- SURPRISE ESTATE BUYOUT! | ANTIQUE & VINTAGE HAUL | CHEAP PRICES ON RESALE BUYS
What do you do when someone warns you that an estate is picked over, messy and dangerous? In this case, I say I’ll be right over!
What starts as an estate sale prospect quickly becomes a buying opportunity instead, and I suddenly find myself filling boxes as fast as I can with whatever vintage values I can ferret out in a two-hour window.
After this mad scramble, I scarcely remember what I bought! Beneath a couple of fun ‘friend mail’ items are boxes full of who knows what? This is a big haul, and we get to rediscover the finds and see the good, bad and ugly of a spontaneous estate sale shopping opportunity.
Did I score, or will I be sore? A shiny shelf of truly antique copper items rescued from a high shelf is an auspicious beginning. We fill the shelves with goodies as we unpack, and there's surprises aplenty as I look closer at what I grabbed. I won't spoil it by telling you what we find here, you'll just have to watch with me!
Along the way, I tell the sordid story behind this estate, and the rationale that changed my role from estate seller to estate buyer. Helpful tidbits for resellers faced with the same prospect of a last-minute dig are peppered in throughout the video, along with explanations of what appeals to me (and collectors) about these varied items, and what I hope to get for them from my $500 investment.

That's true! I'd better be good this year
Hi George. I enjoy this style of show so much. Can't stop watching. You are so entertaining .
Oh thanks I really enjoy doing hauls when I have a good one!
That Lady and the Tramp Wade figure is so adorable 🥰
It is! That whole set by Wade is absolutely whimsical
Spectacular buy with many treasures. GREAT VIDEO AND GREAT CONTENT. THUMBS-UP ALWAYS!!!!!!
Thank you! I really was fortunate with this buy
Very nice stuff loved it all
Thanks it was fun to share and there's more in my next video
I love the Beatrix potter and the Spode...and that boy in the beginning and the old prayer piece...
I was so happy to get some fresh stock in nice English porcelain, it'd been awhile!
@@TheAntiqueNomad that was so special..dad and i got a special piece hunting years and years ago..he read us those stories as kids..thanks for fantastic videos i am getting around to.
great video. you got some good stuff!
I felt fortunate
So many cool things, I am a sucker for the Beatrix Potter, My first born is a Benjamin and My Benjamin Bunny, I bought him a Benjamin bunny plush when he was a child and a little porcelain Benjamin Bunny Cup, He still loves them :-)
Aww cute! I had the melmac Peter Rabbit breakfast set as a kid
I like the seascape behind you! 😀
Isn't that cool? I'll talk about it first thing in my next video
🎯great video
Thank you! 🤗
That was fun .lots of nice stuff have a good day guys b safe
Thanks you too!
Hi, I had 8 stiches in my head from a so called harmless sword, one halloween. Men dressed as Gladiators playing sword fight behind me on the street. No sharp blade necessary. 😆
Yes we do have boxing day in Canada. It's only been about 30yrs since stores could open on boxing day.
I think Nate needs that Wedgwood thimble. 😉
Thanks for my birthday entertainment George. Take care Tfs.
Thank you Cheryl! Terrible about the sword. I agree about Nate and the thimble
Wade is my favorite.
I bet Jeffrey would buy the train game for his husband
Someone else suggested I show him too!
I saw you on TV tonight too! I was out of the room, but recognized your voice. Wasn't surprised to see you on the historical part of the show. Good video - nice finds.
Thanks! The TV show... Every time it runs I laugh because they took me completely out of context and cut it so what I said fit their narrative...I actually said exactly the opposite and do not believe what they concluded was true at all
Loved this George! When I buy from an auction, sometimes I pay too much for one item and very little for something else. When I have the total sum I just divide it by how many items I have and, at least in my mind, I got an overall good deal on everything when I come up with an individual cost for each item. The same applies to your haul! All works out in the end!
That's how I view it too, sometimes you stretch for a few better bits but it averages out
When I was a teen I worked in a Wawa and you would be surprised how many people would resort to buying cigarettes with coin collections. I came across a 1930’’s silver dollar among many other pieces. We used to buy the coins from the registers. I have been holding on to my Peter cottontail items from when I was a baby hoping they are worth something someday. At least they are worth over $10. I have mother rabbit and Henny Penny.
Cute! Yes I find coins in the till doing shows and estate sales sometimes
I collect antique copper kitchen items. I would love to find what you got!
I really like that batch too
Do you sell direct? I love the Beatrix Potter pieces.
I do! Please email me at theantiquenomad@gmail.com
Great 'cliff hanger' ending, looking forward to the second video. Mental health issues make situations like this estate even more difficult. Hopefully everything works out alright for them. But this was a fun video to watch, you picked up a lot of cool stuff. Thanks for sharing!
It's hard and I feel for the heir, he's not able to understand why things are happening but it seems like he has reliable people to help
Great video. Looking forward to more! Love the copper pieces. So unique.
Some really pretty ones! I'll see you for part two
The fish reminds me of The Incredible Mr. Limpet.
