Hey all! I just wanted to say, that I wish I added a bit more of my own thoughts about the vocals! I was just taken away by the Nightwish train and I didn't really say too much about it in the video. But after re-listening to it I wanted to say that the pacing of the song and her "effortless" gliding through the lyrics from the first verse right into that chorus was majestic to watch. Such control in vocals and in breath work but are we that surprised, it's Floor! And then of course when she gets to the part where she sings the innocence part. Well I'll let the video speak for itself. Thank you all for being here! 🫂
That's fine. You're not first "reactor", neither the 5th, that gets so captivated by a NW live that doesn't talk as much as he/she'd wanted to. Another nice reaction. Cheers from Spain ;)
Floor is great with Nightwish. But you should also give her a try when she joins her friend Simone Simons and her band Epica on stage for their 10 years retrospect "Sancta Terra " with full orchestra and choir. (2 sopranos for the the price of one) ruclips.net/video/cx22Yuj2nzg/видео.html And also giver Floor a try with Ayeron - "Valley of the Queen" singing with her inspirer Anneke van Giersbergen and Marcela Bovio ruclips.net/video/TbebO5BZi-I/видео.html
I love when classically trained singers get stunned by Floor. When there are no words the Heart says it all. And the soul screams "Where has this been all my life!" We get it....
I'm glad you decided to continue discovering the diversity of Nightwish music. Be sure that you will continue to be surprised, because they do not have two similar songs. New subscriber here of course, so I can see you when you discover every pearl, every diamond. All the best, from Romania!
One of the things that is so impressive about Floor is her ability to command a crowd with just a gesture. Did you notice she didn't ask the crowd to clap along? She just put her hands above her head & clapped & 82k people just flowed along without even thinking about it.
Well, she is a Siren after all, That’s what they do. She has 81999 people eating out of thr palm of her hand. And then we have the infamous time traveller who is seemingly immune to her powers. 😂
Having been there, the thing that happens is that when Floor Jansen is on that stage it's almost like an electrical current is applied to the audience and locks everyone onto her and from that moment on you're under the spell. Only other time I've experienced that was when I saw Heaven & Hell live before Dio passed. Same effect. Just zaps you right into.
it pain me to read that ... as OG NW with Tarja ... is supreme, i didn't dislike Anette or Floor NW period ... i bought all albums ... but Tarja's voice is stellar (her solo album "My Winter Storm" is just impressive too, just as her duo with Sharon den Adel ), luckily you put "one of the best" in your sentence, which sooth the pain a bit x)
Such a simple song, probably the most simple song that Tuomas has ever written, yet it seems to touch the child in all of us. Brings me to tears every time.
Tuomas, the keyboardist is the genius of this he wrote the music and lyrics for just about all NW songs. He rocks as hard as everyone else...awesome. the reason it sounds like a movie is because there is a movie to go along with this...imaginareum!
And so your journey has now definitely been engaged… the Army has found you, there is no turning back. Have you ever had a healthy addiction? Nightwish and Floor Jansen will be it. Trust me on this. You are not ready for what is coming. Subscribed to watch your life changing adventure. In a world of ‘hype’ we suddenly stumble into the real deal.

@@rayactions Couldn't help it. I'm so enjoying your reactions. I watch a lot of these other reactors, but you are just different (in a good way). KEEP IT UP
"She's just eating that stage!" Absolutely. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Floor is one of the greatest front persons EVER. In my mind she's very much in Freddy Mercury league, and that's saying something.
Storytime and Ghost Love Score, in both original versions, were recorded by two different singers (Anette Olzon and Tarja Turunen), with totally distinct techniques. Floor just flow between this two "styles" with so much grace that all people who watch her sing just can't believe.
You used exactly the right 3 words to describe a Nightwish concert - epic, magic, and fun. No matter which concert you choose - it's always the same. I haven't seen a band live that has done that. Nightwish simply doesn't play bad concerts and doesn't let the fans go home disappointed! I really like how you react to my favorite band and that you,are delving deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole.
Imaginaerum album had such a fairy tale feel. When it first came out it was quite shocking "this isn't Nightwish!" but it definitely grew on me after a while.
Hello again, Rachel. Nightwish Army Phoenix subscriber here, loving your reactions. I agree. Floor ate the stage up. And this is such a fun song and performance. I hope to see you back again soon with another Nightwish live reaction with Floor.
