The heater valve and exhaust breaking off in that spot are common issues on the Nissan Titans. When I bought mine used with 100K miles I found that the whole tailpipe was missing and hot exhaust gases were shooting up onto the wiring harness and melted one of the ABS cables. New Borla muffler and replaced the tailpipe. Replaced heater valve later. Ironically for me I also had to replace the instrument cluster though it took quite a few repair trips to figure that one out. The bad cluster was causing intermittent no-start conditions due to the Nissan security system. The techs were baffled and had never seen that one before. To be fair, the transmissions weren’t too bad. They’re definitely not CVTs. Occasionally in the X-Terra or Pathfinder had em go bad because the coolant would leak and mix with the transmission fluid and it would cause something bad but if you keep an eye on it I’d say it’s reliable
You keep mentioning that these VK56 Nissans (Armada, Titan and QX) are not very good. I don't get it. I have had my Titan since 2008, and it has only needed blower motor resistor, driver door window regulator, accessory belts, brakes, upper coolant outlet and tires. Seems reliable to me. Especially compared to newer trucks/SUVs. BTW, the cluster issue is something many auto manufacturers struggled with in early 2000's...the industry switch to RoHS lead-free solder, which has caused many electronics in many different manufacturers from this era to have reliability issues. Early lead-free solder cracked or developed tin whiskers. And not just in cars, it affects many other industries.

Last year I had a GMC Envoy come in...... with this exact same problem. The GMC coil conversion is different than the stock (non air) coils, and to save money the guy (used car lot) that had the vehicle before used them instead of the heavier & longer "conversion" springs.
The problem with air suspensions will only get worse as more and more cars are getting them. Not many people will want to pay big bills to repair them 5+ years after the original purchase.
My 07 Rover has an original air suspension system that still mostly functions(it definitely is leaking and will likely need 2 new shocks soon). People either suck it up and repair them when they break, it's not that expensive or convert to coils by the time it breaks (which should be a decade or more if the system isn't cr@p) you need new suspension components anyway. So if a coil conversion and new shocks cost $1k, maybe 4 new airstruts cost maybe $1200 and a compressor and all the other assorted pieces is maybe another $500, so $1700 in parts vs. $1000 and the labor isn't much different. A conventional strut and coil system maybe the parts cost $750. Looking at prices for this QX the air struts are $150 and a Compressor is $250 from Arnott, so really not so bad. The Bendpak lifts are amazing - shop is just full of cars, but looks so much more open. In answer to the question, I would say the strangest (and probably worst) repair done to a car was my Mother-in-Law's 2003 Chevy Impala. She bought it from a sleazy mechanic who assured her it was a "good card" - it was not. It had issues galore. One of them (unsurprisingly for Ontario) was rust. When I finally got a look under the thing, it looks like most of the floor had rotted out the car, and the mechanic just sort of quick-welded in some cheap sheet metal to patch it up. It was SO poorly done that one good bump and the whole bottom would have fallen out of that thing. She should have *never* bought the car - but she is one of the fiercely independent types and did so without getting any help. :/
you better change the brake rotors with upgraded aftermarkets while you are at it - the 1st gen Armada / QX56 rotors would warp all the time. We lemon lawed ours it was so bad.

