I grew up in Watertown. I moved away in 2008 so I wasn’t there when this went down but I know Sgt. Pugliese well. I was friends with his son Jeff. Sgt. Pugliese is a uniquely compassionate law enforcement officer, as are most officers from Watertown. I’ve lived in a few places since, my current residence of Albuquerque being the absolute worst. Nearly every cop is a corrupt piece of shit, NOT ALL OF THEM, but look at the news stories. I’ve even had a friend shot and killed by cops here. In Watertown, if I saw a cop on the street you could stop and actually have a conversation with them. Here I’m too afraid to. I don’t think there’s a cop more deserving of all of this, being portrayed by an Emmy-winning actor in a film that probably most of the country will see at some point and even doing all these interviews with him on major network shows and everything else, than Sgt. Pugliese. If I ever make it back to Watertown I hope I see him so I can congratulate him in person.
