I have a recently acquired a strip that is labelled "FI FO" instead of BI. It seems to be the backup line as it runs the LED light program for either line. The distributor recommended that I tie the data DI and FI together. FYI, the product is a 10m length of 24v "flex" strip light.

Best practice, for us, is to connect the Backup data on Ground. Which IC is this? Curious about the labeling. Never encountered such strip, yet it happend a few times that the producer simply decided to use their own marks :)

What if you connect multiple ws2815 strips in one run, do you just connect the backup to the ground on the first strip in the run or all of them in between each other?

You short the Backup at the beginning only. Between the strips you continue connecting the In and Out pads, e.g. Backup Out -> Backup In, Data Out -> Data In and so on. The only think that you don't connect is the (+/Vcc) when you are using multiple power sources.

Thank you very much for the good video. But what is the point of the backup pin? is this there for the fact that if an LED breaks, that the signal is then looped through?

Hi, yes, the purpose of the backup is when one LED diode dies, the second one after the broken one will work.

Why couldn't you connect the backup data to the original data line?

Because that would shift the image data. The backup line should remove first LED from the data you send, but we don't do that in the controllers. You would need to generate whole new signal, which doesn't contain first LED to be correct. Anyway, our experience - the backup never works well.

Hey, can you give me DMX 512 to the SPI decoder which can work with this LED group (WS2815), I try to create a DIY pixels mapping but it's always difficult for it to work. Thank you for this video she helped me

Our small SPI LED controller can convert DMX512 to any SPI signal (including WS2815): www.ledstripstudio.com/spi-led-controller/

Czyli takie podłączenie spowoduje ze kopia zapasowa będzie działać bez problemu tak ?

Tak :) though it is worth noting that this is for the strip type that we are using.
