To help the victims, this is a local organization that I saw out there helping in the mountains: You can donate here to Samaratin's Purse: www.samaritanspurse.org I made this video to raise awareness & donations for the local organizations. I will be donating the proceeds of this video to the local organizations. I chose not show the 200+ vehicles I searched in the rivers downstream of towns or the locals I spoke with, so the video had a lot of driving & may come across as just driving around, but it is important to me to show for the above reasons. I drove 2,000 miles across the country to attend an event in Virginia and visit my family in the North Carolina/Tennessee/Georgia tri-state area - I grew up in these Appalachian mountains and spent half my life here paddling the whitewater rivers in these hills, it was devastating to see so many mountain towns and communities destroyed. Because of road damage and lack of access, I was not able to meet up with a rescue/recon group that I was trying to help. Afterwards I was not able to get to an area where I was trying to search for someone that had been swept away in their house into a canyon I used to kayak that I knew well. I began searching rivers downstream of towns for vehicles that potentially needed recovery missions. Finally I ran across a bridge I didn't know was out trying to get to my father's house in the mountains. I was very glad to have not found anyone in the vehicles I searched. Hurricane Helene has absolutely destroyed the Western North Carolina (and Eastern Tennessee) communities. Towns are obliterated, homes gone, people & pets missing, and the communities are in need of help in all manners. There are a lot of areas that are difficult to get into (that are in need of help) and access is for locals only in many areas, primarily because of the road damage. If you'd like to help in person, contact one of the local volunteer and charity agencies (such as Samaratin's Purse) for more information and to show up in person to help. From what I saw, donations to small local community relief organizations are recommended over larger organizations. Thank you for your support everyone and stay strong! Weather is supposed to start cooling off this week, so they are in need of jackets/propane/fuel/sleeping bags/headlamps and supplies to get locals through the cold weather to come.
Don't say anything against people who are "not doing anything " or "just going about their daily lives ". Etc. Being there after a disaster is super dangerous etc and not easy. Many ppl are helping in their own way or not and that's ok. Do YOUR thing.
Thanks Timmy, Your A Great Guy❤ I live across the line from N CAROLINA IN TENN.. WE ARE GOOD ONCE OVER THE MTN. THE OLD ROAD IS OPEN. I SEE MY DR. IN ASHEVILLE.TSLK TO HIM YESTERDAY AND ITS AWFUL L. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP❤ 🙏🙏🙏
@@eatyerveg I apologize, didn't mean for it to come across that way - what I meant was it seems like a lot of folks weren't aware of the severity or magnitude of the situation despite living very close.
You were in my county. I work for the sheriff’s department in Rutherford county NC. My first post 16 years ago was in chimney rock. It’s sad to see this place devastated by the floods.
Went to Hendersonville few days after the hurricane hit. Drove in from Moore County, NC. Drove my pickup with bottled water. Drove 40 and 26. All I saw was civilian vehicles pickup trucks, some pulling trailers all of us loaded with various supplies. On the start Harris Teeter paid half. Gets better as we are loading up the cases of bottle water a young lady came over said to my wife are you going to the mountains? Wife said yes. Then she asked if she could pay for gas. Kinda told her we was full. But then she said I’m paying for the water. Was amazing. We didn’t ask. We have some outstanding people here still. Bless those people, especially the young woman that gave from the heart. We still have a lot of good people and thank you all.
Thank you for coming down and helping out! Me, my wife and son met you at the park and ride in Yancey County just outside of Burnsville this past Sunday. It was great to see you and your truck after watching you on RUclips all this time and it definitely brightened our week afterall we had experienced
We are still praying for you all 🙏 know you are not forgotten all over the world. My family in England told me they were hearing about it on their news as well. I'm so glad you had a great moment with @TruckHouseLife 🙌🏻 keeping you in my daily prayers from Massachusetts. 🙏
@@TruckHouseLife Bro you're incredible. I'm Canadian live on Vancouver Island and wish I was physically able to help unfortunately I'm terminally sick but I did donate what I could afford. What can anyone tell me about up THE CANE RIVER OUTSIDE OF BURNSVILLE ,NC I used to have a homestead up there up there up against the CANE RIVER CLUB Im sure that road is gone , I use to have a swinging suspension bridge across the river , if anyone knows about area please let me know
What's ironic is that where you pulled over in Boone was under water. Many lost everything in that area. I helped clean apartments out just down the street from where you are. I work for Samaritan's Purse. We are local. Thanks for shouting us out! Safe travels, friend.
Your video was so eye opening as it showed all the devastation. I was literally shouting at you through the t v to BE CAREFUL!!! The roads were so dangerous.
