I never wore a shower cap and did water rinses every other day during the first month of my locs and my hair is now locd. The two strand twist pattern is almost nonexistent as well and it’s been 2 months. 4c hair loves water and it helps it loc much faster!
Yessss, Nya!!! You’re so right 🙌🏾💕 what were your water rinses?!? Did you completely submerge your hair in water or did you do more like a mist? I might try those every now and then between washes! Love the idea 😍
Alexis Harris Alexis Harris I just did water rinses in the shower by dunking my head under the water and letting my hair and scalp get completely saturated. Sometimes my hair didn’t need a wash with shampoo, just a rinse!
❤ Thank you for sharing your journey. I’ve watched many videos on locs and I’m ready to moved forward with my DIY two strand twist which I plan to also interlock. It is my 65th BD on the 28th of February and it is my goal to start a week before. I’m grateful to you and others for the encouragement. 🌹
Started with 2 strand twist November 30, 2019. My youngest daughter wanted them as well. She started her journey December 2019. We are both loving our loc journeys! 🤗
I absolutely love your videos and your locs!! I have 4c hair also and while doing research I wanted to follow someone with the same hair type. Then I found you 😊 My journey started exactly one week ago on February 4, 2023. I started thinking about locing my hair back in December, did research in January and jumped right in. I’ve always loved the way locs look and I’ve been looking for a way to embrace my hair since going natural 9 years ago. I truly believe locs are the answer. I’m not a product junkie but I gathered the ones I had and got rid of them. Why? My locs won’t need them. I’m fully committed to my journey and excited for it. Thank you for sharing the way you do…even years later!!
I really don't understand the aviod water for months thing, um when i washed my loose hair it was sooo tangled 🤦♀️ why wouldn't i apply that to help it loc up?
Details! You gave ALLL the details. Lol but honestly, you were so spot on when you mentioned how our loose natural hair reacted to water. It is so interesting to be on this journey and essentially re-learn my hair. Basically, I do the opposite of what I learned from my loose natural days. I’m loving it so far.
I started my loc journey August 20, 2023 and my son wanted to start his after I got mine. He’s embracing my loc journey and we’re definitely loving our loc journey together!
Hi beautiful. Thanks for the tips. Yes water in your hair and body keeps your hair and skin looking healthy. Your skin is flawless. What is your skin routine? Be aware that lint and frizz are issues that you will have to deal with during your loc journey. It is absolutely essential to find an oil or moisturizer that your hair "likes" in order to lessen the frizz. Find your core products and maintain your shampoo and conditioner schedule. Less is more when you have locs. Our locs are like a magnet for anything in the atmosphere. Keep the videos coming. I'm so proud of you Alexis!
Hello gorgeous!!! Loved loved LOVED reading your comment. So many helpful tips in there and your hair looks beautiful!!! Thanks for the compliments 😍 I’m with you 100000% when you say WATER keeps your hair and skin healthy. Maybe I’ll film my skincare routine one day! I wash my face with cream in the shower, then apply a toner, and mist with rose water before adding a hydrating face cream 😍😊 for me, it’s all about keeping skin clean and hydrated. Sending hugs!!!!
My cousin put my two strands in yesterday evening. I love them, I’m excited for my new journey! I constantly have the urge to play with them. Any advice?
Hello Alexis, I don’t usually comment but I just want to say thanks for the content you post : I started my loc journey 2 weeks now and find your channel to be very helpful, thanks for the updates and encouragement. It is refreshing to see someone who is also in the “new phase”. Informative tips, thanks again. Quick question: do you use water and oil each day or only when needed?
Hi, lovely lady!!! Thank you so much for taking time to leave some love 💗 it really brightened my day! Congratulations on your new journey!!! I’m excited for you. I use water and oil pretty much every day (I think I’ve only skipped maybe one day - when my scalp didn’t feel like it needed to be oiled). I also use grease instead of oil if my scalp is really feeling dry! So it just depends, but so far I’ve been hydrating (lightly) daily 😊💗
I'm 2 days in and this was really helpful to know! My location told me not to wash my hair for the next 6 to 8 weeks but that didn't sound right to me.
Your tips are always the best! I started my loc journey July 3 so I am not too far behind you. My hair texture and pattern is the same as yours. I will start showering without my shower cap and see how that works for me.
Hello beautiful woman!!! Awww thanks so much for your comment. You made my day!!! Congratulations on your new journey 😍🥳 you started on my oldest brother’s birthday!!! Sending you lots of love 💗

Rose oil water where do you find it
I usually get mine from Walmart and Amazon 💕
Ok so I started my locs May 10, 2020 I’m currently 6 months in I stared wit 2 strand twist btw and my hair seems to loc fine but the ending is just taking forever to bud any tips to make my ends bud really would appreciate the advice 💯🙏🏽🙏🏽
Congratulations on 6 months loc’d!!! 😍😊🥳👏🏾 super excited for you. No idea how to make the ends seal faster. I’ve always heard the ends are the last to fully loc. I’ll keep my eyes and ears open for any insights!!!
I've been locked for about 3 months and I really see no progress in my two strand twists except new growth. I'm 4c
Ty for the helpful tips 🙏🙏
Thank you so much for being here! I’m so glad you found this video helpful 💖🙏🏾
My bf used extensions to do his two strand twist becsuse his hair was pretty short
Will it still locc up with extentions?
Hey love! It definitely will still loc. Most people end up cutting off the extensions when their real hair grows longer. He will be just fine! Super excited for him 💖
👍enjoyed the video
Where can you purchase rose water from and do you dilate with water
Hey Toya! Great question. I buy rose water from Walmart and sometimes I order it from Amazon. I don’t dilute it 💖
