@@kennkart Sadly, it's different. Two different developers created the two different apps. Bimmerlink can do things like open the exhaust valve, register batteries and a few other options that Bimmercode won't do.
The Bimmerlink app failed to register a new Champion battery in my 2014 320i that was an exact replacement for my original BMW battery that was discontinued. It coaxed me into buying the "Pro" version of the app when you try to register the battery, only to fail once I paid my money. After a half-hearted back and forth of "try this" with the developer (e.g. disconnect/reconnect battery), he determined that "sometimes" BMW ECU doesn't throw back data codes that he can programmatically deal with, so the app just pumps out a generic "You cannot register this battery. Contact developer" error message. A complete waste of my time. Several other reporting functions do not work properly as well. He did promptly credit me. upon request.

Just wanted to say thanks for saving me $174.50CAD (I'm inToronto). I just changed my battery including registration on bimmerlink using this video. The only snag I had was the alarm going off when I disconnected the Negative. I had to swap batteries quickly so I didn't disturb the whole street. What could I have done to avoid this?
@@ThicGarage Hi, I'm wondering if you have any diy suggestions for a completely dead car. No electrical power, no start, no crank, NOTHING. Had to open the doors manually and the key fob batteries are good. As you can see from my earlier mesg I just changed the battery. I'm wondering what/why this happened. The battery I put in is a brand new BMW battery. Any suggestions is appreciated!
If there still is no power and all connections are tight, then the fuse box could have a short causing the power to revert back to the battery.if the starter engages, then the ignition switch is failing or the main wire that connects to the battery is a set of components on a circuit board is failing . That may be what's going on
Here is another option. The issue is the cables attaching the fuse box are bad and corrode causing the connection to drop. This causes the complete loss of power but when you go to the battery all is fine. The way you confirm is next time this happens, open glovebox, remove fuse panel, grab the fuse box and shake it. If power comes back it is this issue. The correction used to be to replace fuse box and power cable to it. Now there is a cheaper solution where they cut the power cable near the fuse box and reattach. The issue is the cables attaching the fuse box are bad and corrode causing the connection to drop. @@PatsGarageOnline i think the app for android. Is bimmercode. Logo looks the same tho.
Thank you for sharing your experience. This is the first time I have heard of this issue. Glad they were able to refund you.
Thank you John Stamos
😂
You planning on switching to the updated M steering wheel in the future? if you like it, it would be interesting to see how to change it and code in the Paddle shifter. Love the Vids!
Thank you! Would be nice to upgrade down the road. Have other upgrades on the list I still need to complete first.
ThicGarage 👍👍👍 Cant wait to see what you do with it. so far all the mods you’ve done have been tasteful!
Thanks for putting this video together, well done! Only complaint is too many popup ads, not sure if you have control over this.
If you are paying 13$ month for a premium version then no adds.
My f30 battery only charges to 63% now, so I'll replace it just before next winter.
How do you see the current battery charge level?
Just wanted to say thanks for saving me $174.50CAD (I'm inToronto). I just changed my battery including registration on bimmerlink using this video. The only snag I had was the alarm going off when I disconnected the Negative. I had to swap batteries quickly so I didn't disturb the whole street. What could I have done to avoid this?
That’s great! Glad we could help! I just disarmed the car before disconnecting battery and then removed it. My alarm didn’t go off.
@@ThicGarage That makes sense lol.
I replaced mine and now the car won't start
Thx👍🏻
Nice video and helpful but in my opinion after cost and work I think let bmw do it cause after all of that u won’t save much money from bmw do it for u ,specially it will take awhile for a battery ran out ! But I luv the ur video though !!!✌️🤙
In my case the dealer wants $307 for the battery and $299 to install and register. Same spec aftermarket battery costs $195. Even after buying Bimmerlink and connector, I can save $300 and now have Bimmerlink to diagnose any future error codes.
I guess that will restore the Drivetrain Malfunction.. I haven’t changed my battery in 5yrs
It can't be done unless you purchase the advance Bimmerlink app for $34.95
Just finished, took less than 20 minutes.
gary vee of cars
Poor explanation but how to register the battery, didn’t talk about changing the amp hours ,
No more m5 sportin? Dont mind, new name is cool too.
No more! Lol we want to add other cars to the channel and old name was constricting is to just the BMW
@@ThicGarage wise idea, more freedom!!! Hope u still keep pumping out f10 videos!!