"What's the strangest 'repair' that was done on a used car you've purchased?" Picked up a cheap 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis with some rust issues. Awesome bendpak. Good product placement decision. The car wizard is a solid mechanic and I appreciate his knowledge and experience especially knowing he served this country as I did.
The DMV doesn't care about the odometer? What is to prevent someone from taking out their 300 million mile odometer and putting a used one from a wreck with 25,000 miles and then selling the car for a huge mark-up?
I had a 2012 Nissan Titan... what a piece of junk. Exhaust broke at 50K miles due to rust in the exact same place as Wizard’s Q. The water pump went out at 60K miles, aux plug to the stereo broke the first time I used it, OEM shocks went bad at 40K miles and one of the electric windows stopped working at 20K miles. I traded it in at 65K miles for a Lexus. It did hold it’s value surprisingly well.
Reminds me of time I needed both sets of brakes done on my Durango. I bought cheapest front brakes I could find. Replaced only front so truck would stop. Then sold it off the next day.
I love how you do your videos! Please don't stop. It's rare for me to find videos I like with people I can tolerate. Lol! Mrs. Wizard does an amazing job doing ALL the editing and I like her commentary as well. Keep up the good work and keep making that $
I really like the idea of air suspension but 5-10 years after manufacture parts become NLA and the aftermarket often offers no direct support outside of conversion to standard coilovers, so it ends up being a liability (spoken as a fan of '80/early '90s Subarus where the high-end models typically had air suspension). As for plastic/alumi radiators, they almost always start leaking from the seam at some point. I prefer to replace them with aftermarket full aluminum radiators. Mishimoto usually makes good ones.
I just watched the video of you getting it an hour ago 😂 I’m sitting in mine right now about to change the front & rear suspension & rear air ride compressor
I had a Nissan Armada with the same issue. The factory air shock effectively adds spring rate to the existing coil spring, so when the shocks fail (or are replaced with non-air shocks), you have way too little spring rate in the rear. It is quite scary to drive like that. Not that they ever handle “well”, but they handle terribly with the air suspension coil springs only

Wizard: "...We're really getting tight on space in the shop (stares at Hoovie)"
you better change the brake rotors with upgraded aftermarkets while you are at it - the 1st gen Armada / QX56 rotors would warp all the time. We lemon lawed ours it was so bad.
Names off several things he's had to fix, then states, "Other than that, I really haven't had to fix much." 🤣🤣
Ik right 😂🤣🤣
"Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
@@michaelv3340 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 RIGHT!
@@chadhaire1711 exactly this is much better
And he keeps inferring it has high mileage, but doesnt say how many. It would help put things in context.
Still got my qx56 2006 with 259K miles. Today I had to replace sway bars, cv axles and engine control module. It’s on the last leg but still a beast in my book
@@bubba2for2 keep same oil and gas for sure. Use BG44k, MOA & BG109 (Amazon) after each oil change. I would also replace catalytic converters as needed and use manufacture but get a good mechanic to install to save on labor charges.
@@bubba2for2 you are welcome and I hope it was well taken care of by the owner before you. I also wish you the best with your QX56. I love mines and it still pulls like beast!
I really like Mrs. Wizard! Im glad shes on the show!
Same here. Mrs. Car Wizard adds a nice amount of diversity to the channel and she is very knowledgeable and gracious as well. Fred
Own a '06 Nissan Titan for 16 yrs now. Great truck, but definitely not for someone who takes their car to mechanics for fixing. For me, don't see me getting rid of it.
Recently brought a qx56 first gen and knowing the background of these vehicles bought with confidence knowing that it I'll have monir bugs and that I would repair myself.
It's 14 yes old with 119k miles and I love it.
By the sounds of the extra emphasis on crazy d handling your sale, you've had people expect you'll be their BFF if they buy a vehicle from you.
Or they use the sale just to chat. Nothing more.
I want to hear the story behind that
I don't really wanna buy the car but can you diagnose what wrong with my 96 Ford Escort?
@@CarWizard I always wondered how businesses with public phone numbers and youtube channels deal with people calling just to talk or wanting free advice.
@@CarWizard unless it was another RUclipsr to help your channel
Glad you’re enjoying the Infinity! They get a bad rap but have their good points like you mentioned. Good power and styling!
My comment is Mrs Wizard has grown or emerged in channel and have become an asset! Two for the price of one type! Her descriptions fluency is great for the channel! Cheers!
"What's the strangest 'repair' that was done on a used car you've purchased?" Picked up a cheap 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis with some rust issues. Had a wooden bumper and the car was hideous, it drove just like it looked. Another was an '77 Pontiac Grand Prix with a rust hole in the floorboards patched with a handicap sign, but it had a good 400 engine and trans.

