Nicely done, Civivi. I'll be putting one in my cart until payday. I have the outstanding Civivi Fixed Elementum with gorgeous contoured G-10 scales and a 10Cr15CoMov blade with leather sheath. A gentlemen's fixed blade. Looks and feels like a premium WE blade. Great video, as always!
I've been carrying mine for nearly a year, removed the bulky belt clip and replaced it with an ulti clip slim.. love how slimline it is, only complaint for me is the handle is alil slippery
The ring ensures the knife will remain with you in your hand when your fine motor control takes a dump with an adrenaline dump or when knocked to the ground or grabbed when attacked. Rings serve a great purpose with a device that can easily be turned against you if you lack strength or training.
When it comes to rings on blades there are certainly two schools of thought and based on two areas of experience with users. The pro school of thought is as you say, with a benefits of the ring, and the con school of thought is that when an opponent attempts to wrench the knife from your hand fingers get broken and lost - reference Ed Calderon's School of Fighting arts "Libre" within his "Ed's Manifesto." Personally I have a balanced approach, having been with the Filipino & Indonesian martial arts perspective (Karambit) since the mid '80s, and with Chinese ring knives before that. Basically what works for you is going to be what works for you, but it should be tried and tested before cementing one's focus entirely in one philosophy. Basically for EDC work I have no qualms about having the ring... Thanks for your comments for watching!
@@OGBladeReviews Very insightful response, but as an amateur myself, in a self-defense life or death situation I would rather *maybe* lose my finger than *maybe* lose my life no? But of course I understand that some retired Special Forces wouldn't be as afraid of losing the knife like me, it depends on what you look for and are capable of doing. Just that the probability math seems like an obvious pro for the ring.
@@coles.1524 They are both good looking knives with good steel. I went with Piranha because the blade length appeals more to me. I also feel good about supporting a Veteran and his USA made knives. Either way, good choices...buyer's preference. I already carry quite a few EDC tools so real estate is limited
Over here from Tactical Tavern. I laugh at the fashion industry comment as I have knives I'd EDC with jeans. but also more fancy ones that would wear with a suit. Always gotta have a knife, no matter the occasion.
They're all different animals and with ergos being first in line he really have to put it in the hand to find out. If you don't like this one or the Cabox there are a number of other Kizer fixed blades that might appeal to you, but no need to get stuck on a brand anyway... 👍
I was liking it until you said the price. That’s a hard pass. I think I’m gonna try and get the CJRB hyperlie. I really like joe flowers and his designs are very useful.
Profiles a bit different. This one is significantly taller in the blade and shorter with a downward cant of the blade axis. If you look at the tops CUT 4.0 which is older than either of those knives you'll also see some resemblance. One knife is always going to look like another.... 🤔🗡️👍

Thanks for always giving a good trustworthy opinion. “ this old sword back again , once again “ 👍
A very cool design. Great video 👍

I found a cool knife. It is a Fred Perrin Street Beat. It is not the Spyderco model. It is a custom version made by Fred Perrin himself!
I'm aware that those exist. Very cool purchase! 👊🗡️👍
I really like that one. Love the handle scales too. I might have to get one. You're gonna end up costing us money man 😉
😁🗡️👊
Dammit now I wanna buy this , it between this and the new 10v kizer harpoon full size , what say you?
Don't know much about the 10V, so would depend upon weight use, blade profile and intended use
I'll stick with the TKell Nightstalker.
Good choice! Tim makes great blades! 👍🗡️👊
Just pre-ordered the Piranha
Yup, yup! 👊
Tim's the man
Well it’s double the cost of the midwatch. It better be better

Thanks, it's one I wanted to like, but feels too small & light for my uses ... Thanks for watching! 👍🗡️
If it's anything like the Kizer cabox it probably sucks

N690 = Basically, 440C Stainless steel.
Close, but different enough to have it's own name. The cobalt does seem to separate it from 440. The info is out there... 🗡️👍
Your Pinky goes in the ring
Yes, but not a natural action for me, and also makes repositioning awkward....
That looks like a knock off of Tkell knives nightstalker

Kinda like the blade shape but not a fan of the ring.
👍🗡️👊
