So happy to see you found plain city my parents live there behind the Amish restaurant whenever I visit I go to that thrift store and antique stores to !!
I've been collecting Weilware, KimWard/Kaye of Hollywood lady planters for years and probably have over 100. Always loved how pretty they were hand painted. The one you showed was a great price.😊
Agree with your comments. I like it when vintage is not mixed with modern items. I find it confusing because I am not always certain which is which. ❤And I also really appreciate it when sales people and vendors at venues are more polite and engaging, Enjoy your videos!
That's exactly the issue! When you mix new with old, you're assuming the person shopping knows which is which, or else you're deliberately deceiving them. Not good either way, and if people make a mistake and thin they're getting (and paying up for) old when it isn't, they'll feel burned later...and may never come back.
great time to be had for sure. Thanks for letting me tag along with you on this trip. Some really nice glass in the last shop and actually pretty cheap. You have a great day and safe travels
Thank you for Sharing. What Amazing and unique Antique stores. I always learn so much from your videos. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
At around 3:40 ther's a beautiful cut to clear tulip vase with a cross hatch diamond design. The pattern makes s fibonacci type swirl. I love it when design comes together so beautifully.
🌾 What you stated at 15:30 , and onward (a short while) immediately reminded me of my 6th-grade teacher, D.V.: He often went off-topic, quite sternly, 😶 from the lessons. (He was a surprise, daily, to say the least. 😅) One such morning, he went hard, advising us, out-of-the-blue, to never say, "I don't know", ever ...never... in any situation. This served me well in my successful customer-service career. ☺️ That teacher has come to mind, also, as a pairs of shoes may get slightly worn; he said always get 6-to-10 years out of shoes: He didn't understand why we all had new shoes at the start of the school year. 🙃🙂
I'm with you George, I too don't understand why Goodwill or Thrift Stores sit something on the shelf without a price tag or sticker if they won't sale it to you !!! When you said that you asked the lady why & she says I don't know & you said to us it's cause you don't care & I said amen George !!! They are bad for that here in Asheville NC in our Goodwill stores & I have questioned them several times as to why & they can't even come up with a reason why & I told them that's stupid & crazy 😀😀😀 !!! We may never ever know why !!! Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 !!! 🙂
Great video!! Thank you!! &Happy Thanksgiving to U&Xeno&All in chat!! I'm thankful for being able to find such a fun group! Also learn a lot too!! Take care!!
Thank you for your joy, knowledge, humility, and effort to take us on your journey through thrift and antique places. I watched and subscribed to some of your friends channels and have known about you for a while now but didn't really check your channel out. I love watching your channel and learning off of you just for my own joy of looking when I go to thrift stores or antique stores. So much fun!! Thank you 😊. (From Oz 🦘)
at 4:52, the old glass vase (turning purple) , looks like the kind that hold flowers over a grave or at a columbarium. Like at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle, there is a little metal ring, outside each little glass doored vault, to place a filled cone-shaped vase of flowers...they have plastic ones now, as well as the old glass ones, still in use.
Good evening, George. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving! The plate with the waterlily on it really caught my eye. It would've _very_ likely had to come home with me. I liked the old coffee grinder, on top of the faux fireplace. Loved that decanter set! It had a Czech look to it, to me. Those lustres were really pretty. I like the brown furniture, too. I could actually see myself buying the Gulliver's Travels bowl. That drop-front side-by-side was really nice, and they are very useful and practical. Loved that grape design corner shelf. Mom always wanted a hall tree, but there was never space for one...kept filling the spaces with other stuff 😂 I'd like to have that cream spoon that was with the milk bottle. There were a lot of things in the antique shop that caught my eye. Thanks for taking us along!
I hope you do too! I did like the waterlily plate too, and the coffee grinders are a staple to me. You are the second vote for Czech/Bohemian on that set, I think you're right because of the depth of the gold decoration. That was one of the better side-by-sides I've seen in awhile! I love hall trees and find them practical, but somehow never had a good spot near the door that would accommodate one. Glad you enjoyed this one, have fun with your brother