Can't go wrong with anything Nightwish/Floor, and you most definitely can't go wrong with the Wacken concert. Romanticide is something special though if you are looking for recommendations.
This is that rare kind of song that the first time you hear it, you think you must have heard it before. Not because it sounds like anything else, but because you can't imagine that it didn't always exist. It must have always been there, an integral and favorite part of the fabric of everyone's life. You can't imagine your life having ever existed without this there...
Tolkien writes about the Universe being created through song and music in his books. Listening to Floor and the Band, you begin to believe it’s possible.
Ya gotta do I want my tears back in buenos Aires. The absolute definition of OWNING a crowd. She just commands the area just by being there its amazing to watch
A great song and an awesome example of Floor’s versatility as a vocalist: she goes from operatic straight into an amazing ascending slide, and then, with a shake of her head, into her rock voice. Simply epic. Great reaction. Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing the next one. Greetings from the Nightwish Army (Sydney Australia Division) 🇦🇺🤘
Floor is a master of stage presence. As you have seen she can dominate and control the stage. She can share the spotlight equally with another performer. She also knows had to fade into the background when it's someone else's turn for the spotlight. Every performance and song she adapts her stage presence for what is appropriate to the moment.
That’s Floor Jansen for you. Singing in a contemporary pop/rock setup and completely knocking it out of the park. But then she switches to a classical/operatic setup just to mix it up and then back again in an instant. There aren’t that many singers fhat can switch registers as easily as she can. The song is actually written with their former vocalist in mind and the operatic section was just a backing track. But who needs backingtracks when you have a vocaliat that can sing in any style she wants and/or needs? And another thing about her is her storytelling. She sprinkles in a more seductive voice when she sings “lips that intoxicate”for example. And as you listen to more Nightwish you will find that their storytelling is amazing and that Floor is a master of using both her body language, her face and her voice to capture the essence of the song and help the storytelling even more. Anyways, thanks for another entertaining video, looking forward to the next one.
Yes, Nightwish is a band that loves playing live. They always seem to have fun on stage, the looks between each other, the smiles, little gestures... That is contagious and the crowd feels it.
So Cal Nightwish foot soldier reporting in. I enjoyed your first two reactions. Now the hook is set, the rest of the Nightwish Army will be along for the long ride through the all of the magic. Lots to discover. Buckle up.
The "every chimney" and "every moonlit sight" makes me think of Mary Poppins too! Tuomas - the childman who never grew up! Fun to hear! Fun to watch all your smiles! Ate the stage?.... and the entire audience!
The reason for all the magic and fairy tales references in the lyrics is because this is a song off the Imaginaerum album which is a concept album that explores the importance of storytelling and imagination through the vehicle of an old composer on his deathbed reminiscing; the implication left up to the listener is that this could be a future Tuomas (the band's composer/founder) or maybe one of his inspirations, most likely a fictional character that combines traits... They produced a film to go along with this in a similar vein to Pink Floyd's The Wall.
Nice to find a frech reactor on RUclips, who does such handsome and enjoyable reaction. And I have to say your choice so far is awesome. Jinjer, Nightwish, FiR, Lisa, Rammstein and now even with Band-Maid coming up, my No1 favourite band for the last year. :) Got a sub form me for sure. :)
Subscribed and looking forward to your next Nightwish reaction! I'm a trooper in the North Texas Brigade of the Nightwish Army reporting in to say: excellent reaction to an epic band! I'd also like to recommend (respectfully) that you react to the opener from this Wacken 2013 show (Dark Chest of Wonders) as well as the opener for the Wembley 2015 show (Shudder Before the Beautiful). THAT is how you open a show!
So happy you decided to continue your Nightwish journey. Might I also suggest Sabaton as another excellent bad. Specifically I would recommend their song Christmas Truce. It's a tear jerker
I agree. It’s listed on RUclips as SABATON - Christmas Truce (Official Music Video). The official music video is definitely the best version for a reaction. If you do react to it, be sure to listen all the way through; the song continues during the end credits.
I don’t normally bother commenting on reaction videos but I’ve watched a few of yours this evening and thoroughly enjoyed them. You’re very engaging company and I hope you’ll carry on (and Hi from another Canadian!)
