    I did broccoli sprouts and have been doing for the last 2 months. The steel ring starts to rust. Not that its bad to eat sprouts that have had a bit of rust cos rust oddly is edible and its what makes himalayan pink salt pink, but I also have found I get the best greenest nicest full growth of the sprouts if I do 4-6 days in ambient light and 5 or so days in sun through a window. 4 days is not enough at all.

    Radish sprouts are so delicious. I let them grow for about five days... and the are wonderfully colorful and spicy. They are nice in salads or spring rolls, but I usually devour them from the sprouting container.
    Never managed to sprout mustard seeds though (only in sprouting mix). They always seem to spout some kinds of "slime" and go bad even if I rinse them few times a day :(

    • @robertocoria5575
      @robertocoria5575 2 года назад +1

      Quick question; Do you rinse any of the seeds for two days like the video says and then you just let them grow on their own?

    • @afishl1
      @afishl1 2 года назад +1

      Just a guess if you want to try again and report back, try rinsing them less! Slime can often be attributed to being overwatered when it comes to plants!

    MUNG BEANS: 1/4 cup of seeds is sufficient to grow upto 2 quarts of sprouts, which is far more than the smallish jar he uses in the vid.
    TIP: As for blackout, I just buy wire mesh mason jar lids (no cheese cloth req'd), and after rinsing and draining I lay jars on their sides in a pair of black no-hole 3" deep 15x11 sprouting trays (one right side up, the other upside down, stacked lip to lip). Basically, it's a 15x11 blackout chamber that's 6" tall inside. Failing that, just use an empty cabinet or large cardboard box.

      warmcozy lol not if it’s cleaned thoroughly every time. But thorough cleaning takes a toll on the life of the cloth. Also, if you use separate pieces for separate purposes then it’s not as much of a problem. But I strain yoghurt and curds so I decided to buy stainless steel mesh for sprouting! But no, new or gently used cheesecloth works perfectly fine!