Thank you! Samaritans purse volunteers have been everywhere I’ve showed up to help…you all are angels and I thank you! God bless each and every one of you and your organization ❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸
I’m too old now to be of much help physically so Samaritans Purse is my go to….they did work here after our flood that inundated our house. When I give to them I don’t worry how it will be used.
Samaritan’s Purse is a great organization. Any money that goes to them goes to where it is needed. They were a big help with flooding here in Eastern Ky.
I cannot recommend any organization more highly than Samaritan's Purse for support in this disaster. This is in their yard. They have a proven track record and do not have a lot of over-paid executives siphoning off funds at the top.
I’m watching you drive through my “neighborhood “. I got out a week ago. My place is on rte 9 in a part of Black Mtn known as Broad River. Totally destroyed. I used to work at the Brewery in Chimney Rock. Most terrifying experience . Trapped between a landslide and trees, water came up so fast. Literally ran for my life with my two dogs and a bag of “papers”. In Tennessee now at my brother’s place. Gonna be a while before I can go back. Traumatized .
It can take several days before the shock gradually fades. I'm thankful you were spared, & have your kind brother. You'll come thru this. Thank you for sharing your story.
North Carolina state trooper watches your channel. Florida teacher here. I also watch your channel - every episode!! Thanks for all you do. You’re an inspiration.
Thanks for showing this, as a Katrina survivor, I understand how important it is to get the word out. The United Cajun Navy was taking horses and mules up into the mountains there, trying to get help to people. How do you get shelter to those people, when you can’t get equipment up the road, and it’s getting cold. It’s hard for people to understand, if they haven’t been through something like this. Thanks for helping get the word out. It’s more important than ever.
Drones my grandmother in law was getting supplies via a drone it would come with a note she would write down what she needed and it would come in on the same drone she was completely cut off on all sides we dont know who it was but who ever it was they saved her life
Thanks for caring. It has devastated this whole region. Im across the state line in Greene County TN. We were hit hard abd lost some homes and bridges. Hundreds of loved ones were swept away. Erwin TN is across the line from Asheville and is gone. It's totally heartbreaking. It will be years or decades before this area recovers. Thanks for the help.
I am so so sorry for your unimaginable losses. I pray for everyone there to have strength and courage and emotional recovery. May everyone continue to be safe.
Greene County here too. We're actually in Chuckey and a ways away from the River so no damage here. It's just heartbreaking to see our county devastated!!
The devastation caused by Helene and now Milton is all over the Canadian news, and here on utube. We truly hope everyone affected gets immediate assistance and aid from FEMA and all the charitable organize like Samaritans Purse. So very sorry this has happened to our American neighbours and friends. 😢
Thank you, Tim, for helping those in their time of need in NC. You have a heart of gold. I'm so happy I found your channel years ago. I go on almost every adventure with you. God Bless you and be safe ❤
Thank you for coming to help brother. Asheville NC is where I was born and raised. My self and the communities you visited and volunteered truly appreciate people like you.
Tim it was a Honor to meet you At the expo east Friday and when you said told me your intentions to go to North Carolina to help in the rescue efforts & not knowing how bad it is there? Now watching your video you gave us more insight then CNN Thanks Tim your a real Patreon 🇺🇸
Good to meet you too Daniel. I really didn't want to leave expo, literally drove 2000 miles across the country to attend it but I didn't feel like I could hang out with this going on where I grew up paddling.
@TruckHouseLife you didn't do anything....you were literally a leaf peeper of disaster. I saw not one physical activity. If my friends were stuck like you claim I'd hike 100 miles just to get them. This was purely a RUclips stunt. Shame on you, but don't worry your supporters will back you up with "he's bringing awareness"😂😂
Unbelievable damage, you cant fathom it and you only saw a small portion of it! Glad you could go help. May God keep you safe in all that you’re doing. God Bless those residents that they can get through this and back to their lives! Such a sad state of affairs!
Awesome job Tim. Im grateful you didnt video the 200 plus searches you did in cars for bodies. People dont realize you didnt just drive around. You actually were boots on the ground searching for people. Many blessings to you for the kind heart you have.