Calling Canada, calling Canada, this is London calling, over! 😁 Good to see you tasting a little more of Nightwish and liking it I hope that your journey will be a long one full of delights along every step of the way 😉
@Rayactions: Rachel, I will say it was interesting watching your facial expressions while reacting to this -- watching your mind go, "Wait, what? What did I just hear?" And the kicker is, you haven't even heard Floor _growl_ yet. For me, I've always had an ear for good music -- because for me, there is something imaginative, yet pure, when you hear a voice like Floor, coupled with Tuomas' compositions, which are executed flawlessly by the band. And yet...Floor growls. She has such control over her voice that she can get out not just not the "soulful" operatics, but she can go "haunting" with her vocals...and then make you do a double-take when you realize you heard her growl, and didn't know it right away. For me, that's when I knew Floor could basically sing whatever she wants, simply because it isn't just one style or type of music she does well -- but it's any style, at any time. And I've heard vocal coaches talk about how difficult it is to move, to transition, from one vocal style to another, and Floor makes veteran singers look like recruits and rookies. She is a once-in-a-generation singer, maybe once-in-an-era singer. And she makes it look easy. Trust me: If you react to Yours Is An Empty Hope (Nightwish Cruise), your mind will be blown yet again. Some people say Wembley is the better performance for Yours Is An Empty Hope, but I disagree because the sound balance for Yours Is An Empty Hope at Wembley was lacking. Plus, on the Nightwish Cruise, you get to see how Nightwish performs in a packed small venue.
Magical is a great word to describe this entire concert. You'd be doing yourself a HUGE favor by watching everything from this show, not just the ones on the list. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Hey there Ray! Glad to see a new channel taking the dive into the world of music reactions! And of course, whoever recommended your first several videos made some great calls and put you in a hell of a good direction. For another artist who has no business making their work look as effortless as they do, I'm going to recommend two songs from Devin Townsend: 1. "Kingdom" (live for EMGTV) 2. "Deadhead" (live at Royal Albert Hall) My jaw hit the floor watching both performances. The man has ZERO formal training and is absolutely insane.
Fairytale metal is a thing. Power metal in general is a good time. From Powerwolf’s metal mass to Brothers of Metal’s Viking tales or the epicness of Kamelot.
Fantastic reaction, found myself grinning like an idiot as you looked more and more amazed - seriously, you have the most amazing journey ahead of you with this ridiculously talented and versatile band. Maybe check out Ever dream next from this Wacken show 🤘
You have to watch the whole Wacken 2013 concert! Its one of the best liveperformances of all time! Nightwish at its best and Floor Jansen with an unbelievable voice performance for nearly 2 hours. I watch it 1-2 times a year and i get always goosepumbs. They did a DVD from this concert (Showtime, Storytime)
You have to react to the most impressive Nightwish song, it's called "The greatest show on earth", I especially recommend the most impressive Nightwish presentation that was in Tampere, Finland, the country where the band is from although Floor is Dutch, that concert live it will make you see life in a before and after, wonderful. Hello Rachel, I love your channel.
Ohh don't worry - you ain't seen nothing or experienced nothing yet 😂. Just think of - at this concert Floor had only been with the band for 10 month - and only doing old songs not written to her incredible techniques - but she certainly made the songs her own! But from 2015 and up - all the new songs are written to take advantage of Floor's capabilities - and Tuomas even managed to challenge Floor!! Even other old songs, they performed on the newer concerts, Floor has put through her interpretation - and converted into incredible performances... And Floor has - and are still evolving - since the legendary Wacken 2013 concert. It ok that you admire her stage presence here - but you ain't seen nothing yet - believe me!! Nowadays Floor takes 4000 - 100.000 into the stories, together with the band - and gives everyone's mind and soul, a roller-coaster of emotions - on each song. She makes thousands of people dance along, screaming their hearts out, cry their eyes out - she owns them/us all during the concerts. So just buckle up - you have just started your journey into the Nightwish Universe. Greetings from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 💪 🤘 🤘 🤘
I always recommend to watch this at least once through and focus on Jukka whenever you can see him. He’s playing the drums and this song with his complete body.
If You think she had one, you can't read properly this girl eyesight. It is so sad or maybe even cruel to watch, that this song suddenly ends just two second before her third floorgasm here :P
The voices you're hearing on the backing tracks are actually from a children's choir, plus an adult one. The orchestral music is from the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Here's a short video on the relationship between Nightwish, the orchestra and the choirs: ruclips.net/video/kbvXn6b_yec/видео.html
Welcome. Nightwish will always take you through a story, hearing and watching it is rewarding and id suggest keeping the captions off the first time as not to distract.
