    Love this! Has the diffuser lens turned yellow since you first installed? I like the spotless look, but I understand those milky white diffusers are typically styrene, which can yellow over time. The manufacturer doesn't specify what material is being used. Acrylic resists yellowing, but I'm guessing only the crystal clear lenses would be acrylic. Any insights on getting that spotless look and avoiding yellowing would be very helpful.

    • @BoredGuyWithACamera

      Great question, our lights have been up for a little over a year. The diffuser has not changed in color at all. All our lights are installed under the roof line and face down. So since they are never in direct sunlight they will not yellow. Not 100% sure, but so far so good

    I love your holiday videos! I just bought 2 65ft strip rolls of ws2811 24V. It comes with the brick style 24V power supplies. For now I plan on using them because it's all I have at the moment.
    Do you think it will cause any issues if I extend the wires from the power supplies to reach the led strip? The length to the first power supply and led controller to the beginning of the run is about 40ft. The middle of the run since I have 2 ..65 ft rolls ..is about 35 ft from the power supply and the end of all is only 18ft away from the power supply.
    Or should I get just 1 large 24V power supply similar to yours and use the sp901 to distribute the runs so I won't need to inject power?
    * Only thing is, is the run of power ground data will still be a long run...example ...35-40 ft until it gets to the led strip.?
    The whole setup is going under my house on a sheet of plywood mounted to floor runners. The sp107e "getting wifi controller" will be there as well.
    What's your opinion?

    • @BoredGuyWithACamera
      @BoredGuyWithACamera  2 года назад +1

      I appreciate the support, I don't see any issue running longer wires considering you will be running 24v. You might have a slight drain in brightness but 24v is so bright your not going to miss out on anything . Switching out controllers and power supply is based of preference in what you think you could add in the future 😉. My plan was going to be to add a 16ft mega tree this year so I added more power. I did not need it on my original set up. But just like anything else if you plan to add more each year you will add more power.

      @@BoredGuyWithACamera hey thanks got the info. Well I'm late this year getting to put them up but I have 2 parts of the house installed..ws2811 24v but I have a issue. I cut the led strip to the length I needed and made a jumper of the same exact cable you used but when i power the leds up, the second strip is white all the time. So to eliminate my soldering job and wiring I put a controller and power supply to the led that stay white and they work as they should but when I link the 2 strands together , 1 works the other is white.
      I made a new jumper, same.
      I made sure the arrows -> are all going the same direction.
      Injected another 24v power supply to the end of the strips.
      It's only 19t long so far total 1 section is 14ft the second is 5ft long with a 3.5ft cable connecting the 2 strips.
      Do you have any suggestions as I contacted the vendor and they're trying to tell me I need a inline Amp that solders in the middle of my jumpers to carry the data signal.
      I have a sp901e but I wanted my legs to run all 1 right after the other instead of multi sections running at once if that makes sense.
      Any help would be greatly appreciated.
      Thx Eric

    I just bought the SP608E, the SP901E and the BTF WS2812B LED strip lights off of the links in your video, but I have a few questions for you.
    The big p/s feeds power to the SP901E correct?
    On the Signal Input from the SP608E you have a black ground wire and maybe a blue DAT wire coming from the SP608E. Is that also right?
    If it is then so far so good 👍
    The on the Output 1 (2,3,4) of the SP901E you are running a VCC, GND and DAT1 wires all the way out of the garage to the beginning of the WS2812B LED strips correct?
    If that is also right then I need to buy some heat shrink tubing and wire to run from the Outputs of the SP901E to the LED strips.
    So I would take the connector that is supplied with the LED strips and plug the female into the male end. Then I would complete the circuit using the wire I ran from Output 1 to the Red Green White pigtail, right?
    If I am good so far my final question is what are the extra Red and White wires on the LED strip used for?
    Sorry to be so lengthy and thanks for your help.

    • @BoredGuyWithACamera
      @BoredGuyWithACamera  2 года назад +1

      It's no problem at all. I try to help everyone out the best I can. Yes the PS is hooked up directly to the SP901Es, then I have a 12v power supply plugged into SP608E. The 608e has data and power running into the SP901E but not ground. The ground is supplied by the PS. I have standard low voltage 3 wire coming out of the SP901Es direct to the start of each LED strip on the house in 5 sections. Or 5 channels from the two SP901Es. The extra wires on the strips are built in injection points. So if you connect 3 or 4 16ft strips there's a good chance you will need to inject extra power in the middle and end of each long section. I have not run into a situation where I needed to inject power so far. As I continue to build on to my LEDs I will probably need it. I ran power and ground while I was doing my lights and just taped them up and tucked them in behind the siding fir when I need them . I hope this helps answer your questions. If I missed something please let me know. Thank you for stopping by and supporting the channel.
