Excellent song ...brilliant lyrics sum's P COMPANY and life in the REG!!.... lot's of great memories of back in the day! AIRBORNE FOREVER!! "UTRINQUE PARATUS"
Always uplifting. Always takes me back to being awarded my maroon lid. No one can ever take that away from me. The values instilled will live with me and every paratrooper once that lid was handed over.
as a ex para, and in the big picture of things does it really matter what regiment we served in, I know we all have regimental pride, but at the end of the day WE ALL SERVED Queen and Country, whether you was in the mail room or in SF we was all small cogs in a very very big wheel, and without all the cogs the wheel simply does not turn
I absolutely love this song, give it a listen on a monthly basis. I am yet to find out who originally wrote and performed this tune, there are a couple of leads in various comment sections but no luck. if someone could shed light that would be bloody brilliant.
Have you had a dhobi this morning pongos?? Royal Marines...switched on, squared away thinking man's soldier. Oh, and it's no 'hat' we wear...we earn ours too. Regards, from 42 CDO
GOD Bless, Keep, Protect, & Heal all who serve for Liberty, Freedom, Democracy, & Security Now! the world is vile, wicked, & vil - BUT There are a Few who Stand ready to Help & Deliver! Blessings to All!
RAF here, as was my father. He served alongside the Paras in Aden, being a fitter on the Beverley. A family member was also ex Para and a big influence on my father. I took the Queen's shilling in dark blue, but I too have a very soft spot for the Paras and have a number of friends who did their bit on Mount Longdon. So why did neither myself or may father not try to join the Paras? - who knows, but great respect we both have for the maroon machine.
@MultiShaboom No, You Have Too Pass ADSC Then Another Selction Process Called PRAC (parachute regiment assessment course) that 6 week training programme u are giving is not enough. So ask for PRAC joining instructions so you know what to train for.
Alright lads, do I need to have served time with an infantry regiment before going Para, or can I enlist, do basic infantry and then go straight to P Coy? As honestly, all I want is to be a Para and I'd rather not serve with a regular unit if there was only a slim chance of ending up as a Para. Also, not taking it for granted I'd get in if it sounds like that.
It is, my friend. When the firsts Belgian paratrooper units were formed in the UK, (what we could call a part of the "Free Belgian Forces"), the Belgian soldiers of those units were issued (mostly) British and (a part of) US equipment - and decided to modify the UK paratrooper beret insignia, to add yet another sign to make sure they were identified as Belgians, and not as British, by their allies. A way to say "Hey, people ! Some Belgians are still up, willing to fight and fighting hard ! "
I knew a few of them too....Main lad was called Wally and he was a sniper in the church tower....He got shot in the hand trying to help a mate get over the river rhine....He never entered the cemetery until he passed away himself and they scattered his ashes with his mates. Big respect.
@@alanwilson4412 Hi Alan, it is. I wrote this comment 10 years ago when I was in my early twenties. Let me know if you think its inappropriate and I'll delete.
Hell yeah! I've got my interview in a few weeks and as long as i don't fail the medical i know i'll pass selection, been preparing for months. It's way too easy now though, no push ups, no sit ups, no pull ups no nothing. Just running, team tasks, lifting a 40kg weight and PT lessons. How's your run time for the 1 and a half miler?
@Harkenish Have some respect for the Marines. Marines are one of the best fighting forces in the world. The Battle of Belleau Wood was the bloodiest battle, and thanks to the Marines, they were able to push back the German army from a certain defeat. I'll give you guys respect. We are all on the same side.
@THEPARA2BE well done mate. keep the fitness right up & don't forget the rewards. Before too long you'll be trying to win hearts & minds, that's a down side but getting to splatter them more than makes up for it.
Hi all. I am currently studying my A-levels and will try for the Paras as an officer cadet, figure I might as well try for the best first off. What advice can you give me (physical and mental preparation etc). Any advice will be much appreciated.
We all brothers in arms each brotherhood fighting for the same course we just happen to be airbourne alit of marines sas and other soulders do there wings to. We all soilders
@MultiShaboom Ask Your Recruiter For The PRAC Joining Instructions, and Train to that standard. dont train for normal army selection. that things a piece of piss
@fonsy85 ... LOL? ... What is marines 1.5 mile rune time .. same as any other regiment like 12 minutes or something. Paras 1.5 mile time is 9.18 minutes + They have to do PRAC which consists of semi brutal tests like they will do in P-Company . Marines do 30 mile run in 8 hours, Paras do 20 miles in 4 hours. Also, 1st Battalion of Parachute Regiment is now the Special Forces Support Group and 60% of all SAS are ex-paras.
@9parasqn A women was in the MARINES, many many years ago, long before the commando's were formed, or even the Royal Marines. Full respect to para's by the way. The thing about 3 commando brigade, unlike 16th air assault (where anyone can join) everyone one is first and formost commando trained, so if the shit does it the fan a chef can put up as good as a fight as a general duties royal marine. Also about 20% of the corps are parachute trained now too. Remeber the 'sex change para'?
ye i no about 1 para in afghan with there little assault last time they jumped into battle was 1950s and paras do the same training as normal infantry its even done at the same place royal marines training is very different
@wibbledibblepibble !?! what? Great Song if one ever served. But what is the statement about? Brtis/Yaks - hate on video'. mmkkaaayy! Fun stuff. The British Paras set the Standard for our Development of Paras & the British Commandos Trained up our Rangers. Great History! :-) GOD Bless & Keep all who served. :-)
Don't fight on here guys! You're all on the same side! Concentrate on getting equity for the Ghurkhas who give so much for us, fight so hard for us, Compared to Paras /Royal marines their rewards are meagre!!,,,,,,,,,, " Lest we forget"!
we may all be a bit mental, but we are dedicated SOLDIERS! we get tasked we do it. God only knows why but we maintain our pride despite politicians. We've earned our reputation and still do . We are skilled and proud of it, each would sacrifice his life for his mate. Civvies? Me Me Me selfishness is the disease of this country we pull together or we will drown wake up we need to think about how we treat others.
AS AN EX PARA MY SELF FROM 2'PARA AND HAVE 4'BROTHERS IN THE BOOTNECKS IE RM, THIS SONG SAYS IT ALL ABOUT US AIRBORNE TROOPS WE GET THE JOB DONE UNLIKE THE CRAPHATS!!!!! WHO TRY, GREEN ON TROOPER GO GO GO THANK FUCK FOR THAT, YEAH PTI IT OPENS GREEN ON TROOPERS MAY THE REG B AROUND FOR YEARS TO COME LAD'S
I have to say, the Para's and Marines are completely different. Both are superb, but can be up their own arses a lot. Overall I would say the Para's are better, only due to the fact that they are more easily moved around, as planes are faster than boats, not due to them being better trained, or being better soldiers.
HAAA HAAAA good old......... BRITISH AND PROUD BANTER ..... as you get older you realize how fearless you were...... EX PARA ....... GREEN ON ALL THE WAY