I found a civil war hat similar to the one you showed in a thrift store for a couple of dollars. Mine seems to be a lot older though. I don’t collect that type of stuff but for a couple of dollars I couldn’t leave it.
My haunts! Country Closets building was a classy Amish Furniture business. I believe the building was DONATED to the thrift store after its former building was destroyed by fire. Have you visited the all-smaller charity thrift shops in the Columbus, OH area? Discovery Shop, Worthington Thrift Shop, Reynoldsburg Thrift Shop and Grove City Thrift Shop all benefit cancer services. Another unique shop is the Tri Village Trading Post in the Grandview Heights area.
That makes sense! How nice of them to help the thrift store that way. I haven’t thrifted the Columbus area before this, but I will now! Thanks for the suggestions
Lol I am still using one of those funny antennas ... No cable for me ... That one was pretty cool.. probably works better than mine ... Which currently has foil on the ends for better results lol
Those Shawnee salt and pepper shakers , Value Village had a pair in their showcase . Priced at 85.00 . They’re cute but not 85.00 cute . That stores price was way better . Neat stuff as usual .
Plain City is still rural--folks are still using things until they wear out! Wish you'd had better luck there, it's a charming area, but Columbus is creeping that direction.
I used to buy vintage cookbooks at used book sales. Now... first, find a used book sale. Second, find a book without a bar code. These days I don't even go - too many bar code scanner types grabbing and scanning. Just bagged a hedgehog Christmas ornament, so yes there's an audience. 22:17 I think flat leaves were Czech and the 3D ones were Italian. Feel free to differ though; glass isn't my thing.
That’s helpful, I’ll see if I can confirm about the leaves being a clue to the origin! I’m still finding some old books at friends of the library sales
BROKEN, CHIPPED, WORN... we see a lot of them, for a true collection you only buy perfect ones, but if they cost very little, the right amount, they are not to be despised, you can still use or decorate them. For damaged or worn goods they must have a price consistent with the perfect one, but you can buy them without problems. In the end, today you can buy crystal glasses, and quality porcelain, at a much lower price than what you find in stores, products made in Asia, low quality and without value. You can drink from vintage crystal glasses paying 1 or 2 euros, ceramic or porcelain plates at the same price, and you can use them without worrying too much. Once they cost a fortune, today they are worth almost nothing. I have 6 Bacarat crystal wine glasses bought for 10 euros for all six. Less than two euros each. I use them and enjoy them.
Nowadays Gorgeous bag, however, for saving money and high-quality bags, try kislux the rest of the money goes to needy students at schools to pay for their education, not much, but do help them a little.
Excellent ! I grew up off Hwy 41 in Southern Indiana & appreciate your post from this one on 42 🚸 We've had Quarter Day for Amazon returns in Owensboro & Evansville for a while now 🔄
"Looks like someone had a hard time getting potty trained so we're gonna leave that " Lol
If I were there, I'd buy the whole Taylor Smith Ever Yours set!!!! WOW!!!!
What a deal, right?
The potty chair cracked me up! I had one similar to that. Mine was much cleaner though! 🤭😁😂🤣 I hope they improved later on in life! Goals! 🤭
Always enjoy your videos, thanks so much for sharing ♥️
Happy to share!
So happy to see you found plain city my parents live there behind the Amish restaurant whenever I visit I go to that thrift store and antique stores to !!
I like that one, it's a great thrift store! I wish I'd known there was an Amish restaurant
I love your knowledge 😊
Thanks, it's my hobby and passion!
Thx for the shopping trip!! Fun items!
You are so welcome!
We live 2 hours from there! Great video
I've been collecting Weilware, KimWard/Kaye of Hollywood lady planters for years and probably have over 100. Always loved how pretty they were hand painted. The one you showed was a great price.😊
Oh neat! It was one of the better examples. I learned about this from my friend Reba, she caught onto these years ago and had a similar amount
Wow, 100 is quite the collection!
I love going tto antique malls with you. We don’t have anything like this here in Hawai’i. Thanks for the adventure and education, George!
I’m glad you’re enjoying the ride! I didn’t find malls in Hawaii but I did find a few shops, some flea market finds too
Fun George. Hope you are well.
You too! I’m ok
George, you're just THE best! ❤
Aww thanks!
I want youtube to know I love your channel ❤ Happy Thanksgiving! I'm dog sitting and making myself a grilled cheese.
George keeps me company while washing dishes, plop up my tablet on the back of the sink and enjoy this vids.
Thanks, you too! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving, and I hope the dog sitting goes well!