I live in the Maggie Valley area…the devastation is unbelievable! Great job traversing those “trails” that use to be roads! Thank you for caring! Samaritans Purse has been phenomenal..glad you mentioned them…blessings ❤
@@njmommy609 yes it is, several of those guys live locally…and are very well known lol..the Valley even has a festival in early fall (won’t be happening this year) where many of the guys from the show hang out with the locals…sharing “drinks” and entertaining folks with their stories. Maggie is absolutely a beautiful place …we had storm damage and some flooding in town especially along the numerous waterways in the area…but many of us got lucky with minimal damage to our homes and businesses…other neighboring towns like Clyde, Waynesville and Canton sustained much more severe flooding . It’s heart breaking what Helene did to our beautiful Mountain towns and communities. ♥️
Maggie Valley. Been going there since I was 15 yrs old, and I am 76 yrs old now. Took my new wife there in 1975 and that is her favorite place also. Don't know when we will get back again. We were fixing minor damage from Hurricane Milton today, and it will be awhile before the tourist roads in NC are passable again. Raised in Rockingham NC but in Florida now. God bless you all and I have already picked out 2 organizations I am donating to in your area.
Hey Timmy, I live about an hour away from Asheville just across the line in Upstate SC. We had some serious damage in our area too, but compared to what is happening in Western NC we are doing great. I’m 47 years old and have never seen anything close to this storm. God bless you for going to help. I’m absolutely heartbroken for the people who are suffering from this. The devastation is unfathomable. Town literally gone. Roads washed away. So many people missing. Interstate 40 will be closed for possibly 2 years. Almost everything has to be rebuilt. It is the saddest thing I have ever seen.
Why do people feel the need to jump in the comments and “suggest” what other people do with their time, money, resources, and/or energy? Who the hell are you and what have you specifically done to help our area? I’m simply asking. I’m from this area (born, raised, and currently reside) and this storm destroyed everything and if it were not for our own communities helping one another, there’d have been little to no help, but if you’re so concerned about and full of bright ideas, you have what 12,000 subscribers? Why don’t you donate a week’s worth of revenue to Samaritan’s Purse or to one of the local churches along Swannanoa River, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, or Black Mountain? I mean no disrespect; however, put your money where your mouth is???
Prayers are going out to everyone that was affected by the flood and mud slides. Thank you for showing me. I live in Pa and didn’t really realize the damage that has happened. It is so sad. I’m sorry that people lost everything. Take care. Prayers do work!!!
Very selfless decision! Thank you for filming it. I know haters are gonna say shit but Tim you are an awesome dude! And I’m glad you are making people aware by documenting the devastation.
Thank you, I don't think I've ever had so many hateful comments. @@TruckHouseLife those people don't truly follow what you do my friend. You got a bad ass truck and you go on adventures, but you channel is actually an inspirational documentary channel. We would never get to experience most of these things that you share if it wasn't for your hard work. This is the screen that sorts the rocks, let them little ones go through the real people will stay and your communiwill grow stronger as a result. Much love from southern Illinois. Thank you
@TruckHouseLife I hear you Timmy. My post is swarming with tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists that aren't from here and have no idea what is going on and what people are doing. It is truly sad how everything devolves into some political garbage. We are all doing what we can to help each other. No one cares what organization someone draws a paycheck from.
❤ Thank you so much for all you did in showing this video. I am from Black Mountain, and the devastation is so far reaching. It is truly the whole western part of the state of North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. Anything near a body of water of any kind had massive flood. Samaritan's Purse and Operation Blessing are the only outside groups I saw. All other help came from people of faith and caring from all over. FEMA is here but on a very small scale. I will say we have had line crews from all over. Truly touching! So much has been done that I am amazed but this is for the long haul. We need to rebuild now! There is so much to be done!!! Plan your relief work and mission trips here! We will roll out the welcome mat! ❤💪💜🙏
Shout out to Samaritans Purse!!! Most honest organization to donate to and they go all over the world helping people! God bless all of them and prayers for all affected!!
It’s unbelievable how a hurricane can effect people inland so much. I used to live in the NC. Tragic. Much love to all people undergoing these circumstances.
You are amazing, I had tears knowing you drove to the damaged area to help out. I'm praying for the people that were in the path of this storm, I'm praying for you because of people like you that went to help. God Bless you an all the volunteers that gave their time to help those in need. Your drone trying to find lost people along the river beds. I'm so blessed to be a fan to your video's when I saw you heading to the damaged area all I could say was WOW. Thank you for your help an support. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
First off, thank you for showing your subscribers the severe damage done to this area. Unknown to many, we had several days of torrential rain that weakened the soil and filled the banks of creeks and rivers in the days before Helene hit therefore causing a double whammy. We live in Polk County, NC and it was one of the worst hit counties in NC, but this damage also went into SC, TN and VA. The greatest blessing of all of this is the community of people that live in these mountains and still treat others like family. Luckily for us, while we were without power for 8 days, we survived mostly intact. Samaritan's Purse is a wonderful organization that thank you for mentioning them specifically. We will survive and we will prosper once again because these people are Mountain Strong.
