We were watching the Stars-Kraken game last night and I turned to my wife and asked if the Rangers had the same intensity in game 7 and she said "hell no." • @mehmd1913
    @mehmd1913 Год назад +6

    Gallant was not the issue. He juggled his lines as much as possible and played match up hockey. Our defensive core was not good. Trouba was not good, Miller was not good, in fact very very soft in his play. Fox made some bad play decisions that cost us a goal or two. Panarin for the 2nd straight year did not show up. Kreider was fine. The kid line was a non factor. The 4th line with Motte, Vesey, and Goodrow was pretty good. Kane is now washed up. He did not help at all. He was slow and pensive and everyone deferred to him because of his pedigree. Tarasenko is a keeper. The difference last year was toughness, Ryan Reeves. We have a lot of skill and talent on paper but no toughness. The same thing happened in the Cup finals in LA, lots of talent but no toughness. The make-up of the team is on Drury not Gallant.
    Keep Gallant, sign Tarasenko, Trade Laffer, toughen up Miller or trade him, promote Chytil and Kaako. GET MORE TOUGHNESS!

      The team has averaged 50 wins the last two seasons. Thats not a culture issue. The reality is Drury falls in love with Eurostars who are masters at skating but forgot you need a balance with speed and physicality. Once they traded reeves away they became the softest team in the league. Only Trouba knows how to hit people. You can put all the skill talent you want on a team, but at the end of the day the playoffs require being gritty as well. The did not look good coming down the stretch, they looked apathetic and disinterested just cruising to the playoffs. For a large part of the season they played well below capability aside from a couple of stretches, especially the stretches where Shesterkin was on his game. I don't dislike Gallant, but he's overly rigid especially when it comes to the kids. He's a players' coach and no tactician, either he didn't listen to the advice of his assistants as to in-game adjustments OR they didn't provide any answers. Something needs to change - either the assistants have to go or GG and his coaches. It's also just possible that despite their veteran talent this teams needs a different coach, perhaps more of a taskmaster or a coach who exhibits less of a laissez-faire attitude towards the players ... and NO, no to Quenneville ... please, no more tired retreads.
    In the end the players are responsible for mailing it in, that said it's easier to make a change up top rather than try to move the players primarily responsible.

    The leadership on this team has gotten stale. Zibanejad hasn't done squat since he was traded here and is as soft as a cheap piece of toilet paper. Other than scoring tip ins and mucky goals around the net Kreider hasn't improved as a playmaker since he joined the team over 10 years ago and doesn't have enough hockey sense to be a leader. The team's two best players Shesty and Bread don't speak English well and rules them out as leaders. That leaves Trouba who did the best he could but isn't the team's best player by any stretch of the imagination. Then you have the hired guns Kane and Tarasenko who were leaders on their previous teams but as temps probably stayed mostly quiet. So there you have it. A coach who doesn't coach and a leadership group that doesn't make any sense. Time to make wholesale changes.