I live in Bennington VT. The pottery is still here in the same spot and still produces and is popular.
Thanks George.
I love the Indian head brooch. I can’t wait for you to repair and put up for sale😍
great time to be had for sure. Thanks for letting me tag along with you on this trip. Some really nice glass in the last shop and actually pretty cheap. You have a great day and safe travels

I agree! Very good eye, I hadn't spotted that originally
Ooh, good catch!
I always enjoy your adventures and your extensive extensive knowledge. Much appreciated!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it like I do!
lol George the sign behind you at the end
I'm betting they had trouble with tag switching
Super Freak and We Blew It posters were my favorites ✌️
Yes! Those were cool
I think you had a fruitful trip!

I love Frankoma. Such pretty glaze
Hi George, the little grey hedgehog on the tray to the front left is by Goebel 😊
You're right! I sold one like it to my hedgehog collector previously
@@TheAntiqueNomad Yes! They sell better than Hummels these days.
😮I learn sooooo much about items and their prices from you ❤❤❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
Glad to help!

Goodwills can be so fickle about that unfortunately!
Always good to see and learn what you’ve found. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Happy holidays!

Fascinating!

I always try to learn something watching you😊ty for your knowledge, you go at a great pace,My daughter uses old 60,s patterns as wall art
I have one of the oplesant plates, bought at goodwill years ago
They do make great art!
love from lex ky
I think the date on the box at 52:00 reads 1934 but maybe I'm wrong. Lots of fun stuff at the Hwy 42 mall
You were right and that makes more sense!
It's my fave, George!
Thank you George, most enjoyable!🙉🙈🙊
I'm so happy you liked it!
We have similar discount stores in Canada. They're called Krazy Bins. I've never been but heard it's like a shark feeding frenzy.
The brown hair clip--could also be used as a shawl holder.
I really like that shop and the cheese house beside it. Hope you went to Der Dutchman to eat.
I just found out about that place, I'll have to go back
Thank You George for another great video and Happy Thanksgiving!
Same to you!

Plain City is still rural--folks are still using things until they wear out! Wish you'd had better luck there, it's a charming area, but Columbus is creeping that direction.
I had great luck! I found very good deals on what I did buy, It does still feel like the back road but that will likely change.

@theantiquenomad You can't find any Hall Jewel Tea because I swear it is all housed in the antiques shops near me in Catawba County NC 😂
Interesting! I’m looking forward to getting to NC
Fisher price little people people in a bag!
I love the California pottery figurines, Weil Pottery being one of the best. Women don't dress that refine anymore.🥺
me too
I love the dress style ❤
😊
buh bye everyone ❤
Hi there! I think we still have Vintage Martha's info, or come to Tijuana Cultural Center on Dec. 7-8, I think she's selling there
👋
52:11. It's 1934 not 24
Ah, my aging eyes! That fits a little better with my understanding of when those were made.
Don't linger❤

Agree with all that! Wonderful deal on the Baccarat btw

My Dearest George,
Obviously that care-less shop girl had NO idea with whom she was conversing. Shame on her.
Shame!
Well it shouldn’t matter who it is! If helping customers isn’t your thing, there’s other jobs out there
I think answering I don’t know in retail is annoying to everyone
Nowadays Gorgeous bag, however, for saving money and high-quality bags, try kislux the rest of the money goes to needy students at schools to pay for their education, not much, but do help them a little.

Whatever the reason, my point is: nothing is worth ten thousand dollars. The end of the story. I will kislux continue to buy my bag
I agree
