2 strand twist is the best way to me to start locs. Until they "bud" they're locs. I start most clients hair with 2 strands twists. Please wash your scalp every 2 weeks. Salt water is great to loc hair. Think of all our Jamaican Brothers and sisters. They swim in salt water. Please cleanse that scalp. You'll be good
@@Sheshollywood i'll suggest make sure you hydrate your hair with a water based or butter base cream. Seal the hair with oil. And twist in damp or dry hair. It will shrink after you wash it but use a stocking cap to wash shiiiiii they won't unravel
Thank you! I'm changing my locitian because she's so stuck on me not washing my locs. I'm a clean woman, I like my hair to smell good. I would've never started my journey if I thought I couldn't keep my scalp clean. What a relief to hear this!
Locs are fragile. They were probably forewarning you about the dangers of manipulating your hair too much. A lot of manipulation causes breakage and baldness.
I started my journey again yesterday(I had locs for 13 months previously but combed then out) and I must say I'm very excited to see what they look like in a few months
My hair grew so fast and I think that your hair is so pretty. What I suggest is using heavy rain water when it is lightning and thundering put in a bowl outside and use that water to rinse your hair
I started my loc journey with two strand twists 12/16/22 and I'm so super excited it's almost silly, lol. I can't wait to use your tips and see my progress. 🦄
Back in the late 60s and early 70s, my dad said he would swim in the ocean and almost never wash his hair in order to get his 2c-3a curls (he's mixed) to matte up enough for him to pick into the perfect fro. That man was RECKLESS😂 I love him tho
Im a proud 🦄 and i restarted my journey June 21st, 2022! I started the second time with 2 strand from coils and its been a MUCH better experience! I adore your channel and i’ve been following for a while thank you for your genuine spirit 🤗
🦄Just started my loc journey today from a TWA! I was only able to rope twist half my head, I’m going to finish the rest tomorrow after work. Super excited! Thank you for all of these videos. You inspired me two years ago to start locing and I even had you on my vision board last yr and this yr as my hair inspo and I finally doing it! They literally look like little tiny plant sprouts but can’t wait to see how they turn out throughout time 🥺😍 Many blessings to you 💗✨
I’ve been locd for almost two years and I wet my hair everyday🤷🏽♀️. My hair feeds off of moisture and hates artificial moisturizers lol. Water is my hairs only source of moisture.
🦄 I have decided to loc my hair and as I was doing my search your videos came up after watching this video I am extra confident I can do this. Thank you
You are so right about putting too much water in your hair when you are first locking your hair. My new Sisterlock consultant told me that when I was in my 4th month of baby locs and that's why I had so much slippage. Now I don't wash my hair every week and I stopped spritzing it so much and it is definitely locking up. I only spritz water when it's getting dry and I clean my scalp with witch hazel between washings. I also use the sea salt spritz but please be careful folks because it can dry your hair out and create breakage. I only spritz sea salt once right after I wash my hair and it is doing the work!It will wash out because the salt is soluble. Thanks so much!
Yay. I wanna loc so bad and I’ve been trying to figure out a method to loc my hair easily because I wet/wash my hair often. I was going to do extensions but this is much better. I usually get tired of my fro and cut it but now since I see this it’s a GO for locs for me. 🦄

🦄I’m on my loc journey now. Only 15 days in. I spritz my hair with water every day so it could be manageable a for it to drop a little bit. My hair is trying to loc in the middle. I really can’t wait for my first retwist. But your video is keeping me encouraged to keep moving forward.
Hi beautiful... your spirit is gorgeous. Started my loc journey during the quarantine april 4th, been wanting to my whole life. Im gonna use you as inspiration. Thanks sis. 🦄
Please check out Yanni the Locologist. Too many “products” are definitely a no no for healthy locs. I truly believe water is the key! I’m so excited about growing my hair out now to begin my loc journey. Blessings.
So glad I watched this. I’m getting starter locs next week and I’m clueless about maintenance. I will be going to a stylist that specializes in locs and having her retwist, but I need to know how to maintain them between appointments, especially while working out.
