  • My first visit to this railway while taking a short break in Somerset was well worthwhile and enjoyable.
The opening and closing shots were filmed near the end of this 2.5 mile line near Mendip Vale while en route to/from Cranmore where the rest of the action was filmed during the afternoon and includes much shunting, propelling and repositioning moves.
The lines resident loco's seen here are....
    GWR 0-6-2T 5637
    and
    Ivatt 2-6-0 Class 2MT 46447
Barclay 0-4-0ST 1719 'Lady Nan' was also working in the shed yard on 'Driver For A Tenner' trips but is not featured.

It is a lovely location Bob, we only had about three hours 'stopover' as we were heading further south so couldn't explore much. Glad you enjoyed it, Regards, Brian.

Thanks Brian for resurrecting happy memories of a visit to lovely Cranmore six years ago. In addition it's great to see the memorial to David Shepherd. By the way 5637 has a very un- Great Western sounding whistle! Kind regards Alan

It is lovely there Alan & I look forward to going back sometime. Sadly I forgot to get shot's in the new waiting room adjacent which is also dedicated to his memory and features some of his artwork. I agree about the whistle though lol. Regards, Brian.

An enjoyable watch Brian. It looks a great little line, and the weather appears to have been on your side! Cheers, Rob

Thanks Rob, yes it was well worth our visit although we didn't get to ride or explore it fully. The weather was indeed kind to us .. Cheers, Brian.

Enjoyed your video Brian, very good planning.

Glad you did Mike, the planning was nearly a disaster as a section of the A37 south of Bristol was closed so a lot of diversions slowed our progress to Cranmore. The opening shot was based on a rapid re-think with the clock against me and not familiar with the location lol. Cheers, Brian.

Thanks Jamie, glad you enjoyed it. Sadly time didn't permit more exploration & covarage which is why no doubt John Hillman found it boring lol. Cheers, Brian.

Very nice and unhurried filming although I would have appreciated some trackside information?

Obviously I'm pleased that you enjoyed this video but I'm not sure how much information you feel was missing. I spend a lot of time filming & producing these videos & add as much info as I feel is necessary ...... Obviously I cannot please everyone!!

@@SYKAROST As "Railway Emotions" do at the start of their videos they tend to display a map showing the location of the line and the names of stations to be visited - I'm sure viewers would like to know where they are in the UK should they wish to plan a visit. Cheers, Dave.

I actually live in Canada but originally from South Wales, born by the GWR Eastern Valley line. Not a photographer just a long time rail fan.I enjoy more variety, and have visited the West Somerset Railway several times. Keep making the videos, they bring back many happy memories.

Fair enough John, sorry the WSR was not an option this time as it hadn't re-opened for the season. I agree that there was some repetition at the ESR but with only two trains in operation the best I could do was vary the viewpoint!!

No need to apologise, I notice you don't actually produce anything yourself so I cannot make a comparison so I suspect you might be a photographer? lol.