We stayed in Black Mountain a year ago. It heartbreaking to see all the destruction. Samaritan’s Purse came to our area after Hurricane Michael 6 years ago. They had equipment and manpower in our area for months. They are a top notch organization.
Timmy, I love you passion to help out, I want to say the world needs more people like you, but we know there are many like you who are helping as well. Thank you and everyone else like you. Even if you may feel like you didn’t fully use your skills to help to the fullest, you should take a lot of pride in the fact that any of the first responders or locals that recognized you - you really raised their spirits by being there. You may not realize the impact that has, but it’s not small. Well done.
Welcome back to the south. It was supposed to come right on thru NW GA. Yeah it is a mess everyone with the power companies working non stop for a few weeks now. It is a mess in Augusta and worse in NC. Thank you for getting out the awareness for your southern family.
Thank you for bringing reality to the situation. I live in swannanoa and have been following you for idk at least 4 years. I mean, at this point just got power yesterday, but water from what hear is weeks out. It's way worse than what the media shows as you see. Life as we know it is over! Who knows when some kind of normalcy will be back. I'm guessing months. Anyways, thank you!
They are starting to shadow ban them too I noticed today. I can’t find half the ones I previously saw. Now the ones from the media that shiws nothing, are being oushed forward. Interesting 🤔
I didn’t see anything being delivered, assisting in recovery, working with or helping in an emergency. I like the channel for what it is, van life with empathy.
Oh my God. So sad. This is the best podcast that I have seen showing the horrible devastation. I just can't imagine what these people are going through. I have been thru several hurricanes in my life. We had power within a week. I live in Biloxi, Mississippi, 1 block from the beach, which is a part of the gulf. God bless you for going to help in any way you can. I haven't finished watching so I hope you locate your friends. God bless everyone who is living through this. 😢😢🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇲❤
Thank you for coming and helping and documenting. The first town you was doing drone shots of the ingles and river is where I was born and live and it’s heartbreaking seeing where I grew up like that and the rest of the state I live in such bad shape.
Thanks for coming to help. I’ve followed your channel for a long time. I work ems in this region, we definitely need all the help we can get. Thanks again!
I live about an hour from Asheville so sad to see the surrounding counties around us devastated by the storm. We patroned the businesses and restaurants quite often in Asheville, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the storm. Thank you and everyone else for coming so far from home to help out and those that are helping out in general. We had damage to our area as well, but nothing compared to the areas you have been in.🙏🏽💝
Thank you for helping, we are sure hurting here in East Tennessee, we were in fear of the local Nolichucky dam collapsing. Thank the good Lord above he saved us from that catastrophe. So thankful our family, neighbors and residents of our country are coming together to help.
Went to the edge from Polk county TN to Canton NC last Saturday..Dropped a load of water, and food supplies..Wish I could've done more, but had to do something...Praying for you all..🙏God bless yall
It’s crazy - here in California we sent two rescue teams from my home town the day after it hit but the devastation is not getting out to people on the main news. Thank you Tim for showing us what is - it’s heart breaking !
I hope you don't take the haters to heart Tim. I know from watching you for the last year or so that you were not just filming for your channel. You wanted to check on the people and places that you grew up around. You left the Expo to go and help. I know you filmed devastation in hopes of getting info and donations flowing in. Bless your heart Tim. Your core of fans know better. I sure hope your friend is found and is healthy. I know you didn't get to where you wanted, I know your heart is in the right place. Please don't let the nastiness get to you. Hope your Dad and his beautiful cabin are alright. Blessed be Tim. ❤😊
He left to help but what did he do to help? If my friends are stuck 50 miles in the mountain I'm hiking to get them. This guy is a leaf peeper of disaster and isn't doing a thing to help. ANYONE can ride around and record to "bring awareness." I'd love one example from this video where he helped people out?
Tim you're an awesome guy. What a sacrifice you made ,you left the Expo to help people in need. Brought tears to my eyes, a faithful Canadian follower from Sherwood Park AB. Canada Prayers to all those affected by both hurricanes.
Hey Tim, saw your truck in Ellijay on 10/11. It looks much cooler in person. Glad you came down to help the hurricane victims. This will be a long term recovery for them.
I felt the same i felt so terrible when our power finally came back on i felt guilty for taking a shower and lying down to go to sleep! The destruction is MASSIVE !!!! Thank you for doing all you can
Timmy Our friend, the maker of the Kimberly stove you have, is out near Ashland... Thank you for sharing the area with us. Now we know. Prayers to everyone.
