Yes, a former employee here, not just the burgers, everything is bigger back in the 80s. Food business needs to cope up with the inflation rate that is why to maintain the price of the food, they lessen the size instead. I still remember those days.

I walk past 100 year old signs in downtown Richmond and there’s no record of them online. Everything is becoming apartments..
Born in Philly, and raised mostly in Jersey so right across the bridge. Also my entire family is from West Philly. This was considered sort of a local monument. My grandma even remembers this McDonald’s standing when she was growing up. And whenever me and my parents would come to visit family, I knew we were close to my great grandma and grandma when we passed by this McDonald’s. I started working for UPenn, right across from this McDonald’s, back in 2022 so I’ve literally seen it live through its last days and have been witnessing the new construction. It was a bit heartbreaking even though I don’t even eat McDonald’s but it just felt like the true end of an era. It felt like they took something historical away. I liked how it was such a contrast to all of the other shinier new buildings surrounding it. They’re supposedly going to rebuild it on the ground level again, just in a modernized way with the office spaces built on top, but it still won’t be anything like the original.
They're rebuilding it but it'll have apartments on top for the college students due to reopen later this yr i believe i definitely miss it one of the cleanest fast food places ive ever saw that new owner knew what they were doing
I went and looked where this McDonalds was and I was on the western side of campus. One of the weird things about going to school at Penn was that people never left their little part of campus or the city. When I got my undergraduate degree in a different city we went all over campus and all over the city.
@TADC534 it’s a terrible place to work, its terrible for the economy, the environment, the community, it’s bad for your health, they treat their workers like shit and pay them garbage. They’re like the epitome of evil capitalism (capitalism at it’s worst) I have no problem with free market but I do have a problem with the evil, greedy “people” who run corporations like McDonald’s.
@TADC534 also if you eat it then it’s not-so-slowly killing you. I also hate the fact that all they do for advertising is lie. Everything’s supposed to be healthy now but you know it isn’t. We all just accepted that this evil is a huge part of our society and that’s fucked dude.