Yes funny
Icarus was the god who flew too close to the sun. The wax in his handmade wings melted and he fell to his death into the ocean. This was fun to see what you gathered in a panic. Have a happy New Year!
Icarus, I was thinking the Achilles heel lol
Right, but Icarus was a mortal, son of Dedalus, who created the labyrinth
,,
👍😎
Fun watching this. Loved your descriptions and hope you do well with the lot.
Thanks! I'll show the rest in my next video
Amazing how much you found in such a short time. Sounds like a very complicated estate.
Yeah !
It was a surprise and yes, I uncovered a lot in a short time
Stay safe!!
Thanks so far so good
A fish called Wanda lol
A movie I really liked
Thanks for the video, lots of interesting items. Cant wait for the next upcoming video. Stay safe.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to it too, I know there's more fun stuff in there
Playboy Classic fragrance!! 😬. OMG too funny! Love your channel!! Thank you!! ❤️
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy and get to watch
George, I’ve so enjoyed this video!! So relaxed and fun to see everything!
That's great! I really want to do more of these, it just depends when the opportunity strikes
I agree! 👍
I think you should pitch a t.v. show where you are the host and the contestants have one hour in a house to pick out items of value. Thanks for the great video. Happy new year.
That would be so fun! Love the idea
my mother grew up reading Peter Rabbit when she was a little girl They all did Back Then There wasn't that much to read
Cute story for all times!
Just watched you on Dead Files!!! I was like, “Hey, I know him!!” Hahaha.
A bunch of people saw it again! That show was fun to be on but they completely misquoted me and I said exactly the opposite of what they concluded... Absolute make believe but entertaining
@@TheAntiqueNomad That makes me sad they misquoted you. Keep up all the good work. ✌️
Love the trains!
Hi there! I like those too. They were all left in a falling down shed
You probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Marcel Arthur Instablaster ;)
@Archer Marlon I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Archer Marlon It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
Love to get into a house. Such treasures
I felt lucky!
@@TheAntiqueNomad me too when i got a chance too and boy was i lucky
My dad owned a Piggly Wiggly franchise store from 69 to 73. I weighed, packaged and priced meat and produce at age 12, legally with a NC health card you can get at 12...child labor huh lol. When I turned 13, he turned me over to the register. First lesson, the sound and feel of silver coins in the till. He'd have me save them back and he'd buy them out of the drawer. Took me about 2 wks to figure out I could do that. He made a little fuss, but I think he was a little proud.
He should've been! You were ambitious, I started work young as well
This was a lot of fun to go through! Wow 2 hours to gather things. I like what you said about what appeals to your eye. Sometimes not big value but you appreciate the item and know someone else will too! Looking forward to part 2!
I'm glad that resonated! It's not always about money, it's only worth what it offers in enjoyment
When I was a senior in high school the girls got that Lanes replica cedar chest..Hope Chest!!!. Shows how old I am. Also my daughter collected the 50 state quarters that she put in a folder when she was young. A couple months ago she took it back to her apartment. Said she needed quarters for the laundry room!
I’m in the U.K. and there are other versions of why Boxing Day is so called One is that the church poor collection box was opened and contents (hopefully after a generous Christmas) distributed to the poor The other is that rich masters gave their servants boxes containing a range of gifts on that day
That's really good to know! I knew of the Victorian tradition but it makes sense that it derived from a previous tradition
Next episode will take place In London maybe?????
I would love that! Not until we can travel, but...
Farmer Potato's was the guy who owned the land peter rabbit and family lived on. 😁
I really need to read the books and learn more about the characters!
George you almost killed me ..... by showing all the lively COPPER items ...I wish I could see more ( I have some collection...but all from India) ...oh that museum replica is " MAHASAURA " The demon who was killed by Goddesses DURGA. The most famous festival of INDIA. ( kindly do a Google search will show different pictures of Maa Durga......where you can see the killing of the demon) ...Ooooohhhh lovely musical box ...
You really make my day .
Stay cool
With Love from SAM
Guwahati Assam INDIA
Thank you, Sam! There's so much to know about your culture in India so that's a great help. I do enjoy copper even more than brass
@@TheAntiqueNomad yes me too ...copper. ...in our country there are lots of festival items used to worship with different copper items .
@TriftyRich Dear Yvon, that you for your thoughtfulness, I did notice your kindness. Thank you. ❤️ On my own during a 2nd lockdown, during Christmas and my birthday is something new.
It's been very strange for us all, I'm glad we at least could wish you a happy birthday and try to entertain
I can't imagine fighting my family over someone's death stuff. They can have it all. I have been there, for about 2 seconds. I got nothing, but I can sleep easy. Good for you! I am glad you got great things, you are as deserving as anyone, plus you pay!!!
Well thanks! I completely agree with you about not fighting with family, seems like we can all share and treat each other well
Funny, you spend a life time feathering your nest knowing full well none will make its way with you to the here after.sucks
Yes, we're just stewards of this stuff hoping it will be of use and beauty in the future
Thanks Nomad.happy trails