Did small 2 strand twists a month ago and about two weeks in, I said I think it's time to try locs. Made it to a month but really wanted a good wash so I've taken out, and plan to retwist and make the parts really neat this time to get started on locs. This video came in clutch with the tips on retwisting. My roots were coming undone so bad each time I washed (I'm used to washing every week) and I was at a loss of how to retwist them. ❤️
You are absolutely correct. I used salt water on my hair and my hair loc’d. I started my loc journey August 7 2019 and my hair has several different textures. The hair at the nape of my head is very loose so are the sides and front. The crown has a tighter coil and loc’d within 4 weeks. Since using the salt water the nape is loc’d. Water whether or not it is salt water or regular water will help get you loc’d faster. It makes sense. Water helps with shrinkage which helps with matting, so naturally the hair will loc. In fact the more I wash my hair the faster it locs.
Yes I was told not to wash my hair until it loc. And I’m like I workout and my scalp sweats bad, I’m washing my hair! My scalp starts itch within 3 days I’m washing or putting my head under some water lol
I am so ready for this. I’m ready to be freed from the burden of high maintenance and worrying am I good enough. This is me! I want to feel that everyday.
Your hair looks a lot like my texture. I tried locs two times. This is my 3rd time and I’m starting with two strand twists but I’m feeling discouraged because the unravel. Some are unraveling and some are tangling. It’s like 3 different textures in my hair. Thank you for the info ! Very helpful
That explains why my hot yoga (pouring sweat) has caused my 4 week old locs in the back bottoms rows to shrink and bud. Now I need to spray the hair that doesn't get so sweaty. Thanks. 🦄 ✌🏾&❤
I wear braids and Senegalese twist all year around to protect my natural hair ... you’re inspiring me so much to start my dreads back thank you for the tips 💙💙

Thanks for posting! I’m so excited to start my journey and was looking at my stylist crazy when they said no water too lol..firstly, I workout a lot and my hair doesn’t take kindly to no water at all..plus who wants to start a journey with dry locs?? Great to see it’ll Loc just fine 🦄
🦄 just started my loc journey April 3. Watching your videos has me hella excited for my baby locs. Good tip on the salt water imma go do this asap. Much love 💕
So many people told me I shouldn’t wet my hair. I’m 7 weeks in. I have been wetting my hair twice daily and my hair is definitely budding in the back. My hair loves water. This time around, I’m not asking anyone for loc advice...lol. Going to try salt water on the front to see what happens.
Ur so pretty I love ur videos! 🦄 I also use water everyday.... I’m on week 3 also... started spritzing with water after the first week and already experiencing budding! It’s been an amazing and itchy journey so far lol... I have washed my hair twice already.... I was literally listening to that "yah trick yah" song the other day and remembered how your brother used to say that to you in middle school lmao Idk why that came to mind!
Yes I've finally found someone who's hair looks like mine. My hair used to be super thick but after a few big chops my hair texture is looser now. I just started my loc journey on Nov 11th and I was getting irritated with the frizzy loose hairs.
I am in the same boat I’m 1 month and 3 weeks in and that is also in my go to style and I did the finger coil method and water does help loc faster my locs in the back are locking fast but my roots are puffy though
I just started my baby locs! I’ve been watching your videos and they’ve been such a great help. I just searched “blonde locs” and there you were! I have a question for you. Did you experience unraveling with your twists? If so, what did you do to stop it or did you just have to keep retwisting your twists until they started to Mat up?
I started with braids... And i use to wet my hair everyday... And i also did use the salt water... It worked for me.. But it will dry the locs out....ijs
🦄🦄 keep the loc journey videos coming. I watched your video because I’m starting my journey this weekend for the 4th time. I have softer hair so I’m deciding to do the 2-strand twists I think would be better for my hair. Thanks for your video
I did the sea salt after I had to get the back of my head retwisted after a month🙄 after a week of sea salt - it’s locked back there. I’m going to keep using it but just not every day, and not after a retwist.
🦄 I’m new to your page and I love it. I had locs a couple years ago but I decided to cut them off because I felt like the energy being put in my head by who was maintaining them for me was not good and it was affecting my scalp. I’m planning on restarting this journey and you’re really making me want to start sooner than later. Also I started before with the comb twist method but you also have me wanting to do 2strand twists instead. You and your hair are so beautiful!!! I’m also very interested in the way you make your product that you use in your hair. I have been waiting partially because I need the perfect product so that my scalp doesn’t suffer again!
