      I started a new strip on every peak. So 1 full strip and 4 ft to do the bottom near my front door. Almost 2 strips for the peak above the windows to the right, 1 strip cut for the top peak, one full strip from front to back up top, 2 and a half strips to cover the large peak and down the left side of the house. So its a separate channel for each section of the house. I used wire from my control in the garage and up to each section of the house.

    I dont see a power source hooked up to the terminals on the amplifiers, just a data signal and power for the lights. What am I missing here. I could be wrong but I think the power for the 1 supply is only passing thru to the light strips and not actually powering the amps.
    Otherwise its a really neat system. I have already been looking into the BTF system for outdoor lighting in my pool area.

    • @BoredGuyWithACamera

      The signal amplifiers are multi functional to be used for all types of set ups. The power supply runs into my controller and then into my signal amplifiers inputs. I could run the controller by it self with out power into the signal amplifiers and waste money on a second power supply to power the signal amplifier inputs As stated in the video I have full power coming from the outputs.

    Awesome setup! I watched your other videos about how you ran the wiring from your power amplifier. My question is, when you ran the wire to above the roof, you are using more than 1-5 meter strip across that area correct? And you are using a different wire for each 5 meter strip? Or do you have enough power to not lose brightness on 3 strips in series using one set of wires on the second signal amplifier?? 2:54 So you could run 3 strips with one signal amplifier output? Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Since I need roughly 200ft I wouldn't be able to simply buy a few 50ft footers since I have 90 degree corners. I'm assuming I will end up with at least 6 different strips of varying lengths. AND I'll use those power extender cables? I guess those 90 degree corners are my biggest concern

      So each one of my roof lines are a Separate run of lights. I ran the wire from inside the garage where my signal amplifiers are through the wall and behind the siding to each strip of lights. As far as the corners go. I cut the track on angles to match up with each other. Then folded the led strips very carefully around the corners. This is the part that will get alot of people. If you have cheap light strips you could damage the lights. There are a couple videos on youtube that explain in detail on how to do it. I just don't want to be the one that explains it wrong and people start burning out their led strips. Lol

    Great educational video. Just a few questions;
    I have a split foyer home and plan buy the items you bought to do my home, similar to yours, Thanks.
    Couple questions; You stated you purchased eight strips, can I connect two or maybe three 32’ strips together to one amplifier input?
    At the center top of your house you have a split to where the lights stop and what appears another set begins, how did you make it blacked out, did you cut and run a wire between them?
    Where is your power supply box, amplifier, etc., physically located? Foyer or somewhere elsewhere an outlet.
    Lastly, do I have to use the channels or can I use another way to attach them up under the front of my home’s under hangs?
    Just trying to get great advice. Merry Christmas and happy new year.

    • @BoredGuyWithACamera
      @BoredGuyWithACamera  3 года назад

      I really appreciate you stopping by to check out the video. I'll try my best to give you the information I came up with while trying to figure out what was going to work out for us the best. So, if its an older split foyer house where you have a strait lines across the top and then a strain line minus the front door in the middle I would do my best to use 120v lighting. If you have a wood facia that gives you an inch + to hide the light strips you can simply use plastic strips screwed into the back of the facia board. I went with track lighting because I have aluminum facia and the track blends in really well. If I had any kind of lip I would have ran 120v lighting strips. As per the manufacturer you can run two strips side by side from the amplifier. The longest run off strips I have is about 42ft across the peak and down the side of the house but I power injected at 32ft and at the end of the strips. As far as my set up goes I ran everything from my garage to the outside with 3 wire loom to the start of each set of strips for a total of 5 wire sets . I just drilled a hole and ran my wires behind the siding. The blacked out part is from the connections strip to strip. I didn't want it to be that noticeable but these things happen. It won't be there next year. Lol. I hope I was able to help you out and be sure to check out all the videos I posted on the permanent lights to get a full understanding of how the set up works . Once again thank you, belated Merry Christmas and happy and safe holiday season.

    I’m thinking of running RBG 2811 strings. Do these light runs clip to one another? Most of the strings I’ve seen are in 50 lights which is like 11-12 ft long how many strings can I connect before they blow out? I can’t find that info out there anywhere.
    Also did you connect your wiring run from the garage to the light string? Is there a splice adapter or something that connnects your wire to the string on the eaves?

      @BoredGuyWithACamera  3 года назад

      So I just used these amzn.to/3r2ApIo at the end of the strips and spliced my wires in to them. As far as running 50 ft i don't think it will be that difficult, you would just start with a new strip at each break on your house. If you need to run 50ft strait you could get away with 2811s but I would go with something like BTF-LIGHTING amzn.to/3p05ZVh because they have the power injection wires already installed so you just have to run something like amzn.to/3mnrE8n side by side from your power source to run the full length. All the strips i have on the house were 16.4 ft I used a total of 8 strips. I cut the ends off 3 of them.