I wish I could discover Nightwish again. But even now, even though my fiancé always teases me I that I never cry, Nightwish music brings me to tears. I'd love for you to watch either Shoemaker or All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World. Gets me every time.
I love her stage presence. She could command the crowd to invade the next city over if she wanted to. I LOVE the imagery in this song too. This is PEAK Nightwish lyrics imo and in general Tuomas is very good at writing consistently but this one is an amazing lyrical journey. The reference like "Chase the night, the Elusive High, Alice you know once did" are great.
What I love most about Floor is that she, despite having an amazing voice, does not just sing or perform the song. She actually tells the story with as much passion she can.
I think it's 'fun' watching the expression on reactors' faces when they hear Floor shift in to opera mode for the first time. Enjoyed your expression and commentary. 😊🤘

Indeed. While every Nightwish song is recognizable as Nightwish, there's plenty of variation there to make every song unique.

Welcome to the world of Nightwish Wonderland. Get on the Nightwish train 🤘🏻⚡🔥
Enjoy the FL🌀🌀RICANE!!!
Hey there Ray! Glad to see a new channel taking the dive into the world of music reactions! And of course, whoever recommended your first several videos made some great calls and put you in a hell of a good direction.
For another artist who has no business making their work look as effortless as they do, I'm going to recommend two songs from Devin Townsend:
1. "Kingdom" (live for EMGTV)
2. "Deadhead" (live at Royal Albert Hall)
My jaw hit the floor watching both performances. The man has ZERO formal training and is absolutely insane.
You are now hooked on Nightwish like the rest of us Nightwish Disciples 😝👍🇦🇺🏄♂️🍹
'The empty crib of Peter Pan" is still one of the hardest lines in any Nightwish piece.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥…… Nightwish w Floor is The G.O.A.T. - there has never been another Nightwish; there will never be another Nightwish! I am Floor’ed ❤️🔥
Fairytale metal is a thing. Power metal in general is a good time. From Powerwolf’s metal mass to Brothers of Metal’s Viking tales or the epicness of Kamelot.
Great reaction! Another song where she owns the stage and you also get Marco’s awesome vocals is Ghost River from the same concert.
Yep thats why she's called the Valkyrie Goddess of metal
Reacción genuina, nuevo suscriptor🤝
Yo, u got new subscriber. Keep going and discover more Nightwish songs:) Greetings from Serbia !
Great reaction. Liked and subbed with love from NW army South Africa 🇿🇦
Just wait until you hear Marko's voice meld with Floor's in Romanticide.
The Valkyrie Goddess eats your soul while you're having a crush on her
Welcome to Nightwish rabbit hole
Journey through your emotions guaranteed.... 🔥🎧🤘❤
Can't wait for more
Great reaction
Sub 👍
I always recommend to watch this at least once through and focus on Jukka whenever you can see him. He’s playing the drums and this song with his complete body.
I think you just had a floorgasm..
Essential viewing Bill, especially at ruclips.net/video/kbvXn6b_yec/видео.html if Pip Williams says Tuomas is a genius it's good enough for me.
This may sounds crazy but just seeing you enjoying the music so much makes me happy aswell :D
Glad you enjoy it! :)
Do 'Ever Dream' next, hear a little bit of Marko. If you want to see them having fun do 'I want my tears back' from Buenos Aires 2019.
Welcome. Nightwish will always take you through a story, hearing and watching it is rewarding and id suggest keeping the captions off the first time as not to distract.
These are the pop songs of NW, they're a great gateway drug.
The reference like
"Chase the night, the Elusive High, Alice you know once did" are great.
What I love most about Floor is that she, despite having an amazing voice, does not just sing or perform the song. She actually tells the story with as much passion she can.
A few weeks before this concert Floor was on Dutch TV signing Puccini Aria live 😎
I think it's 'fun' watching the expression on reactors' faces when they hear Floor shift in to opera mode for the first time. Enjoyed your expression and commentary. 😊🤘
love this song
Have to say, this reaction was fun!
Greetings from Maine, USA, and welcome to the adventure. Buckle up!
Love you !!
