare. Without Kerry, Robbie, Dave, and now Steve (again) they're done. Carry-on wayward sister.
Steve is my favourite singer on the planet and in the history of the world, but the band kicks ass live right now. No one can compare, but that's not my point. We can have favourite lineups and all but I'm not gonna say that they're dead when they seem to be enjoying themselves more than ever.
Point taken. Steve being absolutely essential to they're success, it was the content that Kerry offered (and his quest for spiritual enlightenment in the late '70's) that personally appealed to me, and was always the bands true strength. I'm sorry but now they're nothing more than traveling minstrels cranking out rusty relics from the Hurdy-gurdy.
Why isn't this song more popular I have no idea..Steve sounds amazing!!! I still get chicken skin when I listen... Kansas is playing this song on their acoustic set . 2019 ..
Such a cool version of this song. Just stumbled across this as I was looking for other versions of the song. I have the Two For The Show album, but got curious about what other live versions might be out there. The song gets me every time. Thanks for posting!
wow...great rendition....how did you get this...how did you separate live crowd sounds...anyway....looks like your as big a fan of Steve Walsh as I am....at his peek I really believe he was the best male vocalist ever...Steve Perry a close second at his peek...but Walsh never gets the accolades he deserves....sucks....might be one of those things that will take a hundred years or so....look at the old Don Kirshner shows...he was sitting down and belting out the notes....I will subsricbe to you in case you come up with more thanks
+Scott Durrwachter 110% agree, best vocalist of all time, and as you said very underappreciated by the masses which makes no sense to me. In those days he wiped the floor with EVERYONE else. That grit and soul came from somewhere deep for sure! Oh this bootleg has been available for a good while and I didn't have to do any editing at all. Wouldn't know how even if I'd needed to.
I feel Steve Walsh truly has no equal as a male blues/rock singer, prodigious musician & one of the best songwriters, whose songs touch me on a par with McCartney/Lennon, Todd Rundgren, ELP, Peter Gabriel & Joni Mitchell. The average music fan is not classically trained, nor have they written songs & recorded them in a studio. Music should never be a "throwaway" listening experience. There is an interview with Steve in his book wherein he laments how people multitask while listening to music rather than focusing & absorbing the time & labor that went into the CD they are casually enjoying. As a former singer/songwriter/musician; Steve Walsh reduces me to tears, renders goosebumps all over my arms & legs & has endeared me forever with his raw pathos, pain, honesty & humor transparent in his discography & that incredible octave range, vowel inflection & passion filled voice!
Thank you for posting this. Very rare. I’ve seen some of the pictures but many are really great and ones I’ve never seen. How did you uncover this rare audio?
I agree, Jack! This version has the best of both worlds somehow. The quiet shy qualities that the studio version has and also the buildup leading into the last chorus that the TFTS live version amongst others has. I caught two shows in July in my home country (Sweden) and I also caught Steve's last performance of this song in Pittsburgh last year... I'm extremely grateful to have been able to do that.
cool I just connected with my distant cousin in Stockholm via Facebook! Steve had one of the marquee voices in RockHave you heard Kerry's stuff,? have a great weekend Linnea
Yeah I have heard his solo stuff. Kerry has an ability to compose like few others.. And Steve's voice and ability to deliver emotion mixed with what Kerry did was just an unmatchable combination.
@@linneasaoirse Most of my favorites are in there, but Kansas, Styx, Foreigner, Boston, Bryan Adams, etc , should be in, too! Another band that I have a lot of stories from the road :) Good times!
GREATEST SINGER IN THE WORLD ! So much feeling.....amazing Range. LOVE YA STEVE !
Truley, the greatest voice in Rock. THE BEST !
Definitely one of the best rock singers of all time.
Thanks. It was pure perfection. I had not listened to this song for quite a while and this version is quite new to me. Good music is timeless. Kansas = the ultimate alchemy
Cool username, great song !
Yes, one of their masterpieces
I saw Kansas several times when they came to Tulsa, Oklahoma back in the 70's and 80's. I was probably at this show.
Just listening to this now for the first time. Thank you! Love it
Simply Beautiful.
It's a beautiful live version, and it also still has that quiet emotional overtone that the studio version has.... Including the build up at the end... Thanks for sharing Linnea!
I agree... Glad you like it, Len!
A classic. . love it live!
Lonely Wind has always been a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing!

This is amazing stuff! Such a great song and I enjoy the improvising in the song.

Time has proven to be a cruel mistress. R.I.P Kansas.
+Daryl Farley the band's still going strong though, they recently brought back a Hammond B3 on tour for example :-)

Steve's the man what a great band
Too good. This is a great version
Steve just quit this week sadly

RRHOF, where the F are you at? Criminal that bands like this are not inducted yet!
I agree, but they don't matter....Kansas are too good for them
@@linneasaoirse Most of my favorites are in there, but Kansas, Styx, Foreigner, Boston, Bryan Adams, etc , should be in, too!

Wondering...was this at the Brady Theatre?
The info I have is that it was at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Pavilion.
