Totally agree with the gentlemen on the far left of the screen. We are sick of players and coaches who don't have enough pride and grit to play for IU.
All Matt Painter had to do to retain Kanon Catchings was to guarantee him a starting role. Coach would not do that. The standard is everyone has to compete. THAT is culture!
How about the early seventies? How good was George McGinnis? Could they win then with him like they did under Knight (I think we know the answer)? The culture needs a reset. A big reset. I was courtside in Philly in 1976 in the IU band. Old guys know stuff.
The IU men's basketball team have prima donnas ( Paper Tigers) -- who love the perks and benefits of being a player at IU, but not buying in to the old tradition of real IU basketball. All glory, No sacrifice!!!
Sorta loquacious but here’s my take ,,, I have an old audio tape recording of me calling a “faux” IU basketball game. I was the star. I used a couple tube socks rolled up in aluminum foil, a waste basket on a chair up against a wall as my equipment. Then for game timing the analog oven clock would have to work for the backdrop sound,, for what would be my last second game winning shot. I’d yell out names like Benson, Abernathy, May Wilkerson, Green…Buckner, in my play by play excitement. But it was always my last name I screamed when trying to time my winning shot with that awkward oven clock. Never really worked out perfectly. 😊 That 10 yr old went on to be just a fan of Indiana Basketball. But what a fan!!! 20+ years ago, my fandom sorta ebb’d and flow’d from disgust to hopeful. But the last season and a half it’s all ebb’d to a point of total slack of indifference. It seems I could not name 5 players in the last, honestly, decade. IU Basketball is a hollow empty, very sad version, of what it was two, three decades ago. And THAT’s to an Indiana a resident IU basketball homer. To the outside of INDIANA basketball world…. IU is non existent. You used to mention the word(s) “ IU” or “basketball” and to EVERYONE there was this unmistakable connection. Today 🏀 IU you get a “huh, a who”… 🤔?? whoo whoo whoo 🙄
Let's be very very clear! IU basketball is NOT and has NEVER been loved by the entire state of Indiana. It's Purdue who, for years now, has captured the hearts of large swath of Hoosiers.
I was at that game and had a nice time enjoying the Hoosier sports environment. We had a whole section cheering “Under 30” by the 2nd half. Paid good money for those tickets. I’d rather go to a high quality Women’s game than watch the further death of the Bob Knight era basketball. Embarrassing.
at the beginning of the Iowa game, Oumar Ballo looked like he just woke up and was bothered to have to play basketball. And the way he played in other games and of course the Illinois game, was disgraceful. 1.2M reasons to suspend him from all team activities. Oh, and fire Woodson for absolute dereliction of duty by the end of the week.
And on ballo effort. He's a 20 minute a game guy having to play 35 because malik is hurt and hatton can't play in the b1g. Is that a good excuse for taking some fast breaks off idk depends on if you care what's realistic for him but hes shown more hustle than most of them
Talent isn't the problem! Unfortunately, the problem starts with the coaching and culture on down! Some would say, it starts even higher at the top above the coaches! However, the players are taking on the same attitude, character and mentality of their head coach! No energy, no discipline, no accountability, blame everyone else but themselves, no heart, no intelligence, terrible fundamentals and just poor attitude! Head Coach Mike Woodson's character and mentality has rubbed off on his team! They are Lazy and have no care attitudes, along with no discipline or accountability whatsoever! They keep making the same Ignorant and careless mistakes over and over and over again and they never seem to learn from them, or correct them! The team looks completely unprepared over half the time they play! They have no toughness, no heart, no energy, bad fundamentals and terrible chemistry that never gets fixed! Unfortunately, just like their head coach, the players make excuses, pass the buck and put the blame elsewhere! The coaches, players and staff etc... should all be looking at themselves in the mirror, examining themselves and admitting the problems and then working on fixing and correcting them, but instead, they just make excuses and then put the blame on the fans, then they wonder why nothing ever seems to get fixed or improved! That is the absolute worst thing they could do, is blame the fans! It was the beginning of the end, when Woodson start alienating the fan base! That is the ultimate NO! NO! It was a huge red flag for me and something you just cannot come back from, once you start attacking and alienating the fan base! In order to correct the mistakes and problems, you have to first admit the mistakes and problems, something Mike Woodson, his staff and players seem to have a very difficult time doing and this is the result of it! They may get by some of the lesser competition by just out talenting them, but that will only get you so far! When they play well coached teams that have as much, or not even as much talent as IU does, but they are well coached, prepared and have good fundamentals, work ethic, discipline and good team chemistry, along with some talent, games like Iowa, Illinois, Gonzaga, Louisville and many similar in years past are the end result! This is the result we get majority of the time when playing well coached teams! IU often gets boat raced! It is embarrassing and it has happened way too much under Mike Woodson! It should not be happening at all, but it especially shouldn't be happening with the amount of talent and experience that this team has this year! I have said it before and I will say it again, Coach Mike Woodson is doing a disservice to IU Basketball and this school right now! If Woodson truly cared about Indiana basketball, he would step down now and do this team and school a favor because right now by him staying, he is doing a disservice to this program!
The entire IU men's basketball program is a mediocre (at best) losing professional franchise. The mentality is playing for IU is just a glorified job!! It seems like they are all playing and coaching for a paycheck and the perks that come with it!!
Just look at the contrast. Woodson spends 5 million on a roster he can’t make work. Brad gets 5 new starters and the team could possibly be better or equal to last years team come March. Gotta understand the type of kids you’re going after and if they fit. ILL
Hold on 1 wasnt a fight 2 was started by ivisic 3 if ballo and rice just watched that and stood there is 1000x worse than what happened which was nothing
Amendment to 2: Ivisic responded appropriately. There's no reason to continue riding someone out of bounds, after the play has clearly been called dead. Key to what I said is 'responded', not initiated.
@Gee2deDubya boxing someone out of bounds with 0 bad intentions and getting a foul called is not the same as getting in the guys face and staring him down
@SWindiana10 I see you have an opinion, and are entitled to it, of course. Ivisic disagreed with you, however, as would most players in that moment. Luke felt it significant enough to seek out the Illini staff to clarify his intentions. There's what you think, and then there's what's realistically appropriate.
Who would want that toxic job?..high expectations abound and be honest, it's been so long since they were relevant, a choice 18 year old recruit is not impressed with dusty banners. He is going to be like " Indiana Who?"..NIL will get you talent but no team
Nobody is more down on Woodson and IU than IU fans. It has been this way for a while ... rightfully so
Totally agree with the gentlemen on the far left of the screen. We are sick of players and coaches who don't have enough pride and grit to play for IU.
Woodson has all the talent he needs. He hand picked his roster. These are all professional athletes. The buck stops with the HC. He has to go!
All Matt Painter had to do to retain Kanon Catchings was to guarantee him a starting role. Coach would not do that. The standard is everyone has to compete. THAT is culture!
Betting that would not happen down South
Yeah cause PU sucks 🙄😂
@@terrycarlton6991hmm interesting stance
As an IU alum the only true thing that can change this is a back to the future type time machine going back to the mid 1990's.
Respectfully, I'd suggest the mid to late 80s
How about the early seventies? How good was George McGinnis? Could they win then with him like they did under Knight (I think we know the answer)?
The culture needs a reset. A big reset. I was courtside in Philly in 1976 in the IU band. Old guys know stuff.

