    Just found you. Hard to find a lot of guys who still drive these cars. I just picked up mine from Virginia. I found one with 49,000 miles, it was an older gentleman’s & he was the only owner had all the service records except the transmission fluid change, no record of it. I drove it back to Missouri from Virginia no problems at all. I got home & did an oil change, flushed the brake fluid, changed the transmission fluid, & basically did a complete service from my local Honda dealer & everything went well for me. Honda even asks where I found such a clean car haha 😅

    hey dude. I watched this video already on the 4th when it dropped but I wanted to check in and let you know I'm still watching, also I'm really impressed and proud of you for posting right after saying you were going to do that. A lot of people don't follow-through. Seeing your Accord inspires me to work hard every day. Thanks for another enjoyable video !

    Bought a ‘99 red v6 coupe this past summer, it’s got a blown engine but I’m currently swapping in a new low mileage J30 from an ‘02. I plan on rebuilding the old engine into a more performance set up, & doing a manual swap once I get the car running / learn how to drive it. I keep hearing the autos are like ticking time bombs on the 6th gens though. I’d love to be a part of a Honda group, I’m still learning my way through cars mechanically & having people around me to learn from would be nice but I stay all the way in Arkansas. Keep up on the videos though you’ve come a long way!

      Yeah the auto trans aren’t great. It’s just situational like my trans feels 100% perfectly fine and I baby it. The autos like to be driven a certain way, kinda hard to explain. Just like any 20-30 year old car shit gets old and breaks. The manual is the way to go for sure, I’m still looking for a swap myself but I have a prelude as a project car so manual swapping my accord isn’t a priority…. Also driving a auto is so relaxing and easy haha also the j series makes great power so it’s not like u have a 100hp auto f series yanno… even tho it’s an accord these cars are special especially the cg2 coupe. People sleep hard on the j series v6 and it’s a shame….

      @@joshuayammer1994 yeah I most definitely understand, I guess I’ll just have to see what shape mine is in at the end of the day. & I agree the J series & the v6 accords in general are so slept on!!! I want to thank you though, Barely anybody makes videos working on cg2s. I was completely scared to touch my engine beforehand but because of you I am currently tearing into my J30 while looking for ports from the other j series engines I can throw on before I finally drop it in.

      @@Kreed02 yeah just see what your working with. Rebuilding J series is very easy compared to other engines, basically a F series in a v configuration. When it comes to auto trans they scare me haha I can rebuild manual trans but I won’t touch an auto. I love j series Bc they’re so modular literally most of all j series parts are compatible 2.7L to 3.7L. Like I have a 3.0L with type-s 3.2L lower runners, injectors, and fuels rails, a odyssey 3.5L intake manifold and a 3.0L throttle body. I daily the car with no issues…speaking of that the car itself is a gem Bc they’re very reminiscent to German cars oddly enough. Their rear suspension is totally different compared to its 4 door sister and other Hondas and the v6 has a beefier subframe so the v6 coupe models just feel super sturdy. It rides more like an Acura/European car. For fluids I run official honda 5w30 synthetic blend engine oil, official honda blue coolant, and official honda ATF. Car runs perfect… let me know if you have any questions about accord and j series! I know a decent amount and can point u in the right direction

      @@joshuayammer1994 yeah watching your videos it made it seem really easy. This is my first car & overall my first time actually working on an engine, I just want to do the build right I’m not trying to be like everybody else with their cheap clapped out accords. But thanks I’m going to add all those to my shopping list. But that’s really cool I never really knew all that about the coupe! I do have a question though, the 40k mi J30a I got off eBay actually came with the odyssey style intake manifold with the plenums. Idk if the facelifted 6th gens came with those automatically or if I it got ported. I mean it is a used engine so I could see either or. But more or less I guess I’m wondering if I should still get the intake off the odyssey or if I’m just better off with the one I got now. Still got a flap though rip.

    My opinion is to change the transmission fluid no matter what color it is. The B7XA transmissions is TERRIBLE. Change the fluid regularly! My 98 Accord V6 has 320k on the original motor and I've been in 3 rear end accidents that were not my fault - no frame damage. Original tranny went until 290k although it shifted like shit for many miles. Dirty fluid affects the shifting of these transmissions because of the valve body design and early models didn't have filters or a transmission cooler. All you're doing is circulating worn clutch material - if the clutches are worn out enough that all that is keeping them going is dirty fluid, the trans is already toast. They usually shift better after a drain & fill on the transmission and honda makes that super easy to do

    The 6th gens hondas transmission are the shittiest transmission honda ever built.the j30 engine was too strong for the transmission. transmission were slipping prematurely. Ive owned 2 6th gen coupes both trans gave out before the engines ever had a problem. A great mechanic once told me that once you start to experience a transmission problem meaning a single slip dont change it.he said that because if its slipping the gears have been worn down and its using the worn transmission fluid for better grip on the gears

    • @joshuayammer1994
      @joshuayammer1994  2 года назад

      Yeah unfortunately the trans aren’t great.. that is true! At that point you’re better off leaving it alone and topping off as needed. I believe the previous owners did the maintenance because the car drives really really good and the old fluid looked decent. I’m in search of a Acura type s six speed manual for it for when the auto does eventually does take a shit and do the whole swap and everything… haven’t found one for the right price….

    Hopefully you see this. I have one of these right now with 313k. Small oil leak and transmission leak. Fixing the oil leak soon but I’m more worried about the transmission. The only problem I have is that it shifts into 2nd really hard sometimes but every other gear is pretty much smooth. I was thinking of doing a transmission flush but I’m not to sure. The color of fluid is alil dark red but it doesn’t smell burnt at all.

    • @tylergraham7815
      @tylergraham7815 11 месяцев назад +1

      dont flush. drain and fill 3x. yes its more work, but flushing can agitate metal shavings and clog your filters and solonoids. my v6 auto w 193k was having some late shifts. this got it in order. make sure to check your fluid levels regularly, check trans fluid when car is warm

    So my accord coupe is struggling with its original auto at 287k but I’ve changed its fluid over 4 times in within 46k miles. It gets burnt, I then change it and it keeps driving. To me burnt fluid is useless so leaving it in my car causes worse cooling during the summer for the transmission. It slips regardless of changing the fluid

    • @tylergraham7815
      @tylergraham7815 11 месяцев назад +1

      if its slipping regardless of fluid color you should start saving for a rebuild/manual swap. you would need to add a transmission cooler in order to stop the fluid from burning. was a big problem in earlier models of this car and a reason the transmissions would die so quickly
