I though in America 'all purpose' flour was what we in Britain call plain flour. The reason being that you can add raising agents if you want to whereas we use different flours for different recipes. 'plain' for pastry and 'self raising (with added raising agents in the correct amounts' for sponge cakes etc. Sorry if I'm wrong but I watch so many American cookery programmes.
Made these last night and although I found it quite a challenge to “work the dough into ball” it eventually came together just enough to roll in the plastic wrap...left it in fridge overnight and baked them in the am...THEY TURNED OUT PERFECT and sooo yummy.....next time I will add grated lemon zest for an extra kick! 👍🏻
If anyone’s interested in a different 3-ingredient cookie, you can also make peanut butter ones with 1 cup sugar, 1 cup peanut butter, and one egg. Roll them into balls, roll the balls in sugar, lay out on a tray and push down on the top with a fork to flatten it some. Bake at 350 for like 10 minutes and you’re good to go. These also look great though, I’ll have to try them

Just made these tonight. They are wonderful. I added 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Was very difficult to leave them alone. Like potatoe chip's. ❤😊 No need for salt if you use all purpose flour.😊
for kids you can add sprinkles on top, you can put chocolate chips, almond slivers, I like the dry pineapple chips. Don't mix it in the dough, just sprinkle it on top before baking.
Made it with 3/4 butter, 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 1/4 cups of flour. Just use the cup measurements and it works great. Her 3 min. video showed how to knead it until it all is smooth and shape and put in refrigerator for at least 30 mins. Mine came out great.
Already made these cookies 3 times now. My husband is mad for them. This is the most easiest and delicious recipe I have ever come across. The measurements are perfect. However I had to bake them for more than 35 mins but I believe it depends on the oven. Thank you so much for this amazing recipe :)
Here's a tip for those wanting to make this cookie into a chocolate cookie or matcha cookie. For every amount of cocoa powder or matcha powder take out the same amount of flour from the recipe e.g if you put 1 tablespoon of cocoa/match powder then you take out 1 tablespoon of flour. That way the measurements will be equal

I added in the dough itself. Don't add the whole of a nut but chop them into bits that ways it relatively easy to cut. If the pieces are slightly bigger they can break a little but that's ok you can mend them by lightly pressing and bringing them together.

Wow a recipe like this has been in my family for over a hundred years and crossed the pond. 3 ingredients, though we prefer to use brown sugar and the amounts are a little different. I find it amusing to see the hype when I have been baking these every Christmas since I could help. My great grandma’s were Square, grandma had fork strokes, and my mom used shapes. I fluctuate between them at whim. Enjoy! Can be dipped in chocolate, trimmed with coloured sugar sprinkles, colour added to the batter and twisted into shapes like candy canes.❤️🎄
this recipe makes divine cookies. Just add a little pinch of salt and it will taste even better (you don't have to if you use salted butter). These cookies are called "Shortbread cookies''. Try it everyone, it's called simplicity at its best
I love your video.. I actually use to use this very recipe because of the minimal amount of ingredients but my cookies never looked as good as yours. The batches I made also tasted very nice but you had to have a cup of water on hand while eating, lol will make them again today!

I just made this recipe a few mins ago, I used margarine ( dairy allergy household ) and I had to use close to nearly 3 cups of plain flour not the specified 2+ 1/4 cups..... I have been cooking for many many yrs now, and thought it may be worth mentioning in case anyone else has the same issue I did
@@CT2507 while these will have a bit of a sandy texture, they are a shortbread cookie, you may not have incorporated your sugar/ butter long enough and using either the super-fine sugar or powdered sugar makes a definitive difference. Good Luck!

I just made these cookies yesterday, except I used brown sugar and added vanilla extract. And it was so good! My cookies were gone in just 24 hours 😂. I also prefer adding salt to my cookies because it tastes better.

The dough will do very nicely with the addition of lemon peel. Then the rolling sugar could contain also about a teaspoon of cinnamon and a tiny dash of nutmeg. Proportioins: 1 measurement sugar to: 1.5 of butter and 4.5 of flour.
These are such delicious cookies. My family and I absolutely loved them. My mom is a vegetarian which is why this recipe is perfect for her and you can always add your own twist to it which is why it makes it so amazing. I have now made these cookies three times and every time they turn out epic. They don’t last more than a day no matter what the quantity is. Also extremely fun to make. Definitely recommend!
I've made this years ago. Very simple, easy recipe. Can be tweaked in many ways. I place the dough into a used paper towel cone to slice off round biscuits. I've also added chocolate flakes...delish!

Absolutely yummy , I've just made some of these cookies @1.30am, best time to bake, with no interference, I doubled up on the ingredients, just so my wife can try 1 or 2 ,these are nice when warm, I like them more when they have gone cold, and you bite into it ,and CRUNCH...Many Thanks JY x

I just made this recipe a few mins ago, I used margarine ( dairy allergy household ) and I had to use close to nearly 3 cups of plain flour not the specified 2+ 1/4 cups..... I have been cooking for many many yrs now, and thought it may be worth mentioning in case anyone else has the same issue I did
how did it turn out with margarine?
mine came out tasting sandy... is that cause of too much flour or too much butter?
@@CT2507 while these will have a bit of a sandy texture, they are a shortbread cookie, you may not have incorporated your sugar/ butter long enough and using either the super-fine sugar or powdered sugar makes a definitive difference. Good Luck!
@@rainlyte2003 yea, i will try them again. i don't mind so much the sandiness if they melt in your mouth. but these ones didn't.

I made these, and my family kept complimnting the cookies! Tysm for the recipe!!! I would recommend adding a small pinch of baking soda though. It turned out great overall though. Thanks again!
Very good, congratulations. I added vanilla and change 1/2 cup of wheat to oat and I use whole wheat. Amazing recipe. If like sesame it's good too, I put in someones and taste are amazing.

I just made these cookies yesterday, except I used brown sugar and added vanilla extract. And it was so good! My cookies were gone in just 24 hours 😂. I also prefer adding salt to my cookies because it tastes better.

The dough will do very nicely with the addition of lemon peel. Then the rolling sugar could contain also about a teaspoon of cinnamon and a tiny dash of nutmeg.
Proportioins:
1 measurement sugar to:
1.5 of butter and
4.5 of flour.
I wonder want would it taste like if I used lemon flavoring ijs?

These are such delicious cookies. My family and I absolutely loved them. My mom is a vegetarian which is why this recipe is perfect for her and you can always add your own twist to it which is why it makes it so amazing. I have now made these cookies three times and every time they turn out epic. They don’t last more than a day no matter what the quantity is. Also extremely fun to make. Definitely recommend!

I've made this years ago. Very simple, easy recipe. Can be tweaked in many ways. I place the dough into a used paper towel cone to slice off round biscuits. I've also added chocolate flakes...delish!

If you check the recipe given on her website, it states Prep time 40 minutes, cook 20 minutes, rest 30 minutes, total 1hr 30 minutes. So which 3 minutes are we talking about ? Better title would have been easy 3 ingredient cookies.

--I don't have one of those silicon sheets line the baking tray. Is that absolutely necessary? What's the next best thing: Can I just place them directly on the baking sheet, use a nonstick spray, or line with aluminum foil?
Yes you can use both baking paper and spray but it best if u I use baking paper