That is an important factor ppl don't realize! My loctician is cool, even keeled and a nice young lady... my kids dad got a new baby and his 'baby mother' want to retwist mine, she's younger and hot headed and we never had beef, but my discernment is absolutely NOT! Energy is everything!
🦄❤️ I always figured water helped loc faster because my hair always knotted/matted when air drying after washing. Idk but I’m going to try it because I just started my loc journey two days ago so I’m excited to try it.
i first saw you on IG and you were instant inspiration for me with your loc journey! i’ve been wanting to start this for years now so i’m happy i came across you on youtube too for this helpful tips. i def agree with you on being all for the process but we gotta keep it cute! lol 💕
🦄 New here have locs second go round took them out 1sr time and hated how the person locd my hair. I am literally taking them down and starting them with 2 strand twists. This video really helped me because I feel I can maintain them better myself and you have given me the confidence. Thanks again!!! Bout to binge watch the rest of the videos.
Hi! I just came across your videos. How are your locs so curly? I love it! I’m currently a 3c about to start my loc journey and am highly considering the instant loc method with the crochet needle to speed up the locking process. But I want to still have some curly effect!
🦄. I love your hair! Did you already have color in your hair when you first started your locs? If so, is the color maintenance process the same as with loose hair, or is it easier with locs?
I spritz my hair DAILY. Multiple times actually... I use regular water in the morning to fluff out and go, maybe mid day if my hair feels dry but I use a mixture of conditioner, little oil and water at night to hold the moisture longer. 🦄

That is an important factor ppl don't realize! My loctician is cool, even keeled and a nice young lady... my kids dad got a new baby and his 'baby mother' want to retwist mine, she's younger and hot headed and we never had beef, but my discernment is absolutely NOT! Energy is everything!
🦄 starting my locs this weekend!! Doing research now, thank you so much for sharing
Love it. Can’t wait until this shutdown is over so I can go to the salon and start my journey. 🦄
Lorraine Shivers I’m thinking the same thing but then I’m like should I just start it myself!
I said the same thing but now I can't wait!! Gonna start them myself!
Soooo .. hows y’all journey going? Lmao
Love your locs, they are going to be really nice on you as they grow even more, but cute at this stage already 🦄
🦄
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Your hair is so beautiful ☺️🥰🦄
This was so helpful. I’m 5 days into my journey and I’m loving it. New subscriber!! ❤️
So awesome! I started my loc journey a week ago and I'm so excited to see where they go from here
Hi! I just came across your videos. How are your locs so curly? I love it! I’m currently a 3c about to start my loc journey and am highly considering the instant loc method with the crochet needle to speed up the locking process. But I want to still have some curly effect!
Some people loc most of their hair and leave the tips curly and it looks cute tbh.
@@jaydenpelagio6279 this is the method I chose to do! I love it. Loc’d since 4/20/21
🦄 I just started my locs 3/4 weeks ago. About to do my first retwist. LiLove your page!
Just started my journey on the 24th! My hair is much shorter than yours tho
I literally just started yesterday and I'm so excited!
I braided my roots and two strand twist the rest of my hair so I would have more length not sure if that’s good for my starter locs but we’ll see
drucilla evans nah undo that just two strand
That’s how i started mine but i only did it to insure i don’t take them out
love love love queen, we are both on our journey!
Beautiful! I'm about to start my 2nd loc journey and these are some awesome tips love! Thank you 🦄
I know it’s early but HOW MANY LOCs YOU HAVE?
🦄. I love your hair! Did you already have color in your hair when you first started your locs? If so, is the color maintenance process the same as with loose hair, or is it easier with locs?
love it xoxoox
I spritz my hair DAILY. Multiple times actually... I use regular water in the morning to fluff out and go, maybe mid day if my hair feels dry but I use a mixture of conditioner, little oil and water at night to hold the moisture longer. 🦄
I just started with coils last night. Our hair is about the same length so you've been my locspiration🥰🦄
🦄❤ loving this loc journey so far! You inspired it sis 🥹🥲