best 7yrs of my army service i wish i could turn back time.
Utrinque paratus gave me a life. Joined in 1978 and lasted 8 years. Worst day of my life when I left. Still miss it
Still in the maroon machine brother
Always uplifting. Always takes me back to being awarded my maroon lid. No one can ever take that away from me. The values instilled will live with me and every paratrooper once that lid was handed over.

Funny how the parras account for 60% of all SAS troopers. What I'm trying to say is that 60% of all SAS troops are ex parras
Cheers from the 82nd..Air-fucking-borne!
I'm training before I go to afc Harrogate but I dream of being in the first battalion parachute regiment

Been a long long time since the boys have dropped into action. Still the top of the food chain though
@WAXY950 Most from the Parachute regiment are very close to the Special Air Service...so i'd love to see you saying that to them

keirfree definitely he is a great man and was one of only three people in his platoon to survive
@THESBS I heard the Paras produce the most recuits for the SAS from my grandad. is that statisticly right
Excellant........ oh the Memories.......... Tab on ;-)

Just remember respect is earned not an entitlement. The paras work together officers are not easily part of the machine. Good Luck
Our ATC CO got through the RM training but decided to join the paras instead for whatever reason!
Its called Friendly inter-regiment Banter. The marines are exactly the same Plenty of green lids who banters the Para's and vice-versa.
@TuPaCThADoN06 3 weeks away from passing out then is off to briz norton to get me wings let the good time roll.
what is it like at battlion?

It is, my friend. "La marche des parachutistes Belges" is the regimental quick march of the Special Air Service, so the Belgians must have been doing something right.
