This is an excellent video to show the 3 applications. The Engine Oil Level displays a number without units. In my case, 255. I have searched the internet for an explanation of what this number means and cannot find one. I apologize for wasting your time if the answer is obvious, but I am at a loss. Is it 255 cl, 2.55 litres or 25.5%?
I’m not a BMW pro but 255 (or FF in Hex) is the highest number available to an unsigned 8-bit integer for a computer. It might represent 100% in the case of the ECU. Best way to test it would be to drain a little oil during an oil change and then try to see what number appears (though I’d definitely suggest attempting it without running your engine!)
Protool is more like a combination of bimmercode and bimmerlink and focuses on E series. Bimmercode can only do coding not diagnostics etc. But it works with a wide range of models. So, it's about choosing what suits you the best.
I will be upgrading the Combox hardware from the 2G to 4G combox. I was told I will need to change the VIN number that's coded in the Combox to my car's VIN number. Will this application allow you to make these changes?

Helping each other is the only reason I started this channel, so I'll try to keep it as simple as possible for you. -check and delete error codes, view dpf state and force regeneration and some service functions like reseting oil or adaptations you can use Bimmerlink or BimmerTool. They're identical with different user interfaces. I personally use both. That function releases the brake shoes when you want to replace the brake discs. Inside the rear brake drums there are two brake shoes and you need to release them before attempting to hammer your old discs to replace 👍
What if the BimmerLink doesn’t show the brake icon that I’m looking for to change the rear brakes? Is there another way to release or press the piston back?
It shows the function on the application no matter what. This function is for electronic brake systems without hand lever. You can't take off the brake discs without disabling the parking brakes.

I'm not too sure about exact values of everything really. They always flacuate when engine is running. BimmerTool has some expected values but I never pay attention to be honest.
I don't know what to do, I have a bmw x5 (f15) from 2015 and it has very bad fuel consumption ... between 18mpg and 22mpg (driven in the city) But when I type on google the combined fuel consumption looks totally different (between 41.5mpg and 47mpg) which which is not good at all (the car doesn't seem to have problems and I don't understand why it consumes so much....
Yeh, it sounds a bit bad fuel consumption really. It's a heavy vehicle and driving in city has a higher fuel consumption. First thing I'd do is to clean the MAP and MAF sensors then check the air filter is new or not blocked. Keeping your car serviced is always a good idea and I never belive in the consumption numbers they publish. I have a full service video that shows how to clean those sensors, especially MAP sensor would definitely help.

Hi, it could be the car model compatibility issue. Have a look at the supported car section in the app. I also can't see some tabs as opposed to 5 series car for ex.
Ista+ Rheingold states the life span of dpf as 250000km which is around 155342miles at which the dpf needs to be replaced in order to keep the efficiency at a good level. However, you can just take out your dpf, carry out a good chemical cleaning, reset it and continue using the same dpf. (Steven B. Tuner has a few good videos on RUclips)

I don't think you can. First you need to scan your car and identify what causes reboot problem. Best option would be to connect to ista, then you'll be able to take action.
Whats the best one for error codes ive a seat belt icon and airbag logo on I need them checked my laptop doesn't work with ista so need one of these whats best to buy as I cant imagine any working and being free
just checking mate, did you manage to clear the airbag and seatbelt one beacause thats exactly what im looking at them for. Ive just replaced an airbag, seat and pretensioner and i need the light off. Cheers.
Check your battery safety terminal wire. Small wire on the positive terminal mine had an issue with seatbelt and airbag light and I replaced it, clear code and done
Hi, as you said there's a short circuit in the ecu. No software can solve it. It needs to be taken out and repaired if possible or replaced and encoded back in the car.
I would love to but I'm not a mechanic. Most of my Bmw knowledge comes from RUclips and internet forums, so I suggest you do a research on Bmw led light conversion. I'm sure you'll find lots of useful information quickly.

Hi, it can only read faults if the component has a sensor. So, the sensor can read the fault to bimmerlink.

Unfortunately these apps cant help you. The modification you want to carry out requires E-SYS software which needs to be used carefully.

Yes, it would show up the error code and you can take action accordingly. Once you fix it, you can also clear the error codes with bimmerlink.

5:49 is that battery voltage too low
Any voltage below 12.5 is considered low on car batteries.