I wanna see more of that red beauty v70 stationwagon in the background. More volvos! 🚗
Awesome bendpak. Good product placement decision. The car wizard is a solid mechanic and I appreciate his knowledge and experience especially knowing he served this country as I did.
I changed the starter in my brother's a few weeks ago, it was easier than I expected...
In Australia that 2004 SL500 would sell for up near fifty grand....😳
I wanna see the red V70! With you know who!
The DMV doesn't care about the odometer? What is to prevent someone from taking out their 300 million mile odometer and putting a used one from a wreck with 25,000 miles and then selling the car for a huge mark-up?
I'm excited I have a pickup tomorrow at a cabinet factory down the street from omega.
Let's talk about that Passion Red V70R in the background.
Keep up the good work and keep making that $
Agree with you Wizard on the Styling. Had a 2004 white and it was one of my fav vehicles...just to many thing breaking on it after 100k miles.
Get ready to do the Exhaust Manifolds next both sides unless you use premium fuel
Why?
@@austinaubinoe Becauce the catatalyic convertors go bad on these cars i think its because people use cheap fuel
The manifolds crack regardless of fuel grade
My wife's son got rid of his 2019 Infiniti SUV after a year and a half because it spent more time at the dealer than at his house.
Is Bendpak the Manscaping of car channel sponsors?
Ey up I thought, Junior Mint - then you mentioned Crazy D. No wonder I like your videos, I'm a big fan of Dave and the Tractor Doc. 😂😂😂😂🇬🇧
I might have to call and ask to speak to the Wizard about this car. LOL!
Way to go Bendpak, you guys rock!
I think yall should've looked into an Alpha Romeo Stelvio Quadrifolio!
Is that a nice red Volvo V70 R in the background. I would like to see a video of that before it leaves
"Winterish" also here in Austria + snowfall every day this week, in April... 🤔

Im with you Wizard, some TLC with these Nissan Trucks are worth it!
I was really hoping Wizard found a bottle of water or something in the cluster.
Running out of space? Are you kidding? That building is huge.
Not that they ever handle “well”, but they handle terribly with the air suspension coil springs only
Wizard so important now he can’t be bothered to talk to his subscribers. LOL
I've got a 2010 4wd with Ranchos around(1.75 in lift) and moog springs and rancho spacers on back.. gibson cat back exhaust and spectre cold air intake... I love it

dont worry about the sbc i have an 04 and it just got fully replaced free they changed to a 25 year unlimited milage warranty because of how bad they are and how often they fail

Wizard, wasn't this one of the 'Do not Buy' cars? I guess your advice was right :-)
Yes, it is similar to the Nissan Armada and the Nissan Titan. Do not buy any of these vehicles.
I think you should do which Kia and Hyundai to buy
Yes despite popular belief they are quite reliable
There will be a buy this, not that video of these Korean brands tomorrow afternoon.
I see Hoovie's latest addition is already being worked on, the '66 Corvette.
Any info on the Ferrari under the cover next to the Infiniti??
Bendpak clearly has the best PR team and awesome lifts ..:they seem to send them to every high viewed RUclipsr
Our Nissan dealership replaced our Pathfinders cluster for free and it wasn’t even under warranty haha
Yep I'm surprised the car wizard even bought an Infiniti..... I preferred it when they were Datsun and they had the 5-10 and the 240 Z
love that spacious shop, awesome !!!!
Mrs. Wizard did a good job describing the car.👍
Should have went with a 2nd gen Sequoia!
That SL500 is sharp. Love it.
This makes me glad I bought a tundra instead of a nissan titan lol
I fixed the clicking heater valve in my son's Titan with the backing off of an ear ring. Slipped it on the shaft and held everything in place.
all that would cost me at least $3,000 or more
Something with a Nissan V8 already broken? **_Insert Pikachu shocked face here_**