Not only was it 52-22 but there was still like 6:00 and change left in the first half lol.
The IU men's basketball team have prima donnas ( Paper Tigers) -- who love the perks and benefits of being a player at IU, but not buying in to the old tradition of real IU basketball. All glory, No sacrifice!!!
Mizzou’s coach is good, they were good 2 years ago, I was surprised about last year but he’s got it back now.
Dennis Gates is a good coach, he maximizes talent
The 0-18 sec year won’t get him IU job though. But Dennis is a good coach
This season was predictable from this summer.
Agree about the Bahamas.
If I was Woodson, I would've benched the starters and put in 5 walk-ons.
ROB IS RIGHT!!!! That IOWA ST coach do be wearing Medium polos and for his age that's Nasty work 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mgbako is one of the laziest players I can remember at iu. Ballo is right up there with him.
It’s not a loaded situation because he’s one of our own. No one will be sorry to see him go.
Wasn’t kilroys the bar was the upstairs pub !
Kilroys (Sports) has an upstairs, as does Nicks

whoo whoo whoo 🙄
Anyone talking poor effort and bringing up ballo and not mgbako shouldnt talk iu bball because they don't watch games
How?
that’s all anyone saw, it’s blatantly obvious this team doesn’t care and doesn’t give effort
Let's be very very clear! IU basketball is NOT and has NEVER been loved by the entire state of Indiana. It's Purdue who, for years now, has captured the hearts of large swath of Hoosiers.
No that’s a lie
No.
That is not true at all. Purdue is liked in Northern Indiana but IU rules the state, always has.
Got a Sasquatch made the championship game, but no. Hell no. You'll always be little sister til you win something
This dude is high ASF
How does this not have +50,000 views and likes! Speak brothers!!!!!
Woodson hired a great team, and they still are underperforming. So, only one thing remains.
If I'm Woodson I keep playing these guys who are half assin it. If they are getting me fired, they can tank any draft stock at the same time
I was at that game and had a nice time enjoying the Hoosier sports environment. We had a whole section cheering “Under 30” by the 2nd half. Paid good money for those tickets. I’d rather go to a high quality Women’s game than watch the further death of the Bob Knight era basketball. Embarrassing.

Illinois has more talent with less money.
Indiana basketball is Alabama football under Mike Shula right now. Just get us the right coach and watch.
And on ballo effort. He's a 20 minute a game guy having to play 35 because malik is hurt and hatton can't play in the b1g. Is that a good excuse for taking some fast breaks off idk depends on if you care what's realistic for him but hes shown more hustle than most of them
Dude in the middle needs to shut up long enough so someone else can talk 🤣

What was so bad is the coach should have been let go LAST SEASON!
This is what you get for fireing knight for being himself. Shit just keep rolling down hill
This is why iu is in the state it is. Because fans like you were loving his antics, his childish and hateful nature. Now, your reaping it.
The entire IU men's basketball program is a mediocre (at best) losing professional franchise. The mentality is playing for IU is just a glorified job!! It seems like they are all playing and coaching for a paycheck and the perks that come with it!!

Can you rent winning Culture?
This happens when you buy a team instead of developing a team.
100 percent IU is not a blue blood! Its been almost 40 years since that was even a consideration. Bring back Crean that creeper won….
Definately not.
Its sad to see what has happened to them since Bobby Knight i usta hate Indiana but always respected coach Knight this from Ky fan BBN.
Let me guess this podcast shits on iu fans like every national media treats our fanbase. Always blames the fans instead of the coaches or admins
It'd be awesome if Dauster could just stop talking while Fanta is exploding with feedback/thoughts/can't get a word in.
The WHOLE state of Indiana does not love IU. Many detest IU, and love Purdue or ND or even Butler.
This was just as embarrassing as the Sampson days......very pathetic
500k is not life changing money? WTAF? Proof these guys don't live in the real world.
500k is 10x or more than the average person makes a year, it would be life changing money for most
In today's world, that's life changing, but only if you invest and grow that money.
Woody and his players are very unlikable, can't wait till they are gone.
He bever should've been hired. Hus friends gave him the job. If he were a free agent, he would havd zero interest