Thank you for helping our people out here in North Carolina. I wish so desperately that I could go, but I cannot. I have responsibilities with my kids and family here, but I wish you all the luck that you can go your way to help out these people. May God be with you and help you along with your journey. I cannot put in the words how great this is of you to go and help these people out.
This is simply shocking. I live in the piedmont of NC just beyond the mountains and I am familiar with most of WNC. It will takes years just to get the roads restored. It will require significant engineering in places where river courses changed. Many of these areas were served by marginal roads to begin with. Lots of hairpin turns that a school bus could barely negotiate. Some folks are gone and may never be missed or found. Mountain folk in some areas are out there because they want to be off grid and left alone. Hopefully, most of them were able to at least get up above the sudden flooding. Kudos to THL for even venturing down some of those roads. I want to go up and see how bad it is but that would be selfish unless I took supplies to bring relief and got out of the way asap. They don't need any unnecessary traffic or folks to add a burden to limited supplies. Thanks again to THL for taking these vids and posting them. It is eye opening.
I live between the Hickory area and the Boone area, and I got to say I did not expect to see a video with you so close to us. We got lucky and only had a few days of no power in my area, but I feel bad for the people further up into Western Carolina. My mother and I have enjoyed watching the videos you make for quite some months now and it really warms our heart to see you coming out here to help out the ones in need and show people what the news isn't showing. Thank you so very much. ❤
Yeah I was going to be negative honestly about the lack of actual help, but his images may get people to donate and come actually physically help those in desperate need.
@@traviscarrolloutdoors9580 like I said, bringing the images to a wide audience really helps people understand the devastation that was caused. As long as him being there and filming did not hinder the rescue and repair procedures or risk him being in danger then I don’t see anything wrong with it.
@@Jen-K-2024 like I said…. Regardless of he was boots on the ground helping or using his drone to capture footage to share with his viewers, it is accomplishing something. Bringing us those images will help open people’s eyes and hopefully create extra donations. As long as him being there wasn’t hindering the ongoing rescue missions and rebuilding efforts then there’s no issue with doing what he did.
Timmy is truly such a selfless person. Going all the way down there to help! I think it would be great if he would donate all the money he makes on this video to help people in North Carolina. It was such a bummer watching him drive by donation locations and not help but maybe it was because he was en route to a better place to go help. I’m hoping he’s made some money off this video so he can help the communities affected by this storm.
I am from Black Mountain and now live in Kissimmee, Florida. We just kicked out from Milton. But my heart is broken for my home. All of my relatives are accounted for but still haven’t heard from childhood friends. Thank you for helping Timmy. You are a good man.

Dude, everyone knows you. Over 500k and you’re a rock star. I wish you could have helped more. I did the same thing in Ft Myers, tried to help but couldn’t get close. So we just tried to provide as much supplies as we could. Just this channel providing awareness is a massive help.

God bless you and the woman who paid for the water. And God bless anyone who is helping with the victims of the hurricanes
She was so nice. There are still so many good people out there helping each other during the tough time. Glad that you guys are alright

Yes, they are amazing and based in Boone NC. Been supporting Samaritans Purse for years. Boots on the ground for the long haul recovery!
I cannot recommend any organization more highly than Samaritan's Purse for support in this disaster. This is in their yard. They have a proven track record and do not have a lot of over-paid executives siphoning off funds at the top.

Perhaps donating all the revenue from this video would be a good way help these communities!
And what are you donating?
He is if you read his pinned comment from 2 days ago! Please read :)
@@2AFARXDEUXThey have 127,000 subs, not 12,000! I hope they donate, along with Tim!

Thank you, I don't think I've ever had so many hateful comments. I wish people would read the video description, I'll repaste it here:
I made this video to raise awareness & donations for the local organizations. I will be donating the proceeds of this video to the local organizations. I did not show the 200+ vehicles I searched in the rivers downstream of towns or the locals I spoke with about needing help, so the video had a lot of driving & may come across as just driving around , but it is important to me to show.
I was not able to get to an area where I was trying to search for someone that had been swept away in their house into a canyon I used to kayak that I knew well (the roads were too damaged). I grew up in these Appalachian mountains and spent half my life here, it was devastating to so many mountain towns and communities.
Weather is supposed to start cooling off this week, so they are in need of jackets/propane/fuel/sleeping bags/headlamps and supplies to get locals through the cold weather to come.

@@traviscarrolloutdoors9580 like I said, bringing the images to a wide audience really helps people understand the devastation that was caused. As long as him being there and filming did not hinder the rescue and repair procedures or risk him being in danger then I don’t see anything wrong with it.
